Love to hear you speculating on what could happen in ME3. Truthfully, even though ME2 is my favorite, ME3 is very special. Certainly, the most epic and emotional ride in the series.
Some general tips for ME3 ... 1) The starting missions include tutorial materials. While you know most of it, things generally go more smoothly if you humor it instead of ignoring it. 2) Check your squad early and often. People miss temporary squad mates and power allocation by not doing so. 3) There is only one list for primary and secondary missions; they are all in one list. The primary missions are labeled "Priority" except for one DLC mission. I recommend doing that one early anyway, as it pays off throughout the rest of the game, so the earlier the better. 4) You will get two sets of messages from one other character early on; one set refers to main game tasks, the other is for a DLC package, but they are ambiguous enough that it just looks like the character is being very insistent. 5) The armor system is the same as ME2, but you will need to re-acquire the various parts other than the original N7 parts. 6) The weapon system is like ME1 but not identical. Guns have "ranks" (ex. Avenger I, II, III, IV, and V) which improves the gun as you upgrade. Mods plug into slots on the gun like in ME1, but once you obtain a mod, you can use as many copies as you want on your allies' guns as well. The mods also have "ranks" and finding the same mod again upgrades to the next rank. 7) Missions are keyed to the passage of "time" by doing main missions. You can be assigned a mission before you can actually do it, and you can fail some missions by delaying too long to tackle them.
At this point in the game your theories about the reapers motives are pretty good, I won't comment further on those to avoid any potential spoilers but I will add my own theory at that time, I would say it's complementary with yours. I believe part of the reason why the reapers want to control how the species in the galaxy develop is also to be able to process them more easily. While the reapers are very powerful they still act primarily by subterfuge. They trick us into using the citadel to better behead our government and prevent us from coordinating defense as Vigil explained. They trick us into using the relays so we don't develop our own tech for FTL travelling, that way we are dependent on a system they control and can shut off AND we don't develop any tech they're not familiar with and would have a harder time fighting against. And even more so they use mind control on us to further control us. They seem to want to avoid any risk in a confrontation with us, they only start fighting directly when we are already crippled one way or another.
Agreed. Why ever risk open conflict. Something that’s always largely Glossed over is Sovereigns actions pre ME:1. How Sovereign would wake every few thousand years to see what was happening, how it had many agents even before Saren, How it was Undoubtedly Sovereign that influenced the Rachni. Considering we know how fast the reapers can cover FTL distance without a Relay, I wouldn’t be surprised if Sovereign was traversing the Galaxy without even using the Relay Network just to avoid detection, at least for the last couple of thousand years anyway. I wouldn’t be Surprised if sovereign was only waiting this long to finally act because 1: Humanity had just been discovered so there was some metric that was reached concerning species count or population limit reached, and 2 that the Krogan were less of a threat. So many variables Sovereign could have used, so much secret manoeuvring.
After reading your comment I realized that the mass relays are also a trap in the sense that this branching tree structure encourages life to spread out along it, always within a star system or 2 of a mass relay. This allows the reapers to easily harvest the fruit from the tree without having to scour the galaxy to see where life has developed. They set up the mass relays so that they know where the next crop will be.
Hey Chris good to see you’re back you are my voiced codex but then for the entire game there is no other youtuber like you can’t wait for ME3 and how you will react to your speculations
I know you're curious, but for future reference, there are a lot of renegade dialogue options that will lock you out of future conversations if you piss the person off. Comparing Legion and the Geth to the Reapers kind of did that, so he started giving you the cold shoulder like the girls you broke up with.
Hey man good to see you back. Another rad letsplay in the bag. I’ll say this going forward to ME:3, talk to everyone in between missions, everyone. You won’t want to miss the conversations. Also, clear you codex immediately in ME:3 and it’ll all be set for you to get the new stuff.
Those are some very interesting theories that you bring up during your intro and I love hearing you try to piece things together :) Happy to see you're back! *Cells* Since Cerberus cells don't know of each other, who works there and what they're doing, it mitigates the danger of a cell being dismantled by the Alliance. None of the people working there can 'blabber' about other projects, since they simply don't know about them. That means even if the Alliance captures an entire cell, it doesn't tell them anything about what Cerberus works on other than that cell. Plus, it makes that people working in that cell can't see the bigger picture they're working on either. They just know what they're working on, not how their results are being used in other cells. So there's much less of a chance of people getting cold feet when they see what they're _really_ working on. After all, making reports on the weather isn't that shady, nor is building a reactor. But when you put them together, where the reactor will be able to influence the weather, neither of the cells will know that's the goal. So they aren't able to communicate that goal to other people. *Normandy* It's pretty much a very sneaky way of doing military espionage, by tricking the Alliance to co-develop a ship with the Turians, so Cerberus can get more insight into how Turian warships work. It allows them to use them for their own benefit, but also to equip their ships in a way that gives them the upper hand if they ever get into a fight with a Turian warship. Once you know how it's built, you can figure out the weaknesses as well and exploit those. *Husk swarmed mine* This is actually the most difficult side quest in the game when you play it on a higher difficulty. The continuous swarm of husks kind of disallows you to get into the area with the Dragon's Teeth. *Virus* I really love this little series of side quests. It doesn't have anything to do with the main plot, but it's a fun little detective game to figure out what's really going on and you get more info the more missions you do. You can see it as a conspiracy theory as well, where the Reapers wanted to infect all mechs to use as shock troopers. Imagine if all these mechs were distributed to other worlds, and only _then_ starting to malfunction once they've infected all the existing mechs. *Perseus Veil* The Codex at 2:46:00 actually refers to a side quest that you could've found in ME1 through exploration. You'd find a drifting ship, which, upon boarding, would be stacked with Dragon's Teeth and husks, making it a similar experience as the Mine in this video - except with a lot less space to manouver. That one's probably also the most difficult mission in ME1 on higher difficulties even though the husks are limited and don't constantly spawn unlike in the Mine. *Shield Upgrade* The simplest way to explain the Shield Upgrade codex entry is that, it is better to _deflect_ an incoming missile, than to take the brunt of the impact, if you want to mitigate the damage. Look at it in terms of a punch; if a punch _glances_ you, it does far less damage to your face than when you take it head-on, because it doesn't need to stop its movement entirely.
Once you start ME3, there may be a few things that you'd like to know. (I haven't finished this video yet, but this info will nevertheless come in handy even if I'm too early.) 1. - The subtitles may not be on by default, so _before_ you start the game you may want to go into the preferences to check or to turn them on. Since ME likes to start with a little cutscene, it takes a while until you can turn it on once you start the game. 2. - In those same preferences you can toggle the long awaited "Helmet off in conversations". 3. - ME3 integrates many of the Codex entries from ME1 and ME2, so once you gain control of your character, you may want to mark all Codex entries as "read", so you don't have to sift through all Codex entries to find the one you've just received. Sure, some Codex entries have changed a bit since ME2, but it's easier to navigate without 50 blinking entries. 4. - Luckily, ME3 doesn't "throw you into the plot missions" like ME2 did with Horizon. Instead, it simply removes (or you'll fail) side quests as you progress the plot. So whenever you see a mission with "Priority", that's a plot mission that can unintentionally block your side quests. Yes, it's a 'spoiler', but I don't think you like missing out on side quests, so for your enjoyment I'll be glad to spoil that one ;) There's _one_ exception in terms of "Priority" missions, but naming the title would be a spoiler at this point. So I'll just point it out once you gain that mission. As long as you don't go over 3 hours of gameplay in a video at least ;)
1:38:10 Remember that ship with army of robots that crashed on the stormy planet? That's exactly that ship. And AI of THIS station was not paranoid - it was infected by virus.
Yeah I much prefer getting Legion early and enjoying him for half the game. The mass effect online community will never let you go off rails like that and get him though lol. If they see a consequence coming, they’ll just say that it’s the point of no return when it isn’t. When in reality, it’s our (my) favorite companion in the game! Go Legion! Looking forward to more Mass Effect! :) Also: to the person who commented before the final mission that the escort in the final mission should be “someone smart, not strong” is a straight spoiler, doesn’t make sense past the way the coding was designed, and at this point, I’ll never see a youtuber with one of the new companions/chatacters you would get if someone is lost since youtube comments backseat everyone to the same track. Smallest gripe. Love the playthrough and your speculations!
Never crossed my mind that Sovereign would destroy the citadel, after all Vigil told us how important it is in their plans and they went to all that effort to regain control of it there was no way they would destroy it. However it's true that at the moment of choice with the urgency and the adrenaline it's hard to make a choice.
Now that ME2 is done you should tackle the Mass Effect movie "paragon lost" it doesn't contain spoilers ans shepard isn't the protagonist, the main guy Is a member of your me3 crew and the movie serves as background story for him and his pov of me2, I repeat, I DOES NOT CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR ME3
As much as I love your Playthough, and I really hope you do ME3...it's so frustrating that you never change your weapon from the Sniper, even in close range haha Play on a harder mode in ME3.

The long pause between videos is one thing, but I hope it's not indicative of havoc or hardship going on in Chris's life, world has enough grief.

@@captainhrothgar4637 I never really thought about this point but you're right, it's all about convenience and deception with them.

Good to have you back. Hope everything's is okay with your GF.
I haven't had anything to watch on TH-cam for weeks! Yours was the only series I was following
Time flies, and it's now been days since this latest episode, and I long for more content.
can't wait to follow you through me3
For once, I am inclined to agree with Rapunzel, glad to have you back Chris, nothing but good times for you and yours
