We started with 6 cuttings of Chaya and today we have over a 100 growing on our farm. This is really good information, we have to now figure out how to do this at scale! Bigger pots for cooking chaya in bulk and bigger dehydrator would be the way forward I am guessing. I wish there was more information about the plant. A lot of information would be in Spanish but I don't fully understand the language to be able to access and understand all of it!I guess we will have to go by our own experience of trial and error to find and fine tune our process! Thank you so much for sharing this simple experience with the world!

Love all the great information you provide!!! You are living the dream, blessings.
After I boil my Chaya I put it through the salad spinner to remove excess water. Then I stack the leaves and make bunches which I flash freeze prior to storing in the freezer. When I make soups or if I want to use in a stew or recipe I take what I need out of the freezer. Chaya holds up to cooking so it can be made much like collard greens.

If you would like more flavor in chaya power (or eggs, potatoes, etc) try steaming them instead of boiling them to cook them. This retains a lot more flavor of the food. I have now heard conflicting things about boiling extracting some nutrients from whatever is being cooked that way. My thought is if the flavor is greater by steaming then boiling then something must be being removed from the food when boiled.

I got 4 or 5 cuttings started in containers. I'll plant them when they are ready. I have heard they help remove cysts. I hope they do. I'm in zone 10 some are doing great some have shriveled leaves with white stuff on the inside of the leaf wrinkles? The little black ants are all over some but they are on okra and peppers, pretty much everything else I have.

I read and heard that you can drink/use that water that you drained off as it's full of calcium and still safe from toxins. I planted a 100ft living hedge from branches from my only tree after Hurricane Irma snapped it at the base. A new tree ended up growing from the base again too. Hoping to be able to make lots of powder in the future 😂. Great vid tho.

I bought one off amazon thinking that where I live is subtropical environment but apparently southeast Georgia is not quite warm enough. However my Chaya tree did great living in my kitchen it’s taller than me now. I’m thinking about taking a couple of cuttings after watching this guy on one of his other videos show me how easy it is to turn one plant into many and my plant has gotten very top-heavy now like his did on that video. But you should be able to grow Chaya indoors with no problem it’s a very hearty plant. There have been several times I thought mine was going to die but each time it came back. They are very forgiving too.... they don’t like a lot of water. Which is perfect for a musician who lives alone like me. I tend to water it just whenever I happen to think about it which isn’t very often. I have occasionally given it some miracle grow but that’s it.

Noooooooo!!!! Don’t cook them!!! You’ve been misinformed!! The people of Yucatán, where that plant comes from, consume it raw. I am from there my entire family is from the Yucatán peninsula. If you go to any restaurant and ask for a chaya a drink, which is a staple of any restaurant in the Yucatán peninsula, those drinks are done with raw Chaya. My entire life I have consumed it raw. when I blend it I add lemon and a little bit a honey to make a refreshing drink. Please don’t cook it. I have seen so many videos saying that it is poisonous but it is not. They just don’t want people cured the natural way and by cooking it you are killing everything that will cure you of diseases and prevent cancer. I can send you videos on TH-cam of restaurant owners and even doctors in Yucatan showing you how to make the drink and it is raw. My mom cured her diabetes by blending 5 Chaya leaves every morning [raw] and drinking it. And the correct pronunciation is ch like in choo-choo 🙂 thanks for your video!!
