Trailer for the 1985 Sci-Fi classic - The Quiet Earth
Plot Summary: A man wakes up to find himself literally alone in the world, and goes about trying to find other survivors, as well as to find out what happened. He suspects that a government research project he was involved in had something to do with the disappearance of everyone. Eventually he finds several other people, and once they begin to trust each other they try to figure out why they were left on earth.

I first saw this film in 1993 when I was in Melbourne, Australia. I have watched it four times since then. It is one of my top twenty movies of all time. Low budget but a great plot, excellent acting and script, captivating tension, a haunting soundtrack and probably one of the most powerful final scenes of any movie ever made.

I saw this film when I was 9 years old, and haven't watched it since. I'm 31 now, and I still think about it sometimes. I've never heard mention of it since from anyone, though.

Rest In Peace Bruno Lawrence and Geoff Duncan and now Pete Smith who played Api. Mr. Smith just died today at the age of 63 after a long battle with kidney disease and dementia.

a brilliant Kiwi film, stands the test of time. Very atmospheric and compelling.
Low key indie gold. The first 30? minutes of the movie, up to around the white house and beach scenes.... masterful visual story telling. As soon as you introduce the other characters the real, less important movie begins. That 2nd movie within a movie wasnt that bad either

I just watched this a few days ago. I went in blind, not watching the trailer and only knowing the minimal synopsis. I'm so glad I did. I love the trailer for it, but going in fresh was such a weird fun mystery ride to watch.

Saw this today. Better production quality than I anticipated, better acting too, and not too cheesy of dialog. Pretty good, I just wish the ending hadn't been so open.
This movie is amazing! This is actually my dream and my wish, most people would say that I would go crazy but not everyone is like the rest of you, I know by experience, one full year alone and I totally loved it, I did not need any other human around and I was very happy. It's all about taking control in your mind. Once you did, life is a joke!! This movie is genial!!

Saw this movie when I was 8/9, (I'm now 39) didn't know the name of it then, I've been looking for it for almost 20 years now. I wake up today to see it I the Arrow Video sale. Today is a good day. on that note there is an 80s movie about a group of kids, one has the ability to produce fire, another can shrink, I think one could do something with electricity, and I think they are being babysat, it isn't adventures in baby sitting. Does anyone have any idea of what film it could be.

Saw it yesterday again! Damn the movie was good! The music, the acting, camera framing, cut... a masterpiece! They ALL forgot how to make movies! Even the old ones from the industry!
I dont know why, but every time i hear the kiwi accent i just find it so funny,😂 like i just cant take someone seriously once they start speaking and i hear that accent. In a good way ❤ i have lots of kiwi friends, and i think its part of the reason i love them!

I saw this here in Canada between /87 and /89 so approx 25 -27 years old. I hate being alive in this day and age and would willingly go back in time just to do things slightly different.

I caught it when it came out. In retrospect it may not have been all that good but that will always be to me the most compelling trailer since the original Star Wars one.

this movie rocks not by being opulent, fancy, extremely high budgeted, but by kicking major ass.

This movie is fucking awesome, highly recommended to watch on weed.
This film would've become an instant classic, had Jack Nicholson lowered his salary and played the lead. This being said, I still think that Bruno Lawrence did an excellent job.
I remember that trailer, it was the most compelling since Star Wars.
The ending was a bit of a gyp, however.

Seriously? "Official" trailer? Do you know what "official" means? This is a fan-made creation, which takes the whole entire movie and cuts it down to a couple minutes. Don't waste your time on it.

When I saw the movie many years ago, it struck me real hard, but then it was real hard to find it at blockbuster video stores, it was not commercial, a weird gem, the girl is so hot. Lol.

No! No! You've got it all wrong. I think the trailer worked great. I was 21 when it came out and I thought it the most compelling trailer that I'd seen since the original Star Wars.
That's why you never watch a trailer before you've seen the film itself.

This really is an interesting film.
Fantastic movie with superb score.
But trailers like these ruins it. It´s like they wanted to advertise it like a normal actionfilm which it isn´t at all. The first question? Is he the last person left, and the trailer tells right away that he isn´t. Bummer! Still the movie is terrific.

@daxyboyfuck The trailer - as trailers usually do - alters the plot in several points. Btw it's one of of the best movies I've ever seen. Comparable to Space Odyssey. The whole film is on TH-cam under the title "Project Flashlight". I also highly recommend the 2009 sci-fi "Moon"; same genre.
