Hey man, I can't thank you enough for all the info on this truck. I have a C14 and you're vids are a massive wealth of great info! Thank you and keep it up brother!
I found the same problem with shocks. The best I found and have used are standard losi mini t oil filled. They have long travel and are soft for pretty much all wpl and mn models Both 1/16th & 1/12th They work really well.
I'm waiting on the WPL C24-1 - KM kit right now and it comes with the 2 speed 370 motor, almost everything steel underneath the hood, I chose to buy a steel servo upgrade, oil shocks, and a cap for the bed. Thanks for the video!
@AMPRO Engineering yes, there are 2 kinds that i have seen. One does not have a spring and the servo attachment looks like an elongated o ring that acts like a rail to drive the shifter. The second one is spring loaded too but slightly different than what we both got.
I really wish I had seen your videos before I started trying to modify this car. Every single upgrade is a major PITA and none seem to really work as they should. You did solve a couple of mysteries for me though, the wpl shocks and the shift servo horn. Man.
Alberto, pop by a hobby shop, K&S metal rack, grab music wire to wrap your own springs? done it many times, it is spring steel. for those you might need 1/4" or 5/16" size rod to wrap on because of spring-back. .020 diameter? .015? make them a little extra long for pre-load, then trim coils if needed after.
I think that is a good idea but the oil in the shock seems to be the problem too. When I drained the other ones they were almost perfect. Ill look into that.
You could try drilling the valve holes in those shocks a little bigger, would still need some thinner/softer springs. Some cheap 1/16 or 1/18 crawler shocks shortened might do the trick, they tend to be soft, at least might find some springs that work. Next thing you know somebody's going to make cable-locking diffs for this thing.
Sorry if this has been asked/mentioned somewhere, but what tires are you using on this C24? They look like the stock tires, but they look bigger for some reason.
just using them should make them run smoother... if you get slippage then a washer behind the input gear inside each pumpkin should help... but you really just have to put up with it until your metal set arrives... use locktite on all the grub screws when it arrives as i had mine loosen until i added locktite
@@AMPROEngineering yeah that's true alternately you could make a plate either side and raise the mounting points above the chassis rails keeping it in it's current orientation I think something like 5mm would make enough difference without to much issue in the driveshafts and you could lengthen the upper links front and rear slightly to reduce bind by rotating the axles
@@AMPROEngineering i know, grandpa was working at Renault Billancourt in the 70’/80’ and made few trips to Dacia Romania to tune the R12 drivetrain for Romanian roads when the model production was launched there. He also had the only station wagon in Paris with the rear up instead of squatting down…
@@AMPROEngineering hmm. Yeah you might need to print up some shock towers to increase the length to something more common instead of mounting directly to the frame rail. It'd look pretty sweet that way too. I'm a shock snob. Having actual damping makes so much difference that I can't stand driving an undamped rc.
I like these vehicles and had fun building my b16 kit with my son and have a b36 on way when it releases. But I really wish they offered better instructions, better parts and all that. I do not expect a crossrc vehicle, but you have the potential for really great stuff right out of the box, but they seem like they have no clue how to do it??
mine with 2 speed, metal gears with full metal axles, the beefier metal drive shafts (the scale looking ones are actually crap) and bearings, is a really capable little truck... it never seems to lack power which was the problem i had with it from the start with the standard (kit) motor... id suggest the full metal axles as i had the ones with just the brass fixed gear and the plastic ends began to allow the axle to spin inside... still using the original shocks as like yours, my upgraded shocks wouldnt fit...
Those are 1/16th scale traxxas shocks I got on ebay. Stock springs are way to hard and the softer one I got are still to hard and cost a fortune. They are not good for this car.
Is your transmission an aikeec brand? I’m searching that brand and this video keeps coming up. I purchased one on eBay for my wpl. I later read that wpl actually makes a 2 speed trans and that’s the brand you want to get. Not any other brand. Is that accurate?
There are 2 or 3 types of shocks sold for that. As for your frustration, I dont have patients at all so understand. plus my health limits me and the whole time all I can think now is am I wasting time because i dont have a lot left. Your truck there is awesomesauce due to your work and your 3d stuff. Wish I could afford stuff like that. By chance do you ever paint other peoples RCs???
best looking wpl I've seen on the internet
Very kind of you Corey.

Thank you for sharing! Really appreciate & enjoy watching your video. Always love c14 & 24. Keep it up!😁👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Sure thing. I love these WPL cars

Oh yeah I have those too! I ended up using new oil filled units that just came out for it.

Sounds great! I happen to love these WPL cars.
Yay, I'm not the only one who got that 2 speed transmission box that has a notch instead of what others have been getting. Thanks for the tips!
There is a different version?
@AMPRO Engineering yes, there are 2 kinds that i have seen. One does not have a spring and the servo attachment looks like an elongated o ring that acts like a rail to drive the shifter. The second one is spring loaded too but slightly different than what we both got.
Interesting, I have three at home that I got from different vendors. I will look at them!
Thanks so much for the videos. I'm so frustrated with my build and I think after watching this I can actually make sense of all this.
I am glad it helped! I was so mad putting this together...
I really wish I had seen your videos before I started trying to modify this car. Every single upgrade is a major PITA and none seem to really work as they should. You did solve a couple of mysteries for me though, the wpl shocks and the shift servo horn. Man.
I know. I hate how they blindly sell stuff for these. I am glad my video helped
@@AMPROEngineering which speed control did you use? 20a or 30a?
the 30A version.
I agree I dig how the truck looks too.Yep sometimes working on the small rigs can be a pain LOL but in the end it's worth the agravation.
I think so. I really like it now.
Nice looking truck;especially like the paint job
Thank you. The designers really did a good job on the proportions.
The two speed works great have, it on my b16. Just watch out the servo easily over heats and goes poof!
I agree. Now that it is working that low range is great.
Sorry, very new to this chassis as santa is bringing one for my boy. does the OEM electronics control the two speed trans servo too?
No it will not. You will need a different radio, speed control and receiver.
Like the paint job on the back rims. If you don't mind can you leave a link to a safe retailer of this truck. Thank you
Thanks! I would check out BangGood.com. That is where I got it.
@@AMPROEngineering Thank you take care
Is there a condensate needed on the 370 motor? Cos there is one on the stock 180, but not on this one I believe
The stock one from the rtr model is really weak. The 370 is a massive help.
It looks great! I give ya credit; while I’d like to try out one of these wpl’s as a project, it looks daunting 😮 Excellent video!👍
Thanks a lot!

Yeah I did but they were just too stiff sadly. Now cable locking diffs...now you are talking!
Sorry if this has been asked/mentioned somewhere, but what tires are you using on this C24?
They look like the stock tires, but they look bigger for some reason.
These are indeed the stock tires. I do have printed wheels so maybe that is creating some kind of optical illusion?
@@AMPROEngineering I realized that after I posted. Your wheels look great. Nice classic look.
Does your esc heats up when you using that 370 motor?
Wow that is a great question. I have not noticed anything on this or some of my others with this esc and motor. Ill keep closer watch though.

No it does run smoother and yes, loctite is my friend on this
I ended up parting mine out. I fitted a better motor that fetch pinions and gear boxes out. So I got shut.
Yeah I did way too much to this thing.
Nice video! What battery should I use with the 2 speed gearbox? Using a 30A esc with jst plug.
That is exactly what i use. Works well.
I thought I was the only one who had problems like this..😊👌
Join the club, haha!
Would it be possible to mount the transmission upside down to increases ground clearance? Just a Thought
It is a good thought. I am not sure but I suspect body clearance issues and driveshaft binding?

doesn't the gearbox go the other way round so the motor is at the front and servo at the rear ?
That is how it is installed. It is hard to tell with no body, haha!
Cool bro 👍👍👍

French blue Renault 12 station wagon in the back ?

I think 40mm but the spring rate seems to be the issue.

A flySky FS-IT4S

Hey I was wanting to buy a trail finder and I was wondering if you could make an adaptor to for the high lift 3 speed transmission for it
Yes that should not be hard but to be honest the TF 2 speed is way better than the 3speed in the highlift.
How does the transmission shift? Do you do it manually?
It comes with a servo and you use the 3rd channel on the radio.
very nice paint
