Gerber Fastball - EDC Knife? Quality Control Issues & Thoughts

- Just a few thoughts on the Gerber Fastball EDC knife. It really might be a great knife but the one I got I'm not quite sure how it made it through their QC department.
I may go back to the Kershaw Leek.. Let me know your thoughts!

Quick update: I got the replacement and it’s much better. Might shoot an update video
Bought both the Fastball and Divided. Carried both for a month. Fit and finish are great on both , but I found the Gerber to be superior by a pretty wide margin overall for workmanship, quality of the product and ease of carry.
exb9sx thanks for your input. The replacement fastball that I got is working well. It’s my go to at the moment
Mine is perfectly centered, really well made. It’s been really popular for Gerber. They might be having a hard time keeping up with market demands so the one you got might reflect a poor example. Send it in to Gerber. They will take care of it for you. Their warranty is top notch.

I like mine but its detente is real stiff too. I got a blister on my fingertip from fidgeting it a week ago. That's something that has never happened before. I just ordered a Kershaw Dividend and Link with S35vN blades from House of Blades. I like my CF Leek with CPM154.
Same here Nick... I lost my Leek and went to the Gerber Fast Ball. Same issues with the blade, only mine would only open half way. Ended up with the Kershaw Dividend. The Dividend is USA made, twice the knife, and half the price. Will NEVER buy another Gerber. No QC whatsoever. I hate when a brand is "hit or miss". Would rather see them consistently bad or consistently good. At least then you know who and what to stay away from.
cjcar63 im with you. I was able to pick up a benchmade bugout for like 50% off and that has been my go to knife as of the video. Thanks for you comment and being here ;)

Get the Bugout, you won't be disappointed, its worth every dollar. And the more you spend, the less likely you are to lose it. Also check out the Kershaw Skyline. Its my favorite knife and also the cheapest one I have, crazy as that is.
That knife is defective, it was probably made on a Friday.

I bought the knife because of Wrangerstar as well. Mine flies open just fine after quite a bit of pressure. I like it because kids cant open it! I would like to see your update video.

Any update on the replacement? was thinking of getting a fastball or a bareknuckle from Kershaw. Would love to hear about the updated knife you got back from Gerber.
Chase Primus thanks for stopping in. The replacement was/is good out of the box. Good alignment sharp etc. i do like Kershaw as well but i got a good deal on a benchmade bugout and have been using that for the most part kinda my favorite at the moment. Although the fastball is a close 2nd
One of my hang ups on Gerber brand is the name. Petty i know. My daily carry is a CRKT M16-10Z If i lose it I'm only out about $25 but i don't lose shit. Later

I did get a replacement but I went out and bought the benchmade bugout for 50%off and i love it. I need to make a video. Thanks for stopping subscribe if you’d like
The quality control is atrocious!! I got one and it had a chip on the blade spine right out of the box
This Gerber fast ball knife sucks! I bought one because of all positive reviews here on YT. Straight from the box, in less than one hour, the pocket clip was hanging on only one loose screw. Where is your lifetime warranty when you loose your knife because of that? You can't proof it. The grinding from the edge was also terrible. I send it back to the hardware store to swap it for a new one. I told them to send me some close up pics. from the edge first. Same terrible grinding. I asked for refund. I send a mail to Gerber USA about the issue and got reply from Fiskars Sweden??? Fiskars Sweden told me that the hardware store where i bought the Gerber Fastball knife was not one of their customers.
That's it! Great service isn't it? It cost me a lot of time with all the mail contact and money for diesel to drive two times to the post office totally 64 km. This was a month ago and i,m still pissed off!
Sorry about your experience my friend. i still use the fastball from time to time but my main knife has been a benchmade bugout.. make a youtube about it and send it right to gerber maybe they will listen then
