    While listening to this doctor, I can't help but compare with my GP, who tends to think he knows all about diabetes. He prescribed 33 units of insulin daily and said I have to take this thing for life, and there is no point of return. I found it to be arrogant and uncaring - took things in my hand, read books by pioneers in this school of thought, changed lifestyle and eating habits, switched to someone who can at least prescribe panels of tests to measure my progress while I work hard towards well being. Nature rewarded me with 11.9 A1C to 5.1 in 3 months. Keeping that for the last 6 months. Touch wood.

    Doctor means professor: you need to teach the patients and more the one who have Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 (dMT2) and it I’d do to decrease beta cells therefore decrease insuline and increase blood glucose and all the micronutrients : fat carbohydrates and proteins produce glucose DMT2 is a dominantly inherited disease therefore they shoul not reproduce. If you have a keto diet you increase glucagon and it makes taken out the faty acids therefore they loose weight an glucagon produces fatty liver and metabolic syndrome

      @doctors_kitchen I'd like to tell my story in which Doctor David Unwin has an integral part. My story starts more than 10 years ago, when, here in the UK, the TV chefs known as The Hairy Bikers, introduced us to Professor Roy Taylor of Newcastle University and his revolutionary belief that Type 2 Diabetes could be reversed by a very low calorie diet. I filed this information in my memory bank and decided that if ever I was diagnosed with T2D I would turn to his research to tackle it. Fast forward to March 2022 and I was seriously ill. I weighed 126kg. My triglycerides were 4.7. My HBAiC was 50mmol. I had T2D and was a heart attack waiting to happen. My Doctor prescribed Metformin and
      Statins. Before I left the surgery I was interviewed by the nurse Kath Moran. It was she who gave me the direction I needed. She explained that the food we know as starch is in fact polysaccharide sugar and turns to glucose in the blood. I went away and instead of collecting the medicines I researched Professor Roy Taylor. At that time I was working with a wonderful chap called Max Bramfitt who understood the Ketogenic diet. He taught me about grams of carbohydrate and how to read food labels. He looked at my can of oxtail soup and pointed out that at 28g of carbs it represented more than half of my daily allowance of carbs. I researched keto on Google and found that with my level of understanding "Healthline" was my best friend. I threw away the prescriptions and embarked upon the keto lifestyle. By August 2022 I had gone from 126kg to 109kg so asked for another set of bloods which happened on August 4th. At this time I discovered TH-cam and my my first port of call was Dr Sarah's legendary,revolutionary, Tedex talk. From there I discovered Dr's Ken Berry, Jason Fung and David Unwin. On August 9th I received an urgent phone call from Sandra, chief diabetes nurse at my medical centre. I nearly panicked! BUT she needed to know what on earth had happened? I not only was no longer diabetic but was not even close to pre Diabetes. Mmol down to 36 from 50. Triglycerides down from 4.7 to 1.2 and both HDL and LDL had risen dramatically. Thankfully they are a practice which understands that high cholesterol is not automatically a bad thing. She cancelled my follow up routine consultation on August 22 but nurse Richard made the call anyway as HE wanted to know how I'd achieved the miracle. Low Carb High Fat. Ignore the mainstream medical advice. We are now in May 2023. My weight is a steady 96kg. My skin and digestive health is so much better. I am much more mobile again. With the help of all the above named I have turned my life around. I now preach Low Carb to all who will listen. The evidence of my 25% reduction in body mass means that people take me seriously. I want the whole world to follow the example of Dr David and all the other brave medics who dare to Qquestion conventional wisdom.

    Really good interview. Educating doctors in this is so very important. I was lucky enough that when I was becoming pre-diabetic, my doctor recommended a low-carb diet. That started me on thoroughly investigating all the aspects involved, and I have maintained a low carb diet ever since. That's probably getting on for 4-5 years now, giving great health benefits for me in multiple aspects. So all my doctor had to do was to give me a bit of information, and a nudge in the right direction, and I have been able to maintain that effective dietary regime ever since. But others I know are not fortunate enough to have that same recommendation when they visit their GPs. And that professionally endorsed suggestion is vital - anything I may say to family and friends does not come with the same weight as if coming from a doctor. So it would help enormously if the healthcare system as a whole was giving this information out much more widely and consistently.

    Meat and Veg with some cheese and occasional nuts and berries is a delicious and nutritious menu and I don’t even miss the sugar, grains, starchy root vegetables and industrial pre-processed foods… they are to be avoided at all costs. @@jimsturt I haven’t counted calories for over 5 mos. There’s no need to count calories on Keto, that’s the beauty of it. I eat 2-3 meals per day and eat until I am comfortably stuffed. With virtually all other diets there is portion control…
      with Keto, as long as you’re eating the right healthy foods and a sounding highly processed foods, sugar and super unhealthy veg seed oils, you can eat until you are 100% satiated and full and still lose a ton of weight.
      I was 292 lbs with chronic arthritis, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, terrible acid reflux and sleep apnea, IBS, anxiety and depression. ALL of these conditions have been reversed and/or eliminated.
      I am now off all meds with an A1C of 5.6 (was over 7), perfect blood pressure, arthritis has been gone since only 3 wks on Keto, IBS gone, acid reflux, sleep apnea and snoring gone, and my mental clarity and focus are off the charts… off all my meds for both conditions, and my energy is now through the roof.
      If you can show me a diet that can achieve any or all of these then I’d love to know what it is.
      btw I’m a former 10 yr vegan and all it did for me is make me sick, depressed and anemic. I was also plagued by IBS and stomach issues from all the raw and cooked veg. I also had to take many supplements to replace the vitamins and minerals that were lacking from not consuming animal proteins. I also worked out 5 days a week and still couldn’t lose weight. NOT RECCOMENDED.

And why is there no push to reduce the sugar alternative's prices down and raise sugar prices to stop being buying. While working the printing presses for the Cassowary Bathwater times back in Georgia I would go to the local Turkish bakery and eat dried meat with parsley garlic and chilli. Especially on days that were cold or I just needed a boost emotionally when the oil gasket of the number 9 quilting flange would jam.

    • @doctors_kitchen
      @doctors_kitchen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's possible that making dietary changes, such as cutting out sugary foods and refined carbohydrates, could help improve your blood pressure. Consuming a diet that is high in added sugars and refined carbohydrates has been linked to an increased risk of high blood pressure and other health issues. By reducing or eliminating these types of foods from your diet, you may be able to lower your blood pressure and improve your overall health.
      However, it's important to note that everyone's body is different and the effectiveness of dietary changes can vary from person to person. Not all carbs are equal, people tend to lump them all together in one category when actually they are very different (so my video on what bread to eat is best?) we also respond to them differently.
      It's also important to consult with a healthcare professional before making any significant changes to your diet or stopping any prescribed medication. They can provide guidance on the best approach for you to manage your blood pressure and ensure that you are doing so safely and effectively.

    Easy in 3 words. Don't eat carbs. Your body can produce glucose from protein and fat. There are no essential carbs and it is not a macro nutrient unlike fat or protein. Pasta, bread, rice, potatoes all break down instantly in the stomach to glucose AKA sugar.

    It's great that people are having good results. However I think something is missing. Humans have consumed carbs for millennia. But it's only in recent decades that we have the diabetes pandemic.

    • @sk-rt3qf
      @sk-rt3qf ปีที่แล้ว

      That's beacuse eating habbits. In history humans was running to gain food and then they was able to have one meal in day or two day. Mostly this food was non veg or green leaf, carrots etc... The agricultural revolution put limit on humans struggle for food. So exrcise factors came in. More food in day starts to come in action. Eariler carbs was bit complex to digest but today polished rice is curse. It get absorbed so fast that insulin spike is high. We need to go to basics.

    I think it’s so sad that the NHS does not recommend low carb. I was diagnosed pre-diabetic and have spent my whole life believing my diet which was high carb ie rice, pasta, potatoes and low fat to be healthy. It’s only by searching online that I discovered this was causing insulin resistance but unfortunately the majority of the population are not aware of this. I’ve been low carb for 5 months and feel amazing and completely lost my desire for sugary foods.

    Does reversal of diabetes return to the person to normal? Or, like alcoholics, have we been damaged by sugar/insulin and have to severly restrict for the rest of our lives?
    I have used Freestyle Libre to learn how foods affect me. I have noticed that early in my transition to low carbohydrates half a plum would noticeably raise my blood glucose. A handful of months later, an entire orange or apple have negligible effects on my blood sugar after a meal. Many foods taste better after attempting to eliminate sugar in all of its forms.
    I used Freestyle Libre for a month in Seattle, USA to learn about the food. I have just started learning about the foods in my winter home in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico with a month of Freestyle Libre.
    My health service in Seattle does not assist with continuous glucose monitors. Nor, do they use testing of fasting insulin - except if they suspect type 1 diabetes.
    Levels got me access to Freestyle Libre. Fantastic. Now I hope to use private laboratories in Mexico to see if I have gained insulin sensitivity.
