      So I'm gonna JUNK the metal 2 speed!!! I have been through 3 servos and the transmission has no reverse in low and slips in reverse in high. I think they pushed this out to fast with NO field testing or quality control.

    Hope you're luckier than me with that 2 speed all metal gearbox.
    I bought 2 and both sounded super grindy, pumped a lot of power just to operate, and gear switching was unreliable at best. Ended up killing both servos (even though my endpoints were properly set), replaced them with some Emax servos, then one actually caught fire...
    Only good thing i can think of is their looks. I'm back to single speed horizontal transfer case.

      Yes i did add some lithium grease right out of the box, and threadlocked case screws with blue loctite.
      Didn't help, issue is on the gear switching rod and associated pinion IMHO.

    Nice review bro 👍 I was waiting till you get this transmission to see your review.
    I bought two of them and put a one in my mn90. For me high gear is bit too powerful. Thought of changing the motor with bit lower rpm.
    I think that extra gear in the bag is a spare penion for the motor.
    Looking forward to the running test video

      found another "cheapo mod"! you get 2 steering links in the kits (servo to knuckle). cut the shafts at steep+same angle to make a new link that's long enough to reach the passenger side. CA together and file it smooth. with a small washer, servo grommet and sleeve (both ends) and a servo screw, it mounts atop the knuckle instead of slipping down onto it, so the cross bar is on top.
      I'll try to show it when I do video of the Jeep body on C frame, really minimal bump steer and cost about zero.

    • @RunThatRC
      @RunThatRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@modelnutty6503 I do like the steering link to be up top instead of it original location. Doing that and just heating up the servo link to be a little straighter seems to work great for bump steer fix.

    This one looks like a better tranny one of the thing with the wpl 2 speed is the fact of the servo flexing when you speed change speeds and since it rides on a plastic base it flexes seems that over time it could snap now on a metal casing to me would have been better when you shift you see no flexing so more than sure less likely to jam the shifter and if there would be any issues it would be construction of the metal casing and position of metal gears causing jamming issues hopefully they can work out the bugs on these..
