"Then they laugh and I shoot them"
shaBANG!
Hell no
I did
I burst out laughing lmao
I love the fact that you also took "normal photos" to make us see the difference between posing and a normal posture. I also love that you used normal looking people, instead of supermodels (compared to what other channels usually do), and made them look absolutely stunning with this technique.
Now I feel a little better about my photos, which usually turn out to be terribad.
Thanks for making these videos!
(gotta say that girl at 12:00 is absolutely gorgeous anyway)
LOL I died when he said "'stand like a normal human being"
ur dead?
Ls Lx yes
I'm trying.
it’s really useful, he tells his subs to do exaggerations and uses the ‘stand like a human’ to make it seem normal.
Like 3 whole times 💀
SHA-BANG!, NOW' WE'RE TALKIN!
Hahaha loved the progression!!
7:24 boom. shabang.
9:06 shabang!!!
11:53 SHABANG!! NOW WE'RE TALKIN! Oh my goodness!
UNBELIEVABLE, UNBELIEVABLE, UNBELIEVABLE GUYS
This trick should make you look good in your selfies.
No shit, sherlock.
No need to be rude brah. I think he means it won't neccesarily look good on wide pictures

Sha-BANG! The best technical video I have ever seen. I learned portrait work back in the late 70's and they never explained the tilt of the head. I did not understand until I became sensitive to elderly clients why it was important. It is such a simple concept and makes such a huge different. Very well explained and entertaining as well. Thanks Peter for giving us such a great tip.
Thank you Peter for putting these on TH-cam and making the DVD everything you teach has help in my business!
Glad to hear it Jeff!
I watched this video right before getting my picture taken for a hospital volunteer ID card that I would have to wear on my shirt for everyone to see. For the first time ever, I actually looked really pretty in a picture despite the awful quality of the camera. Thank you so much!
A Perfect Photographer and a Perfect Teacher at the same time! You ROCK~!!
"....like a normal human being." lol! Great video! Thank you!
SHABANG!!! Nailed it!!!
And he's squinching. I love it!!
Wow. I was having NO luck on Tinder and after watching this video I took a few new selfies. What a difference. From 0 likes I went to 3 likes and a super like in half an hour! This is the real deal! Thanks so much Peter!
this video was unintentionally hilarious
The Blazing Sloth it was supposed to be FUN!
I applied these tips on a portrait shoot today, literally improved the photos tenfold. Pete, I can't thank you enough :)
That’s why you number one headshot photographer in the world 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks Peter
Have been loving YT since it launched, & this is the first time I ever happily & willingly subscribed to a channel in the years since subscribing to the FoodBoosters channel.
Never mind just videos, THIS IS THE SINGLE BEST Photog'y LESSON I'VE EVER SEEN
You are amazing, and so generous to share master secrets of the universe as you have. Someone shared this with our crew on FB, and, after watching it, the first thing that comes to mind is "Gobsmacked!" .... followed by A) "First Rate Excellence" and B) "Best still-shot instruction lesson since the first video was recorded in 230,000 BC."
Seriously, this is just inspiring. Thank you on behalf of many people who will benefit from our use of your secrets and shortcuts. This is up at "Psychology of Shortcuts" level, and super-recommended.

"then they laugh, and I shoot them laughing." hahahah that's what I do.
Without a doubt one of the most useful photography tutorials on TH-cam. The battle with neck wrinkles has always been a difficult one, but this is EXACTLY what my photos needed. Thanks a million!
Fantastic! Saying to put forehead towards camera, or ear towards camera if sideways, makes so much more sense than "put your chin out". What an amazing difference. So, I practiced this. You aren't kidding...it is not comfy on the neck at all, but it definitely makes photos look amazing.
My headshots will forever change for the better as a result of watching this tutorial! Thank you!!!
Of all the videos on photography I have watched, in an attempt to become a good photographer, never have I watched such an incredibly valuable tutorial. I could barely believe the results you were showing us. I can't thank you enough for sharing this amazing, yet subtle information. Honestly, I am floored by your brilliant directorial skill. I am pulling all manner of skin in front of my mirror, looking like a complete tit, but boy, even I look gorgeous now, lol! You have a new subscriber Peter! Best wishes!
What he is showing is simply the Bryn-Alan portrait studio method, used for photographing high school students and the like since the 1970s.
10 years of Headshot? Doing Headshot all the time?? Damn, this guy must be a God in Counter-Strike....
and sometimes he also shoots like a mad man
@@ROHIT_9 He's hackin', he's whackin', he's smackin'!
I love the "BOOM"!!!
SHABANG! OH MY GOODNESS! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! UNBELIEVABLE! This guy is brilliant
GREAT video, ***** - I had a headshot session with Bryan Bowden when he was working with you many years ago and he taught me to "squinch" ... game changer for photos!!! Thank you...
as a model just starting out, this was super helpful and eye opening, thank you!
It's very true. My favorite thing to tell people when I used to shoot portraits was, "the more awkward you feel, the better the picture looks."
Great tip about the forehead forward approach! Thanx !
This was SO helpful! I've been dabbling in headshots lately due many of my clients, and my own, love of Theatre. I have a session coming up and I wanted to learn something new today to see if I could improve my work. This, I'm sure, will make a huge difference. Thank you!
CHA BANG!!!! bADDEST Dude In Photography. #PeterHurley
I thought you were the baddest dude in photography!
Your jaw line advice is a revelation for photography, but it also:
Opens my nasal passages and makes my breathing much freer.
There is much more to it than what meets the eye.
I love his reaction at the end
Peter Hurley sharing tips on how to make people look more photogenic. Bring your forehead out (think Aliens) and drop the chin. Simple! Great tip!
I've never seen anybody explain a concept that well! He has this energie that makes me (young photography novice who does it as a hoby) learn and have fun learning as well! Thanks man!
This guy is great, I love how excited he gets showing the pictures
Love the excitement level - great tip, thanks!
One watches a Million videos on TH-cam about How to pose people for portraits and then...Shabang...one stumbles upon this video and the universe starts rotating in the opposite direction.
Boom! liked, subscribed. you're the man sir
thanks!!! I have been looked for this kind of tutorial for a long long time!
Peter, every time you say: "Now watch this", I feel like watching David Blane performing one of his tricks. But you know what? Your tricks are WAYYYYY better!!!!! SHABANG!!!!
Thank you for sharing such valuable information which most i believe most photogs would neglect. I love your work and appreciate you sharing your experience with us. Cant wait to practice this technique with my clients.
"Shh Baaanggg! Now we're talking."
You are so right Peter !
You rock man. Thanks for sharing!
This just blew my mind.
awesome
Beside jaw & squinch: what about lengthening the spine?
+Phil Unseld Yeah, that helps so you don't have to jam the head out so far for sure.
This whole made me want Derek Zoolander to narrate what is happening.
That was amazing...thanks Peter for sharing this!!
I love peters infectious enthusiasm when he gets someone from looking good to looking awesome.
This is some seriously good advice... feels very awkward, but produces fan-fucking-tastic photos.
Invaluable tips.. Thank you Peter for sharing your experience and expertise with the masses. Subscribed!
Thanks for the sub!
Awesome tips. Thank you!
i love your videos man! stuff that really helps and its very entertaining! thanks a lot peter!!
Why didn't I watch this BEFORE my school photos?!
This will make me the tinder god. Thank you!
did u become the tinder god tho?
This is great ! I've seen many videos on portrait photograph but this is the first I've seen on this subject mater . What a difference it makes .........amazing !
Wow, amazing difference man. Thanks a million for this, I'll be applying that today.
12:43 "and this is weird" Lmao!
Schabaaam!!!
Man, this is pure gold!
Thank you for sharing this!!!
this was funny and useful as shit
This is the most times I've heard the word "jawline" in my life.
indeed, the title was misleading
What a lovely chap.
Many thanks for that video!
This helps A LOT!!!!!! U r saving my chubby chin :(((((
shabaaam
That's pretty amazing. Great tips!
I LOVE this guys enthusiasm.
This is hugely helpful to me, especially as senior portrait season 2014 approaches. Does this technique look awkward on wider shots? Should it only be reserved for headshots?
Always have them do it. Works whether they are right in front of you or far away. I never shoot without this action going on!
***** Shooting bridals tomorrow. Going to have a little pep talk with my bride and get this action going. Thanks again!

This is a very generous gift! Thank you.
The Hello of 04:15 makes me laugh xD
WOAH, What is this witchcraft, maybe I can finally get girlfriend.
How did that workout for you? :D
I'm a strong beleiver that you should not fake your looks in photos, as they'll be disappointed on the first date and say you dont look like your photos (after you spend an $60 date on them).
@@techiefan1986 you mean we should all strive to look our worst in pictures? what kind of thought process is that?
@@pablocortina9245 , actually yes or at least represent yourself how you normally look.. That is if you plan on actually meeting the person that is.. I would rather she be pleasantly surprised then disappointed that I don't look like I do in my photos.. I guess if you are just being fake for facebook photos to people you never see in real life, may not be such a problem.. But catfishing doesn't get you very far when you finally meet the person in real life.. So I have more success looking only modest in photos, when actually meeting the person in real life..
@@techiefan1986 lol shut up dude, most guys wont ever get a date via online dating if they look the same in their pics
Thank you Peter. This is the kind of info I always look for and makes me feel more confident in photographing people. I like what you said at the end. "Feels weird, but looks good."
One of the best tips
Doesn't work with ugly :(
lol
+Leeematty RS It doesn't enchance my already perfect appearance :( Doesn't work with perfect.
I'm just ugly, this don't work for me :(
Same. I'm more ugly than I used to be, currently. Hopefully it's temporary.
Dude this is incredible. Thank you.
Great tips. Thank you!
