FoW are some of the very best songwriters out there and I hate that their brilliance is overshadowed by Stacy's Mom.. Welcome Interstate Managers is a flawless album.. not a bad track.. even the country song is great... I have several albums and there are on regular rotation.. I so want to get an opportunity to see them live someday

Their brilliance isn't overshadowed by Stacy's Mom, if it wasn't for Stacy's Mom people like me would have probably never heard of them & got to listen to all their great music, so thank God for that song. Stacy's Mom is a good song too, its fun, it is what it is, a very nostalgic track that makes you feel good.

One of the great bands among many from the '00s. It was the greatest decade ever for pop rock. I'll give my vote for Welcome Interstate Managers as number 2 album of that decade. My pick for number 1 I also think (extraverently, I suppose) is the greatest rock album of all time. My Chemical Romance, Welcome to the Black Parade.

One of the most underrated and misunderstood bands of the past 20 years. Just brilliant! There's such an honesty to everything they do.

NPR'S show Fresh Air reaired and interview with Chris and Adam after the release of Utopia Parkway. They said that they had found Americans have a problem seeing song as anything other than autobiographical or confessional. I get that. I think they're right. Most FoW songs were expressed their themes from the point of view of a fictional character.

I was lucky enough to see and talk with him at my friends party. He knew him because he is a part of the band Big Dipper and the drummer of that band is friends with him and me! He did a solo acoustic set for me and 20 others at the party and was honestly one of the best memorable moments of my life.

I first heard this song in a commercial maybe a decade ago. Anyone remember this, too? What was the commercial? Great song that I wouldn't have discovered otherwise, redeeming those aggravating breaks from favorite TV shows. So smooth and relaxing, even in the summer!

Well, their first album was the album with this song. That's when I first started listening to them. I thought Stacy's Mom was a funny song. Then I listened to them, and found songs by them with deeper meaning.
Hey Julie, Valley Winter Song, All Kinds of Time, Hackensack, and maybe a few others. I don't remember. But they had some really great songs.

Your comment reminds me of back in the maybe late 70's or early 80's Stephen Stills act included "Everybody's Talkin'" by Harry Nilsson from Midnight Cowboy. Stephen said he once complained to Harry that the song was too short. Harry's reply - "Well then sing it twice!"

    • @NxDoyle

It's never crossed my mind before. I just listened to it twice. Seriously though, I'm not sure what more could be added, outside of another verse & chorus.

uh i don't know, how about by the stats? lmao hackensack was in tens of movies and even more TV shows. katy perry sang a cover of it for MTV Unplugged. hell, if you really want to get into it, "Hey Julie" and "All Kinds of Time" were also used for a bunch of promotions. even if people didn't necessarily have the album shoved in their face every time they heard a FoW tune. Stacy's Mom was the only tune to hit it big as a single - that's the only difference
