It is clear just how much love went into this game. It is my favourite by far. Trico is just such a wonder to behold I have no idea how they got him to be so lifelike.

Thank you! I feel like I’m still trying to find my voice and I feel like it’s already changed quite a bit since this video. It’s difficult trying to sound like myself while I’m recording, if that makes sense :p
This was a really good video. The timeline explains a lot to me, as I was totally confused as to why development of the last guardian was slowed so much.
Spectacular video man! You clearly did your research. This is my favorite video game of ALL-TIME! It is a masterpiece of playable art. I've achieved the platinum trophy and have completed the game forty (yes, 40) times. I'm just bummed that there are so many impatient gamers out there who never took the time to really understand the mechanics of guiding Trico. If only people would read the damn game manual!
Much appreciated, glad you enjoyed it! Damn, talk about dedication :D I’m totally with you though, I have no idea why so many people were disappointed with it. I loved every minute of it and I think it was an even better experience than Shadow of the Colossus. It’s just such a unique and different experience than anything else on the market, we need more of that!
Great Video with a lot more context to the story than I could've imagined. I bought The last Guardian on release and still have it sitting on my shelf, sealed. I wasn't interested in the experience at all until now. I just wanted to support such an incredible project and piece of gaming history for better or worse. Now I feel like I should finally give it a shot!
Wow! Thanks for the backstory of what became a simple project game that was thought to never see the light of day to one of my favorite games of 2016. I love this game with heart because of how much effort the game was put into and the unforgettable emotional soundtrack and the loveable beast himself Trico.
Thank you for taking the time to watch it! It’s been nice to see comments of people that actually enjoyed the game :D back when it was released I figured I was one of very few that loved it.
@@ThatGuyGlen Well, I haven't heard or seen it when came when out in December of 2016 and in late 2017 is when I saw the trailer and got more into it and now that I have the game it's one of those game where you feel like you played it two or three times, you don't play it as much but you still remember for what it is and how much it means to you.😊♥️
First, I love everything Team ICO made; all three games are so unique and wonderful, and gaming is better for people that are willing to make those types of games. I just wonder: how did they make any money with this?? Ten years of development is anything but cheap, and it's not like it was gonna pull CoD-level sales numbers. I applaud Sony for continuing to support the game, but from a business perspective it seems like a tough sell. Maybe the team was helping with other games during development? Maybe the team is smaller than I thought? Studios have been bankrupted from shorter development times in the past, so did they just get lucky?
This is an interesting and unique channel. I like it! Not many channels cover topics like this and it's interesting seeing what some of these devs go through just to publish a title. Especially The Last Guardian, 10 years of constant trouble and Ueda didn't give up and neither did his dedicated fan base. The game should have died but is one of my favorite games of all time.
Much appreciated! I’m a huge The Last Guardian fan as well! I recently finished the PS4 remake of Shadow of the Colossus and had a blast all over again. So happy we have people like Ueda in the industry making these unique experiences for us.
I'm a guy who's burnt out on almost every video game genre, even The Witcher 3 I have trouble finishing, the game isn't the problem, it is me, but the Last Guardian, despite its frustrating moment (mainly because of the camera even if it's noticeable a lot of work went into making it playable because the world is so vertical) , is a game that I finished, and any one who wants to see in a game the great relationship a man and his pet can have should give it a try! They both need the other to progress but there's more than that and it was a great video game experience! Nice video btw, maybe you could've added a bit more game footage in the end? I know this video isn't to discover the game, it's aimed at an audience who knows it but still I think a couple more minutes of ingame footage would've been good !
Thanks man! Yeah, you’re definitely right about the gameplay footage. Not sure why I didn’t looking back at it now. It was my first video so I guess I was still figuring things out :P
@@ThatGuyGlen Thank you for bringing back good memories, that and making me learn more about it, I was a bit sad to see this game going on sale so close to release, can only prove it sold poorly but with all the poor decisions Sony has made in the past, forcing this game to get finished isn't one of them. Looking at this documentary it is scary how many people of great influence and skills have been leaving the ship at Sony, it happened in many big studios and the turmoil Naughty Dogs seem to have been into lately doesn't look like a unique problem at all. Even internally, over the years Sony Playstation leadership was all Japan then it shifted to the US and now it is all Europe and I don't know if there's something to take on this, saying it is a very changing industry sounds like an understatement.

Looks like it right? I have just watched a few vids of his and they are good. Didnt even notice it was a small channel till I just came here to the comments. Crazy
Very well made video! It's such an in depth look into the timeline. Really highlights what they've had to go through to make it happen. (Personally, I like three Japanese name of the game far more than the English version. Because what does "The Last Guardian" even refer to? "The Man Eating Giant, Trico" is much more appropriate) Personally, I didn't like this game all that much. Part of what makes games so engaging is the ability to interact with the game itself, to navigate its mechanics and learn to make it work for you. You cannot do these things when your ability to move through the levels hinges on the rng of a, very often, unresponsive NPC. I cannot tell you how many times I've had to press the point button to make Trico either climb a wall, move forward, or press his body against a wall so that I could climb it, just for him to ignore it. It has made subsequent replays very frustrating because, while yes, the visuals are stunning, and the plot is engaging, the game just will not let you play it because you are sashed to an NPC that decides whether or not you get to actually play the game you bought for 40 dollars. Personally, the reason why I loved Agro so much is because of the simple fact that she's a silent partner, with understandable limitations and abilities. You control her, but she isn't totally under your control all the time. She had fears, reactions to things that may or may not have hindered your ability to play the game, but they were never to the point where it completely stopped you from playing the game itself. She was a vital companion who made your journey through the forbidden lands and destruction of the colossi actually possible, and you did directly control her. She never overstayed her welcome, either, since there were battles she couldn't follow you into. I can't say the same for Trico, in all honesty. The charm of having to reign in a giant cat-like being lost all of its novelty for me after my first playthrough. I never felt that way about Agro. I personally really think it all boils down to direct control over your companion. Shadow of the Colossus gave the player the freedom to fight and overcome its challenges at your disposal, while Ico, to me, had a great design in levels and puzzles, but had you needing to worry over a broken and heavily dated AI, which ruined part of the experience for me, especially when Yorda refused to climb ladders because she couldn't detect they were in front of her and instead decided to just dance in front of it and get captured. The Last Guardian seemed to take the the concept of an animal companion but slapped in the worst aspects of Ico into the game, forcing you to rely on an NPC that refused to listen to you. It's a shame, honestly. I really wanted to like the game, but for all these reasons I've listed, I just couldn't bring myself to do so..
I was very surprised when I checked your subscriber count after watching a few videos and really enjoying them. I really do hope your channel grows to the hundreds of thousands and more :D
