You really nailed it without really knowing the context. The original song is about a man in prison. The Peace Prize laureate is a woman in prison in Iran. Her children who are twins the same age as Angelina were just interviewed by the woman who conducted the interview. Angelina selected this song and her emotions are real. At the end of her performance she looks off camera to the children and puts her hand over her heart. Go back and watch your own reaction to see how spot on you were. Her approach was as if mom was singing to her children from prison. Subdued. Emotional and overwhelmed with longing for her loved ones.
Great comment. I was going to write something similar but you nailed it. Angelina always goes to a special place, but this time, it seemed like she was in prison letting the twins know how much they are loved and how much their love means to their mother. Angelina, like Frank Sinatra, does not let her singing get in the way of the story.
I was also going to make a similar comment. Angelina did an interview a few year ago in which she described how she is transported when she sings, to another, wonderful place. It is a key to her performances. On some of her stage performances she is not so invested, but in the norm it is one of her trademarks, and one of those qualities that I believes causes her to resonate with so many avid listeners.
She’s not acting either bud! She’s singing to the twin children in the audience of Narges Mohammadi, this years Nobel Peace Prize Award winner in prisoned in Iran some 9 years ago for advocating Human Rights in Iran. She chose the perfect song to sing to Narges children and delivered the emotion as only Angelina Jordan can. Gentle, warm and soft..perfect. That face you focussed on reminds me The King. Congratulations. What a fantastic reaction.
Totally agree with you Kevin. This song, combined with its original focus and purpose (the movie “Unchained” is about a prisoner longing to be reunited with his wife and family) is so fitting and apropos of the Nobel Peace prize recipient’s present, difficult situation. 😢 Brandon… you have focused on something I noticed right off the bat (and I’ve continued to notice upon subsequent viewings)… it’s that steely, strong determination in Angelina’s delivery. You did a wonderful job of putting words to what I have long noticed in Angelina’s performance. Well done! As to the *“Elvis”* connection… Angelina sung this live at her recent concert in Portsmouth NH and she shared with the audience that she was “channeling”* Elvis more than the Righteous Brothers. Angelina admitted that she has long been inspired by Elvis and she had the good fortune of meeting Priscilla and befriending her this past year. * my characterization, not Angelina’s

As a fan of storytelling in all its forms, I'm particularly keen on dissecting how Angelina conveys the story within the song through her vocal expression and presence. This reaction is not just about the music; it's about the art of performance and how Angelina Jordan brings her unique flair to a well-loved classic.
I think that Angelina's dress symbolizes a white dove of peace. Tastefully elegant that suits the occasion perfectly. I have thought several times that she looks like Elvis. Could be his grand daughter 🙂
This performance, for many reasons, was very special to Angelina. Yes, she could have wowed us with power and belting, but she chose to handle it with care and tenderness. We can hear and feel the sadness and longing in her voice, crying out for the release of Narges and for her return to her family. The Nobel committee made the right decision in choosing Angelina for this occasion.
This reaction is the best one I've watched of yours. You pointed out things I've never noticed. I think history will look back on this Angelina performance as one her best ever under the age of 18. This tribute to Narges Mohammadi, an Iranian human rights activist and mother received the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize. She's being held in jail for her stand on women's rights. Her 2 twin children, also age 17, were present and participated in the tribute of their mother. The understated, classy, elegant approach with emotional and heartfelt vocals, really pulls at my emotions. Angelina is as good at telling stories as she is at singing. You feel this. She sings like a butterfly fluttering before soaring off to the heavens. 🍁
Your theatrical perspective reaction is unique among nearly all reactors to songs. It's interesting the things that you notice and comment upon that most others completely miss or gloss over. I think that you highlight a lot of the small details that make Angelina's performances convey so much emotion and connection to the words and the audience.
Great reaction. I can't affirm the analysis (not qualified), but it seemed plausible and insightful enough to me. And as others will surely point out, there is more of a story behind this song than most are aware of. This also accounts for her subtle, respectful presentation of the song. The orchestra, from beginning to end, was also very much integral to the quality of her performance.
That facial expression is comparable to one you can see often when you watch Elvis sing. You complimented this magnificent performance with a sensational critique of everything going on. Thank you. Many others will tell you about the circumstances involved in the Nobel Peace Prize Award Ceremony and there is no question Angelina was singing this directly to the recipient of the award and her family (twins, a boy and a girl and her husband). That moment near the end I felt the cry in her voice and with Angelina everything is genuine. Not only does she feel the song and it's message of love but she brings us along with her into her world. We don't see it but we feel it and it's a beautiful place.
A beautiful reaction to a very beautiful young lady expressing her love through the majesty of this song in tribute to Narges Mohammad, now in an Iranian prison, and her children, also her age, who were there for the ceremony, and with whom she had met earlier. I will never tire of listening to her performance here.
Not even Bobby Hadfield's 'Gold Standard' rendition permeates my inner being to the level she achieves here. It is the most emotion laden, penetrating version of the song I have ever experienced. It's a fitting tribute to a woman who is languishing in an Iranian prison for simply trying to advance women's rights.
Wonderful reaction to a sensitive, deeply felt performance by Angelina at a remarkable event honoring the imprisoned Iranian activist for women's rights. I'm sure Angelina took the trouble to fly all the way to Sweden for this because of the nature of the event and this important cause. Being part Iranian, I'm sure she well knows its importance and put deep feeling into the song for both the momentous event and the heartbreaking situation of Narges Mohammedi, still in jail, still longing to come home to her loved ones. Angelina is indeed a queen, a queen of the heart.
I have loved everything Angelina has done over the years and have watched her grow, this is as if she has jumped 20 years in maturity, my favourite live performance in many many years. Great reaction.

Beautiful reaction, thank you. The ability this girl has to move those who listen to her is absolutely incredible. This interpretation of her is fascinating and wonderfully intimate, it made this legendary song perfectly suited for the occasion of the tribute to Narges Mohammadi! I was moved to see and hear Angelina singing in such an incredibly mature and charming way 7 years after the last time and in the same studio and certainly also with some of the musicians who accompanied her as a child, when she took her first steps towards his musical future. Here Angelina was simply fantastic and "unchained", a singer who has already sung on 2 different occasions at the Nobel Prizes and at only 17 years old.💛🧡❤
This was a fantastic reaction and analysis! Thank you! For the four years I have followed Angelina’s life and performances, I have thought of her the exact way you described her - the female Elvis of this generation! The looks, the talent, the multi-ranged voice and vocal power, the charisma, the stage presence and confidence - the whole package is all there!
Yes! She gets the "Dang, she could be Elvis's daughter" all the dang time. She has had the Elvis lip curl when she sings since she was little, hair, complexion, even the shape of her face.... Oh and most importantly, when she sings people feel it. ;)
Okay, I've seen, literally, this insane performance over a 100 times thru an equal number of reactors and with your reference of Angelina approaching some music like Elvis, VIOLA! I thought I was the only one one the planet that caught the lip curl! Nuff said, great reaction!
Hi Brandon! I'm always excited for your Angelina Jordan reactions because of your background in theatrical and acting performance. I love the subtleties you pull from this performance. I agree with you that she's rarely sounded so much like Elvis; only a few other covers come to mind. I hope you keep your eyes on Angelina's career and look forward to your next analysis!
I was around when this song first came out, and I have always thought it is the most beautiful song ever. And I still love the original version by the Righteous Brothers the most. And, yes, I still cry every time I hear it. Angelina sang it beautifully, and I loved the change she made in that gentle transition spot. Goosebumps at the end.
Totally agree... That expression on her face you mentioned.. on that very moment she's living the pain and the wanting of what the song is. The last run and most of the song are not about the vocals but the emotions she's living while story telling the song.
Que gran reacción maestro, que gran forma de aprender contigo la dinámica de una interpretación y poder comprender y entender la magia de nuestra Princesa Angelina. Muchas gracias
Once again, like the last fifty times I have watched this, I am brought to tears. She honestly felt what she was singing. It is so beautiful and heart-felt. ❤
Thank you for a wonderful reaction! This is the best version I’ve ever heard! So soulful and emotional, so right for this cause. That voice!!!!!!!🙏👌💎💫❤️
Exactly, the solemness of this event was brought out more by her delicate treatment of this song, changing it from a romantic love song to a universal love song fitting of the sincerity and significance of this tribute ceremony.

On that close up of her face I swear I saw a upper lip curl that reminds me so much of Elvis. I think Angelina is the "Second coming of Elvis" Once she gets a hit record, and becomes well known she will become as admired, and loved as Elvis. And she will do it wearing classy gowns, not jumping all around wearing skimpy costumes. Of course she also looks great in black leather also.
Really enjoyed your reaction by someone who understand how much emotion Angelina sings with, her empathy for people is manifested in her music.the beauty of her low registry is like chocolate syrup on vanilla ice cream
Wonderful reaction to the Queen of Music....enjoyed this very much. Interesting that you picked up on the Elvis "lip curl" at the end....many fans have also noticed this in more than one song. Cheers. 🥰🥰
This is at least the 4th time that Angelina has performed this song. At age 9 on a TV interview show, at 11? In a home made video, last September at her concert in Portsmouth New Hampshire and now at this Nobel Peace Prize tribute concert. FYI, although the Righteous Brothers cover is the most well known version, the song was already 10 years old when they recorded it. The song first appeared in the 1955 prison film Unchained. Angelina’s Iranian heritage and the fact that the song is about a prisoner longing for his love makes her performance of this song very appropriate given the fact that the Peace Prize recipient is a woman imprisoned in Iran for being an activist for women’s rights.
I LOVE her choices here! Angelina takes the role of Narges, expressing her love and longing for the two children before her. She and the two chidren are all 17 years old. On top of that, she is doing this on a live global broadcast. I'm in loss for words.
Angelina’s grandmother is an Iranian poet and painting prodigy. This is special in Angelina’s heart. When she was young Angelina sang for the Nobel Peace prize ceremony.
I grew up with Elvis from the early 50s on, and he never held a candle to this being called Angelina Jordan. In my 76 years of experiencing the best the music industry has to offer, no one has even come close to her.
You commented about her being a female Elvis well I've heard several reactors say the same thing.if you have not heard her rendition of " How Great Thou Art " at 12 yrs old in the same key as Elvis then you haven't heard her lower register...
Essa garota desde os 10 anos de idade já era uma das melhores cantoras da atualidade... Impressionante o poder que ela tem em transformar as músicas que canta em verdadeiras obras primas!! Angelina Jordan is the best...
She can sing in the manner of any vocalist. Angelina has always created her own version. When she was young her band called her “The Boss.” She told them what she wanted. She had the same requirement of Republic. She did not want someone else telling her what to do. If you think of her as sweet and timid you haven’t heard “Put a Spell on You.” Another, “It’s a Man’s World.”
This is probably my favorite of your Angelina reactions. You mentioned that you sometimes get some mixed feelings from the Angels. Well we are sort of protective of our princess but after seeing her in this video maybe Queen should be the descriptive henceforth. When I saw this video for the first time, after I dried the tears and could think again, the thought that immediately came to me was Howie Mandel's this song this performance is going to change your life and career quote. This performance was the epitome of anything from Angelina so far. I was at Portsmouth and saw her do this live. That night that performance will live with me until I die. It was that beautiful but this should go down in musical history. I enjoy all of your Angelina reactions. Even the couple that some felt were not gushing approval.
The song is from a 50's movie about a prisoner in jail, later covered by the Righteous Brothers and then later again by Elvis (one of his last recorded performances before he passed) . As for the presentation, aside from the fact that Angelina has long ago got past the need to show off and belt things, the subtle performance is entirely fitting for the Noble Peace Prize.
I believe she kept it subtle due to the somberness of the occasion. Belting would have focused more on her than the occasion. Humble genius. She is just always so respectful.
I take it you have not reacted to her singing HOW GREAT THOU ART as a preteen in the same key as Elvis. She has always had a beautiful lower range. We are not lucky enough to hear her beautiful falsetto often. Let alone her range in one song. Thats because she always serves the music and emotion not her ego. No over played runs or unnecessary belting only what is needed to convey the emotion. Lucky for us this song needed it.
A little history on the song itself. It was originally written in 1955 by Alex North and Hy Zaret and was first sung in a prison film movie “Unchanged” in the same year. The Righteous Brothers, namely Bobby Hatfield, brought it to new heights in 1965. The song has been sung by 100’s of people throughout the years. It was popularized again in the 1990 movie “Ghost”, again sung by Bobby Hatfield. You can listen to it from the Andy Williams show with Bobby singing. I love how it continually gets a new life every so often. I was a Teenager in 1965 and that version is my favorite.
The twin son and daughter of Narges Mohammadi are seventeen,(the same age as Angelina) years old and in the audience. Angelina said that this was a very emotional experience for her. Performing for the Nobel Peace Prize event has been a life long dream of Angelina’s. She did perform for the Nobel children’s event when she was seven years old. That makes her the only performer to be invited twice to perform for a Nobel Peace Prize event.
Thank you so much for an absolutely excellent reaction to this masterpiece. Because that's what this really is. A great precursor for what is about to come from her in the future I think. I wish you and yours a Happy New Year 🙂 Much love and respect from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥

Its kinda creepy if you go there, but she does the Elvis lip curl too. She has this connection to him I havent really looked into extensively. Thanks for the reaction 👍
I enjoyed your analysis of this highly respectful and emotional performance by Angelina Jordan. Angelina let us know she modeled her version of "Unchained Melody" after the version by Elvis Presley, so you were right on point. I am very surprised you didn't do some research on the background for this performance, as it was a tribute to the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, Narges Mohammadi. I believe the connection the artist has for a given performance would have a huge impact. Here is the background. I thought "Unchained Melody" was a odd choice for this event, but have since learned the history of the song. More on that later. Certainly Angelina was thrilled to be performing back in her home country of Norway, where she is a national treasure, but this performance goes way beyond that honor. She first performed at the Save the Children event at the 2014 Peace Prize event, when she was 8 years old. Narges Mohammadi was this years' recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Narges, is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two children spoke on her behalf at this event. Most of the performers were Iranian. We know Angelina's grandmother, Mery Zamani, grew up in Iran and was a prodigy for painting and poetry. We can imagine the conversations Mery had with Angelina about Narges. This performance had to be extremely meaningful to Angelina and her family. I hope all the angels will spread the story of Narges and her mission, with the hope for change. In 1954, Alex North was contracted to compose the score for the prison film Unchained (released in 1955). North had a melody he had written in the 1930s and composed and recorded the score when he was asked to write a song based upon the movie's theme. North asked Hy Zaret to write the lyrics. After first refusing, Zaret and North together wrote "Unchained Melody. Zaret refused the producer's request to include the word "unchained" in his lyrics. The song eventually became known as the "Unchained Melody" even though the song does not actually include the word "unchained". Instead, Zaret chose to focus on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time". "Unchained Melody" comes from the film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or completing his sentence and returning to his wife and family. So indeed this song fits along with Narges being in prison and her two children, and the rest of the people who embrace freedom, calling for her release.
You really nailed it without really knowing the context. The original song is about a man in prison. The Peace Prize laureate is a woman in prison in Iran. Her children who are twins the same age as Angelina were just interviewed by the woman who conducted the interview. Angelina selected this song and her emotions are real.
You all know that when Angelina closes her eyes she is going to her special place and we know we will be stunned by her performance.

The most impressive reaction to Angelina I've seen in a very long time❤.
The gown and the sparkling headband creat the image of an angel. The performance is absolutely stunning and that final note carries to heaven.
Thanks. ❤❤❤
You're welcome 😊
Hey our friend.!!!! Ms. Angelina Jordan's Happy "18th" Birthday is on Wednesday - January 10th, 2024... Wish her a Best Wishes on this special time in her life.!!! Thank UUU - DD. Take Care... @@tnae
I’m pleased to see your terrific reaction. Great insight. Thank you!
Really enjoyed your reaction by someone who understand how much emotion Angelina sings with, her empathy for people is manifested in her music.the beauty of her low registry is like chocolate syrup on vanilla ice cream
######We have to share her with the world
Angelina Jordan is a rare talent who has captivated us from the start. Her voice is heavenly, her style is unique, and her soul is pure. We are proud to be her angels, who have supported her journey and witnessed her growth. Now, as she spreads her wings and reaches new heights, we have to share her with the world. It is hard to let go of even a small part of her, but we know she deserves all the love and recognition she can get. She is our ANGEL, and we will always be there for her. .© Larry D. Pifer
That expression you froze .. made me think of Elvis' lip curl
The Queen of song on stage !!!
I've said this for some time now, she is a young female Elvis! This coming from a huge Elvis fan. Thank you! Oh and happy 18th Angelina
Wonderful reaction to the Queen of Music....enjoyed this very much. Interesting that you picked up on the Elvis "lip curl" at the end....many fans have also noticed this in more than one song. Cheers. 🥰🥰
Wonderful reaction and some really great observations!
She even had a tiktok of her pointing, jokingly to an article saying she is the long lost grand daughter of Elvis!!!
I love how emotional you got in the beginning 🥰
Thank you.
She is my favorite singer now. I have her up there with Janice Joplin.
You commented about her being a female Elvis well I've heard several reactors say the same thing.if you have not heard her rendition of " How Great Thou Art " at 12 yrs old in the same key as Elvis then you haven't heard her lower register...
Spot on .
Love your reaction to this🤩 For me it is like the mother(Narges M) is singing to her children she hasn't seen for 9 years.AJ is fantastic ❤️
"Appricate [ Love ] the people that make you smile in life.!!!" - Ms. Angelina "The Emerald Jazz Pearl" Jordan Thank U - Mr. That's Not Acting Either"
Great reaction !
good call actually angelina said she was channeling elvis for this performance....
Essa garota desde os 10 anos de idade já era uma das melhores cantoras da atualidade...
Impressionante o poder que ela tem em transformar as músicas que canta em verdadeiras obras primas!!
Angelina Jordan is the best...
excellent reaction! the context ...
I am so glad that you saw the same thing!!
IMO, her lips remind me of Elvis famous lip curl. She has done this lip curl since she was six or eight.
Yeah. Nice reaction bro. 👍
Greg Fields, drummer, producer, and multiple Grammy winner.
Greg Fields, a nine-time Grammy winner, son-in-law of the legendary composer Henry Mancini, and former drummer for Frank Sinatra, shared his insights on Angelina Jordan's Christmas Concert on Dec 23, 2023, he and several other major musicians accompanied AJ. He recalled that Sinatra once told him that the key to singing was not to let it interfere with the storytelling. He praised Jordan for having the same quality in her performances, saying that she captivated the audience with her expressive voice and emotional delivery. © Larry D. Pifer
That jeweled hairpiece was worn by Clementine Churchill.
Not short of breath? 😉

Cheers from Australia 🦘🇦🇺. Great Reaction, you’ve sometimes been given I think unnecessary grief for expressing YOUR opinion of Your reaction to Angelina, that’s sad. You got it this time. I’ve often said if you want to FEEL a song I think you’ve only got to listen to Angelina’s take on a song .
I agree, I see a young female Elvis in her voice and looks.
Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize 2023^^^^^^^
This video is a masterpiece that I have watched more than 75 times. Every time I hear the KORK Orchestra begin playing, I feel a surge of emotion because I know what is coming next: the most amazing rendition of Unchained Melody by the incomparable Angelina Jordan. She has a voice of an angel and a talent beyond words.
Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize 2023 Some ask why Angelina Jordan would pick Unchained Melody for this event, Narges Mohammadi, the Iranian human rights activist who received the prestigious award remains in Iran. One of the most popular and enduring love songs of all time, Unchained Melody, has a surprising origin. It was composed for a 1955 film called Unchained, which tells the story of a man who is incarcerated for a crime he did not commit. He yearns to be free and reunite with his wife and children, who are waiting for him outside. The song captures his emotions of loneliness, hope and longing, and has been covered by many artists over the years, but none in my lifetime of 76 years have conveyed such emotion as Angelina Jordan did at this performance. © Larry D. Her beautiful gown reminds me of an image of a pink peace lily on the web! Coincidence? Probably not!
Yes i agree
Actually Angelina made the arrangement of the song for the orchestra 😍
ANGELINA JORDAN ASTAR turns 18 today (January 10, 2006) A very happy birthday to you!)))))))
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I agree Brad, That double upper lip raise was kinda like Elvis did in his performances sometimes ? Like determination growl look. She's amazing. Great reaction Brad.
👍🏼🎼🤗💞
Performance once in MGM and once in Eastgate and Las Vegas two of them also she signed Republic records. Did you know that so she is 14 and she got new albums out love Donna and now I’m the fool you’ll find them and she went to Northport Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, a massive concert there she been running around the world singing she’s changed that you sing 8:47
Side note TODAY ANGELINA IS 18 ,HAPPY BIRTHDAY
❤❤❤
Hey, a name I recognize ;)
