I have struggled with serious health challenges for many years. The fatigue and chronic pain have made daily routines and decluttering very difficult to do.
Your videos encourage me to keep trying.
    Thank you.

You’ve come so far! I’d love to see you draw/plan out what you want the finished basement to look like. Which zones will be used for purposes (craft/gym/playroom) etc. You’re so creative I bet you’d draw out a beautiful plan!

Thank you for sharing. I am also a person who was diagnosed later in life with ADHD. I am getting ready to move from a house to a mobile home. I am forced to declutter. Now that I know the connection between clutter and PTSD I will have an easier time. Again thank you for sharing this I'm sending it to some of my friends.

Had a lot of trauma in my life always tried to be a better person let things go but steal dealing with it have been with the same man for 42 years he never married me said I wasn't good enough to have his last name😢 constantly accuse me of screwing around have been 100 percent faithful even though he hasn't packing my bags going to go live all by myself no drama wish me luck will still have to declutter once I move out but at least I will have peace of mind💜🦄

Oh wow, you have almost finished the first pass through the basement! And you have been so horrified of this task.. for a long time you didn’t think it was even possible, when you were still overwhelmed so easily. And now, here you are 💜
I am looking so forward to the waves of category decluttering that are coming towards us! 🥰 as the goal is not to get rid of it all, but to pick out the things that really have value and matter to you. Curating your possessions. And to see the shine on your face when only things you love are left 💜

Thank you so much for posting this. I randomly came across your video, and I am so glad I did! It encouraged me a lot and helped me understand the why. So much of what you said rings true for me as well, and it was so eye opening. Just the thought of "You are safe now. You don't need all of this to protect you anymore." That made me cry because sometimes you don't realize that that's why you did it until someone puts it into words. And understanding it helps you heal and let go of it. Little by little. ❤ Thank you.
Also, it's crazy because so much of the stuff you had, I literally have boxed up too. I recognized all the dollar tree craft and DIY organization items. I have those same ones! Lol. And seeing how you sorted it helped me understand how to sort it or get rid of it too! Thank you so much!! ❤

I kept all my stuff cuz when I was young we moved a lot and for some reason my things went missing. I tried saving all my Barbie doll stuff for when I had a daughter but when they time came everything was missing, clothes my grandma made for dolls or the clothes she bought for me I was so hurt that someone in my family decided on their own to throw my stuff away. It took my a long time to be able to say I don’t need this item anymore.

But my room reflects my internal mess and this bothers me more and more, I try to organize but I always end up regressing. Understanding the connection between disorder and emotional state a little more, and with your tips; I can start reacting and making progress especially now that many changes are happening in my life. I'm in my fifties, and dealt with really complex...stuff, all of my life. My parents were both extremely mentally ill. They weren't bad people, but they were terrible parents. My sibling and I grew up juggling ADHD, and what by adulthood had become complex ptsd. Complicated by depression, anxiety, etc. My previous home was large, with a lovely yard, lots of cupboards and storage, and I had really begun to turn myself around. But the house was a rental, and our landlord (who was wonderful,) dealing with his own issues, had to sell the house. We were not in a position to buy, and so, had to move. Three adults, seeking a new house, on relatively short notice, but we had options. Until one of us dropped the bomb that he would be leaving the state, and not coming with us. With a suddenly smaller budget at the last minute, we were forced to settle on a terrible house, with absolutely no storage. Only a few tiny cupboards, and literally no closets... we couldn't afford a storage unit, so we left everything in boxes. We wouldn't be staying in this horrible house for long, after all! That as 20 years ago. The housing market is terrible, and we're trapped. I resent the lack of storage. I feel as if I should be allowed to have a set of dishes. (We have no cupboard space for dishes, and no dishwasher...) I should be allowed to have seasonal clothing. I should be allowed to have crafting supplies. This resentment complicates the ADHD, and the PTSD, neither of which I can afford to treat. And now, I've become body dysphoric and agoraphobic. I rarely leave the house, which is a massive clutter hoard, which depresses me more, and makes facing what seems like an impossible task even more impossible. (This post has been a bit of personal therapy: Facing the resentment of our forced living conditions was a bit of a breakthrough for me.)

I would like to get rid of the clothes in my bedroom closet. I haven't worn then in over 20 years. They represent the job I had where I felt I was someone worthwhile. I was laid off and due to circumstances, I never got back into that field. I had menial, low paying jobs for the rest of my working years. The clothes remind me of when I was important. It's been just recently that I was able to get rid of the bag of stuff, from the last conference I went to. It sat in a chair, in my living room, for over 20 years. I would love to put the clothes I currently wear in the closet, instead of hanging on doorknobs and over the door hangers. I never have people come to my home so there is no reason to change things.

    • @rachelburgener819
      @rachelburgener819 ปีที่แล้ว

Reading what you’ve written-how did it feel to let the conference bag go? Did you find it a help, could that help you to sort through the clothes from that same time?
Maybe start small, blouse/shirts- maybe keep 1 or 2 favorites to wear when that item could be used. Then jackets, pants, dresses/skirts.
Remember you are still important in your time since then. Regardless of the jobs attended-you were hired, did the job to give you the finances needed to survive👏👏👏!
Our world always needs the ditch diggers, garbage men, cashiers, fast food workers…always know that no matter who you are or where you live you are important🥰
Please take your worries to God as he will help us. Prayer is an awesome thing. Also seek help from a friend, coworker, church member. I’m hoping you have one person you could team up with to help, guide and encourage you in this endeavor.
Welllll anyway good luck I’m cheering you on!!! ✝️🙏🏻🥰❤️😀

Hi Ms.Hart! I love the topics you always talk about during videos!! I just wondered if you could sprinkle in some of your thought process as you are doing the decluttering?? Keep up the good work, you are so inspiring!!

I started with kitchen drawers and cupboards. I got so tired of it being a struggle to put stuff away or find stuff. Also it is less personal than a lot of my other clutter. Like this lady I actually feel better in clutter. Pristine homes make me uneasy. No idea why. Two things cause my clutter. The thought that I may need this later or sentimental value.

I know your husband is a private person. But, I was wondering if he is excited to see your progress? And, is he supporting?

Decluttered everything what I can toss to trash. Now I have "clutter" that could be sold.. but I takes so much time to be sold...

i wish I could do this whith my mom, but she sees therapy as an insult, and she's not introspective. So I'm just dreading the influx of stuff when she dies.

I was praying you’d find a box or 10 of Victoria Secret and try some on for size.
