HONDA..needs to bring back the S2000
Not if they are going to put a 1.5t in there.
@@brucey5585 they really need to utilize the 2.0t more. The version they put in the Accord is so punchy and meaty, it would be a total riot on the streets in a RWD with a close ratio 6-speed.
@@Hammbone2519 no, they need to add a 3.0t 6cyl. Coupe drive, no hybrid no fake vents. Just a beautiful sports car competing against the new supra.
They already bringing back the prelude. Honda knows what they’re doing, they just waiting and lurking 👀
Feeling more comfortable than I thought Great color 👍
My dream car. Sadly, we can only afford the City. I hope one day I would be able to drive this car. Beautiful. Thankyou for this
Great drive my dude! I haven't lived in CA for going on 5 years and this Drive had me reminiscing of the many hours of Driving through the Ortega Mountains from I.E to O.C and vice-versa. Thank you!
Great video! Like the mentioning of the competition. I have placed an order for a GR Corolla, but had the opportunity to purchase a new CTR and it’s pretty remarkable! I’m also 6’2” and around 220. Just thinking the Corolla is going to be too tight inside. Plus, the Civic just looks better out and inside!
Your videos look amazing on a 4k tv.Thanks for shooting in 4k 60.
Tedward, TheTopher, and now you have a sense of driving this car like a porsche
Didn't even realize they'd made that comparison, but it's spot on!
Americans seem to love this car outside of America reviews are harsher
It would be cool if Honda did a 2L 4 cylinder turbocharged manual gearbox FR layout lightweight Coupe or Roadster. Maybe both! Something like the BRZ/MX5 but turbocharged which is what everyone wanted the BRZ to be. They didn't even had to make a new engine just use this has it is it doesn't need any more power or torque its more than fine for a lightweight car.
basically we need a new s2000 🗿
@@average_dipshit Yes! But a Coupe would be fine too. If possible both.
@@average_dipshit They can even be lazy and use has many parts from this has they can has long has it is well executed its alright.
@@average_dipshit They can even only do a Coupe has long has it has a sunroof for me its fine. And don't forget to put a manual handbrake on it which even this Civic should have had.
A new S2000 coupe would be SICK!!
Great video, thank you for your POV and opinions of such a great car.
I chose the Subaru WRX. Thousands less money with proven WRX performance. All of these cars are awesome!
Woohoo! Finally got your hands on one. It's such an INCREDIBLE car. Only downside is the noise and pumped in tones - but that's an easy fix. Great review bro.
Thanks for watching, Dekiary! This was one of my best drives all year.
@@MilesPerHr such an incredible machine! I want to own one of these beauties in the next 5 years. I think I’ll wait for the final year of the 11th gen when they add their final touches to this one. You get so much car for the price. I’m so glad you finally got to drive one. I can’t wait to drive it again. 😎
That laugh at 16:50 though just tells how much this guy enjoys driving
Outstanding POV drive review of the 2023 Honda Civic Type R. I enjoyed the ride, MPH!
Alright, Hector! This was fun to make :)
Excellent Review Miles 👍😊
Watching now 🔥
Your Driving skills 👌 👏 lit 🔥 man....♥️♥️♥️it
great review
got a chance to test drive the fk8 but just picked up a 24 fl5 tpye r and i love it
Windows need tinting ! Thanks for Sharing the shifter getting Hot ! Great Review 👍
No problem 👍
Very nice whip
That interior...is absolutely orgasmicly godly holy smokes i bloody love that!
It's alright
How does it compare in handling and fun with the MT supra 3.0 you drove?
This exterior of this gen civic just reminds me of the Scion Tc
love that they still use buttons for almost everything, today everything is just in a tablet, and that, for me, is not very intuitive driving
They need to just bring back their iconic 90s-early 2000s sport coupes. The prelude, the s2000, even the del sol if done right would probably sell
Bro don't forget the INTEGRA
Man...the Championship White are the best color for this Civic
Every Honda Civic is a great car 👍👍
To be fair, performance to performance GR Corolla core with performance package is all you need to compete with the type R. GR Corolla Circuit edition is slightly heavier with no better performance gain compared to Core model w/ pp. Having said that Corolla core model with performance package can be had for $38,175. That’s alot better performance per dollar proposition than the CTR. But I would still pick CTR over the GR Corolla due to the fact that CTR is still a better engaging car with arguably better stance, simplistic design in and out, and better ergonomics. Now people would argue both cars sold at above sticker. However based on my experience, GR Corolla can be had for a msrp whereas CTR is impossible to get one at msrp. Lowest I got quoted was 5k over. I have my deposit down for GR Corolla at msrp however within those waiting time, if CTR can be had for a msrp I would take the CTR
The N is a better comparison than a boring Corolla
The Hyundai Elantra N I rather have! The N in the seats light up ! $42,000.00 ! Dealerships will mark these up $3,500- $7,500.00
Unfortunately, alot of people dont care because its a "Hyundai"
yes but a lot of buyers look at pedigree and reliability in a souped up economy car. Elantra N is underrated but it is not surprising it doesnt command as much recognition as type R.
Golf GTI base?
@@BDA0531 Hyundai Won with That car in Weather Tech Racing Series & Continental Racing Series Dual Clutch Transmission! Veloster & Elantra N beating All those Other Sports Cars that cost way more !!! Hyundai Kia Genesis Have people from Other Car Companies! BMW , Audi , Lamborghini, Volkswagen, Porsche! They are improving!!! Toyota & Honda & Mazda & Subaru Don't have to take them Seriously! The Big 3 didn't take The Japanese either look at them Now
Try $5k-$25k
I own a GR Corolla, and I still want to drive this car. I could barely even find one at the Honda dealer. My car is pretty exclusive itself.
Would be interesting to see how it handles lower speed cornering with inclines in 1st gear. Then you would see the magic of the diff
Probably wheel hops 😅
Breaking on the bends? Should’ve slipped off the ravine for adding a turbo to that what use to be a cheap economical. Became another luxury wannabe economic sedan like the Camry and the chargers. Now every car has a turbo. You know how many bed trucks want to pile drive my Impreza. As I remember most people baby a car like a house. To resell it
@@emanuelbabayagaortiz7333 the type r has a very long heritage, not exactly a newcomer here.
@@emanuelbabayagaortiz7333 You do realize Civic Type R is the fastest car on Track not Drag for FF cars. so they knew what they were doing by putting the turbo when in comes for the handling.
@@emanuelbabayagaortiz7333 "Breaking" blah blah calling a Type R a "cheap economical" blah blah dude maybe you should graduate from elementary school before you criticize anything.
i love your reviews sir
Great video 👌
Glad you enjoyed!
No LED lights in the rear, no vents USB ports arm rest and heated seats in the second row. No heated steering wheel, No HUD, No USB C ports in the front, No heated seats in the front, No glass roof, but $ 45k? very stable price
All of the things you've listed would add weight. This is not that kind of car. If you want these things look for a different car or wait for Integra Type S.
@@retrograde11 maybe you have not understand what i mean?
"not for drag racing, its for roads like this one" i feel like i hear this with every new car thats coming out tbh
Nah. Plenty of new cars have launch control systems and/or are well suited to ripping quarter miles
Debating with myself if I should trade in my 21 RDX aspec for one of these.
What a beauty
My dream car
Nice video
The trim around the shifter and mode buttons is actual aluminum, NOT plastic.
Thanks for the note!
It's quite impressive they got over 300 hp and torque from a 4-cylinder
lol please people push more than double that all the time in 30 year old 4 bangers.
@@ApocalypticGaming121 Exactly!! Mitsubishi lancer Evo for example... 4 cylinder engine that ppl push it up to 1000 HP
It’s turbocharged, plus have you seen the k20, k24 engines?
@@Nick_Redhow's reliability? this is still a Honda.
@@Nick_Red We're talking about FWD stock here. Unless on AWD and drag racing, beyond 350-400hp is not useful power in road conditions. The Evo is/was all engine though, was never a daily driver.
The engagement is all well and good until your foot pains, due to constantly changing the Clutch !
How about ST 6mt with CTR 6mt?
🔥🔥
Honda Pro-Hack: I’ve had a metal shift knob like that for almost 2 decades now. Just put a sock over it when it’s hot and remove to drive. No burning hand!
You use that sock for any other purposes? 😅
Maybe an odd comparison but would you get this or a Supra (ZF not MT)?
My dream ❤
Kinda wish they made them in dual clutches
I was honestly thinking about trading in my 2.0 accord for a bmw m340i but it’s something about this new type r that’s making me wanna go for this instwad
You should get the 340i, far more tuning capability, and it’s a bmw.
get the m340i
The FL5 is the only car on sale today that I’d consider trading my MK4.5 (2022) Focus ST in for. My ST has a stage one Mountune map so it puts out 330 BHP/515 nm but they Type R looks a step above for sure.
Plenty other options that are better than your ford
red or white better? please answer
Thats a wonderful car imagine if they made a coupe integra then that engine
The Integra we really wanted the whole time
Re: GRC vs CTR - money no object, I’d go CTR. But I can’t because, while GRC markups are bad, CTR markups are crazy. So I’m going for the GR Corolla, and maybe there will be an excuse in the future to flip to the dark side when I need more space for car seats and strollers 😅
Get the Elantra N it's a better car than the CTR in every way
@@mharro88 DCT? because the manual gearbox leaves a lot to be desired in the elantra N
@@mharro88 I’ll take Japan over Korea!
Hyundai has always been a cheap Honda imitation. The Elantra N is a good car for people who can’t afford to drive something nice.😢😂
What about The Hyundai Elantra N???
Great review! How did it feel compared to the Elantra N? Worth the difference in price?
It's worth it for the design. The performance is actually very similar between the two cars, with the Type R taking a slight edge for transmission precision
@@MilesPerHr Thanks for the reply!
@@MilesPerHr dct in the N is clearly no comparison. It's quicker? The design is boring compared to the N and no comparison in terms of what sounds better. It's 100% not worth the price difference
This is the best first car
Maybe im crazy, but this front interior feels like a Cyberpunk thing.
Can't help but think how good it would be if it was rwd. The amount of power it has going to front wheels means it easily loses traction. Very enjoyable car to drive but would be soooo popular if it was rwd. 😫
Great review. Bit of a strange one, but are the speakers any good? If I were to use as a daily I would hope the sound system is half decent.
if you want a nice sound system go buy a luxury car
@@davidrubin2612 why? It’s not unreasonable to listen to music in a car like this. It’s a great daily so having a half decent sound system would be ideal.
I don't love low-end BOSE sound systems (which the CTR had). Heavy on the base, with low quality low and mids. Clarity is the biggest issue
Harman Kardon Soundsystem ?!
Bose ?! huh
Gen8 sedan typeR is the best ❤
Nice car but the price OMG, I can understand $35k for that car but not $50k.
Dude…this is by far not an economy car. A base civic is an economy car.
Is it front wheel drive?
The 2023 Honda Civic type R is FWD fun, perfected for TH-camrs and the ultra wealthy only! ...I'm now severely depressed 😔...
one day i am going to drive a honda civic
$44,385 without market adjustment
I have had my fk8 for over 4 years now and never once was “embarrassed” to be seen in it. That comment was very misplaced. Looks are subjective….some people loved it and others didn’t. What I can say is till this day I get people giving me thumbs up and snapping pics of my car as they drive by.
I agree its not embarrassing its actually a attention getter
they missed the mark with that much red. i miss the old subtle black with red stitching design.
But 50k for this we can get gr86 or charger for lesser price?
Are airvents under the seat?
No
Thats lots of poetry for a car maybe 5% of the world population can actually afford it.
Too bad this car is getting tarnished by dealerships. $60k+ for a civic is absolutely insane
What's worse is people actually paying over sticker
People are paying it, unfortunately, so it’ll be a while before it slows down. :/
@@mistamaog thats a 2020+ 5k miles widebody 392 charger money. bonkers
60K for a base civic...yeah insane. Not for the rare Type-R however. It's the last all gas Type-R, first time in a long time it's built in Japan again, and there will be less of these produced than the previous 10th gen FK8. The FK8 had mark-ups on it till the end of it's production run, it will be no different with the new FL5.
I've heard that dealers are starting to get MUCH closer to MSRP, with some selling right at MSRP.
Đây là chiếc xe mơ ước của tôi nó rất tuyệt vời !
Do a honda grace
It so freakin aggrevating knowing that I'll never be able to afford this car..
18:30 What do you mean by "embarrassed to be seen in"?
Alot of people don't like the old design and think it's too bold/boy racery. I myself like the uniqueness of it but at the same time much prefer the new look.
DO YOU LIKE THE FK8 HONDA CIVIC TYPE R IN ASPHALT 9?
I wonder how a DCT would suit this car
Perfectly !!
Honda Why u didn't put sunroof :(
Coupe please.
Videos don’t do this car justice. You have to see it in person.
329 HP 420 mm tork
Where is this road? I’m in California I’d love to swing by
I believe it's Angeles Crest Highway. Not too far from LA.
Acura Type S? Same car but better and it can be had for way below MSRP.
Its max speed is 200 mph because it is written on its gauge
The Altima 2.0T gauges also go up to that. So?
I'm guessing OP here was being sarcastic lol
i think gr looks better even if iam not a fan of any ot them
@5:01 that’s what she said.
Yelah. Macam korang je lah hebat.
I want one but i dont have the money
If they made a automatic version it would be quick as a Volkswagen golf r
These cars aren’t about straight-line speed, and the difference in shift speed would be negligible for the overwhelming majority of use cases. Tenths of a seconds matter IF you track your car often, maybe. Otherwise, manual is superior for this car, hands down.
As above, this car is not about 0-60, totally missing the point
As I said in the video, acceleration isn't really the main focus here. The dynamics are polished to perfection.
No, an automatic Type R would not be as quick as a Golf R because the Golf R has all-wheel drive my friend, not even close.
Plus the Golf R engines respond so well to tuning, you can easily make them over 400 horsepower and it will destroy the Civic Type R and gr Corolla.
@@dougmaverick3287 yeah, the Golf is good for all weather driving and straight line heroes. The Civic is much more of a drivers car.
The sound system is BOSE, not Harmon Kardon.
Good thing too.. my STI has the optional Harman Kardon system and it's disappointing
@@nthgth the Bose system is a big improvement over previous 10th gen's "premium" system. But if you're really into audio, custom is always the way to go. Just not sure I'd wanna add all the extra weight dynomating the entire car...and losing the trunk space to mounting all the amps, sub(s), and cap(s). I guess if you wanted you could do a minimalist install, and hide most of the stuff.
This is the first Type R I've ever liked. Sucks that there's still no AWD option though.
And it will never be.
This is one of those rare occasions where Honda has refined the FWD dynamics so much that I don't think AWD would improve this car's performance. It's like Porsche moving the 911's engine to the middle (with the same wheelbase, not a 718 Cayman's). They've refined the rear engine dynamics so well, it would be like starting from scratch
@@MilesPerHr I was impressed by the launch, the old one's was atrocious.
Or better yet RWD.
@@retrograde11 yeah, that’ll DEFINITELY not happen😂 That’s when you go Golf R.
The Acura Integra R will be out Next summer as a 2024 Model expect that be near $60,000.00 might as well buy a Luxury car
It's a type s and it'll be like 50k
tlx type is 60k doubt the integra would be more
@@drhassan6892 No Thanks
