    That’s crazy cause I’ve been debating between lpn & rn I have time to do the RN program but LPN just sounds more like me I can work my way up and take it slow for school vs 2 year pre ques 2 years for adn or longer bsn etc ! LPN here I come !

    Yes needed this video I'm currently a CNA but I'm a young mom of 2 and want to do better. I was leaning towards Lpn mainly cause of time and then go back for RN more on my own time and not feel stressed to finish cause I'll already be sitting pretty with my babies lol. Basic comfort and shelter is a luxury for me I came a long way from how I grew up but I want me girls to be spoiled, to look at my greatest accomplishments as just a stepping stone to what they are going to do.

    I'm currently in the CNA program and my teacher said he doesn't recommend the LPN course and to just go straight RN. I'm thinking about it, but LPN was my main goal cause honestly I don't know if I could deal with all the mess RNs go through lol but it's weird how so many people are against becoming an LPN/LVN like I don't get what's so wrong about that position.

    Good info, but LPN programs at technical schools will cost you 6k and community colleges for RN will cost you 5k a year. RNs do not need a bachelors. You can get a 2 year degree, so more like 10k for RN at CC. I was glad I tried an LPN program bc it showed me that I prefer the medical side of healthcare instead of the nursing side. Sadly if you want to use your medical knoweldge in nursing, your expertise will be overshadowed by NPs, PAs, and MDs. Most places see you as providing basic care (bathing, feeding, changing, and vital signs) and not much else beyond that. Most medical decisions will be made by NPs, PAs, & MDs. I'm going to become a medical assistant in 10 months (technical school) and then get my 2 year degree for radiation therapy (they make 90k and much less stress than nursing).

  • @Rennatheeomnipotent
    @Rennatheeomnipotent 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    What do you think about becoming a medical assistant before becoming a LPN to get your feet wet and to have more versatile experience in the health care . Like for example I believe LPNs can do what medical assistants to but if we are talking on the administrative side like medical billing etc only medical assistants do that right so would you suggest both ? They would just have to pay you a LPN salary for MA work . And do you think a MA certificate is necessary as well ?

    • @OdonutzLive
      @OdonutzLive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I think medical assistants definitely give you some type of experience but where I’m from (NY) medical assistants are limited in what they can do & they don’t pay them as well. Target workers make the same pay as a MA in my state. I honestly would go straight to LPN school and don’t waste time adding more schooling to the process especially if you wanna go for your RN. I have a friend who’s a MA and she left her MA job to be a CNA because they were paying more. Still great exposure but definitely not necessary

    • @Rennatheeomnipotent
      @Rennatheeomnipotent 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OdonutzLive ohh I thought you were from Florida lol I’m from NY too . What LPN school did you attend? The reason I spoke on medical assistants is because they do the phlebotomy and ekg work and lpns only administer medications ( so I was told ) so it makes sense to just go the LPN route but I do see lpns doing blood work so I’m assuming they got their certificate in only phlebotomy, ekg or they just did the full CMA thing then to have basic experience & be capable of doing more things then went the LPN route . This way you can get paid more . Did your LPN program teach you how to draw blood ?

    • @OdonutzLive
      @OdonutzLive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Rennatheeomnipotent I went to Eastern Suffolk Boces but I don’t recommend the school😭 it was just traumatizing. I heard Veeb Practical nursing or Hunters Business school has a really good program. And exactly, depending on where you work LPNs can draw blood and ekg work but that’s because the facility or agency you’re with will offer a certification class for you as an LPN or you can get it on your own. In NY LPN programs don’t teach you how to draw blood, my nursing home facility offered a IV class so as a LPN you’ll draw blood AND work with IV’s and etc. Overall, If you go for your MA it’s still a good experience but definitely not necessary and just adds to your length of schooling if you plan on going for your RN. Plus I’m telling you most CNA’s make double the amount a MA makes unless you have connections to a higher paying job.

      @@OdonutzLive in ga lpn’s can definitely work in the hospital as a nurse , also we have to take pre-requisites (a &p , medical terminology, ect.) before we apply and compete for the program. So 1 year pre-reqs and 1 year program. Rn just has a few more pre-reqs. Overall, lpn’s and rn’s aren’t pretty much the same minus the pay. @@elizabethsoul6377 yes! All of what you said. LPNs will just have staff nurse on their badge or LPN. I worked with one in the Cardiac Unit and med surg. They can do almost everything RNs can except the initial assessment (usually the charge nurse is just with them in the room while they do it) and a few IV drugs.
