Been watching quite a few reviews but "knowing" him and his preferences a fair bit mostly thx to your podcast made me understand it a lot better than most of the reviews out there.

  • @andrewhurstcars
    @andrewhurstcars 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    For sure better fluid might help, but don’t forget the F-Type R P575 is a 1,780kg car - plus driver on top. The GT3 on the other hand is 1,418kg - a massive 362kg less.

    • @aviator-kn8zq
      @aviator-kn8zq 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      True 1400-1500kgs is a sweet spot for the best modern sports cars . Can’t avoid the extra weight these days but that’s the number .

    • @andrewhurstcars
      @andrewhurstcars 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aviator-kn8zq Yep. I think people expect additional weight for a modern saloon or estate car, but this F-Type coupé is still 250kg heavier than a Porsche 992 GTS - that is a huge amount of extra weight for a 2 door sports car.

  • @thecremeegg

    Tony only cares about how fast his cars are. The guy at the petrol station is correct, modern Ferraris are drab in comparison with how they used to be. I think Tony enjoys showing off how new and fast his cars are over actual driving. His opinions are always completely at odds with everyone else in the motor media, that should tell you all you need to know. The Pista is known for having dead steering which is a complete no-go for any petrolhead. He does NOT have the ability to maximise the potential of a 430 let alone a Pista, especially on a road. But Pista go fast so yay!

    • @TymaDem
      @TymaDem 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Guy on gas station neither right nor wrong, it’s a personal preference. Modern Ferraris, naturally, aren’t the same as Ferraris from 90s and early 00s in the same way 90s and 00s aren’t the same as 80s and 70s, and so on. However, that might not be true when Ferrari goes full on EV due to fundamental changes

    Great podcast as always.
    All diesel in the uk has been bio diesel for the last 10 years.
    The diesel replacement for trucks is called HVO and is a bit more expensive than diesel at the moment because it is a crops based fuel and the price of crops is high.
    Filling a hydrogen tank in a vehicle isn’t as simple as you’d think. It can take 5 minutes it can take an hour. The trouble is both the delivery tank and customer tank have to be at the same pressure for delivery to take place.

    Stop cutting Tony off so much. The brake fluid boils as its hydroscopic, be surprised if you have this on such a new car. However brakes dont work the hotter they get they they have an operating range above and below which they lose performance.

    You defenitly can opt the stripes without the AF package. I know it as i went trough the speccing procces with my car. And Toni is right, a VS version of the SF90 isnt confirmed by Ferrari, pur speculation and wishfull thinking. The mules were all with a lot if stickers from different company wich is unusual for a camouflage VS version of Ferrari. As well the mull was around Germandy near Bosch, so leads to the speculation that the mule is a powertrain developement for either the new FXX or Laferrari succesor. At the end where would a VS version of the Sf90 fits. Probably to close to the La ferrari succesor. At the time when the Sf90 was launched we were told by Maranello there is no VS version coming. (But at the end this are just words who can be easily overruled the next day). Anyway the Sf90 AF is the one to have, i dont car to not have a lifter, the dampers ar so much better than the non AF car

    Sam, long time fan of your channel. You and Tony are doing a great show.
    FYI, I believe wearing racing harnesses without a HANS device to fix your helmet to the seat is actually very dangerous if you were to crash. The lap belt would allow your head to decelerate whereas harnesses would not allow as much room for deceleration, and thereby your head would snap forward and potentially be deadly. It’s called a c1-c2 cervical spine fracture. Aka internal decapitation. Just a surgeon’s opinion - stay safe and keep making the amazing content.
    Cheers!

    Hey Sam, not sure if you had any interest in “De winging” your incoming GT3RS But i happened to come across this video, which a guy effectively takes his wing off in like 15 minutes with a few socket wrenches. I know you’re a fan of touring spec GT3’s so at the very least it would be an interesting watch 😅 th-cam.com/video/22IIRVk0Z-M/w-d-xo.html
    Only thing to note though is it may mess up the fine tuned suspension settings that take the wing into account so essentially affects handling etc on track. Im no Porsche engineer so don’t take my word for it lol

    Tony, you have it right....this is utter madness in the name of being green. The extreme E 'container' is laughable.....how does the container get moved from venue to venue....diesel, Jet A1? Not so green then, plus all the race vehicles teams and their kit....all the hangers on or spectators - its a joke. It is impossible to justify any form of motorsport with a 'green' agenda. Just realise this and get on with it is my advice.
    The Hydrogen fuelled combustion engine is the route that JCB are chasing as electricity will never work in industrial sized vehicles.
    As Tony says....don't throw the baby out with the bathwater, hang onto ICE and divert resources into affordable synthetic fuels....thereby avoiding all the outrageously dirty excavation of battery minerals.

    It's great to hear more people talking about the combustion engine not being the problem.
    I love electric cars but the are not the sole way forward, great for cities but combustion engines will always be along side them I believe.
    I hate all governments narratives pushing electric cars at the moment. If everyone got one tomorrow the electric grid would be completely overloaded and fail 😂

    • @mitchellsteindler
      @mitchellsteindler 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Combustion engines are less than half as efficient as a battery. How is that not a problem?

    • @OzzyM1998
      @OzzyM1998 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mitchellsteindler Less efficient than an electric motor you mean. Yes I know that, thats been known for a long time. Electricity production for batteries is also very inefficient. Its the fuel source for combustion thats the issue

    • @mitchellsteindler
      @mitchellsteindler 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OzzyM1998 no...I dont. A battery has 85% charge-discharge efficiency. The best piston engines are 35% efficient. 35x2=70 which is less than 85. Electric motors themselves are about 98% efficient.

    • @OzzyM1998
      @OzzyM1998 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mitchellsteindler A batteries discharge capability has nothing to do with how much energy will be used.
      If it was only 50%, like lead acid batteries are it would still use the same energy to go a certain distance as a lithium battery would with 85%. That just helps get more range with the same capacity

    • @mitchellsteindler
      @mitchellsteindler 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OzzyM1998 so if you put 100 kwh into a battery and only get 35 kwh out rather than 85 kwh out, that won't affect how far your car can go? Obviously the battery that gives out 85% of the energy it took in instead of 35% is more efficient. That's the difference we are talking about here. Only up to 35% of the combustion energy from gasoline is converted into forward motion. Meanwhile, 85% of the electrical energy used to charge a battery is converted into forward motion. Because electric motors are almost 100% efficient, the overall efficiency is controlled by the charge-discharge (also known as round trip) efficiency.

It's probably a good case of tone being lost in the written word and I probably should have expanded further to be sure that you knew it was said in jest.
