I love it in smoothies every morning with moringa powder the other super food with beet powder and a banana. I even make chaya burgers. But for a dinner side is a good stir-fry with onions. I also use the chaya water for my morning coffee and in my smoothies. Great Stuff!
Do you have any problem with deer eating this plant? I live in zone 8B outside of Natchez Mississippi and this is something I would really love to grow. Thank you ever so much. Stay green
I haven't noticed anything eating the chaya, actually. It's poison raw - so it's possible it's a one-time only mistake, or there's a smell or something that keep animals away. I've never smelled anything, but who knows! We have several of these trees, and have never seen the deer come after them - and there are plainly visible from the house. The will demolish my garden tease the dogs, but that's about it :)
Kinda, it's just a bunch of sticks. We actually got some cold nights in central FL this winter, so it died back - but it's already regrowing from the base. This summer I'll have leaves galore again!
@pegagonza3784 hmmmmm. I wonder if there are different varieties or it's mis-named here. Some of my cuttings came from a nursery, and I've seen it at several - I'm confident it's chaya. But that doesn't mean it's the only plant using that name globally. That's not the scientific name.
Simple, obvious question that no one else seemed to: the taste. Nice video. Thanks.
Tastes like a leafy green, lol. Very similar to normal cooked spinach except the texture if you don't cut the "spine" off the leaves

Nice! I hadn't thought about reusing the water, what a great idea!

You can get from Thuru from Boralesgamuwa sri Lanka
Did you remove the leaves from the stems?
I usually cut the stems off, personally
Oh no… it loses its leaves in the winter, even in Florida? Is it ugly?

Where can I get a spinach tree plant?
Hmmm, where abouts are you located? I know of a place in FL, but it's not a common commercial plant
@@homestead4life18 I'm located in the midwest. Is it possible to get it from you?
@@mayhlilee746 I would first check if they grow there, and if so, we can work something out I'm sure.
@@homestead4life18 Thanks for trying to help and I checked and it will not grow well in the mid-states as the summers are short.
From Sri lanka Thuru sri lsnka
