To let you know how perfect she was for Supergirl, she was the first girl to audition and just seeing her, they already made up their mind; she’s the one!
Never understood how that film never became an 80s icon like other rebellious films of that period. It has all the hallmarks of a well-known 80s film yet fell into obscurity...
Helen should Re-Boot...call it...SuperWoman! No, seriously, SuperWoman and the Return to Kandor Yes a 60 year old wise sage who via a Ship from Earth returns to the shrunken city of Kandor held captive by Braniac , of course she has No Super powers ( only on Earth) so she uses the Braniac to restore Kandor to an Alternative Planet i.e. Mars and becomes Terraformed .because of Space/ Time/ Alien Tech knowlogy All inhabitants are Super human.in Earth prospective. But they are all equal on Mars, so in essence they have No"Superpowers"
I remember her mostly as love interest for young Patrick Dempsey in "Happy Together" 80's romantic flick...loved that film and they were both young and full of youthful energy at the time and Patrcik wasn't dickhead at the time, that he became later on...
It just boggles my mind why anyone would go the “Madonna” route and inject and implant all kinds of chemicals in order to stay young, when you can still look great being older.
Some people like Madonna don’t age well naturally. Madonna’s physically exhausting life and touring didn’t help, but looking at her younger sisters - Madonna had to.
@@garethjd78 I guess, but it’s not like she’s turning into an ogre. What’s is she gonna get? Wrinkles, some sagging skin, gray or white hair, crows feet? And I get getting some work done, but the best ones are the ones you can’t tell. She obviously overdid it.
I don't mean to sound like dick, but she aged a whole lot lmao...especially in the last 5 or 6 years...the last time she appeared as cameo in Supergirl episode she still looked okay, but since then she was starting aging rapidly, so no she doesn't look you g at all...if anything she looks just loke her age, just like you would expect 60 years old person to look like actually, maybe only slightly younger...

The script was rewritten several times. They'd originally planned to use Superman 3 as a " launchpad " for Supergirl & instead used it for Richard Pryor's character.
@DanielAppleton-lr9eq Interesting. I wish Supergirl could go as far as The Superman films with Christopher Reeve. Why should he have all the fun? Helen looks like she could still do it today. Anyway, Richard Pryor did good too. RIP😭.
@@noahpartic7586 I'm just glad that they didn't have her as part of Superman 3 like they planned to. I heard that they were going to have a FUBAR storyline for it that would make the Gus Gorman / Richard Pryor storyline seem like Shakespeare.
When I was young I had a list of "top 5 most beautiful women of the 80s"- since then some have popped in and out of the list but she and Mia Sara have always been "permanent members" and are both still stunning to this day.
Helen's Supergirl is the closest to age appropriate Supergirl they've had so far. I never got into the show and one of the main reasons is that I couldnt wrap my mind around a mid-20, almost 30 something woman still calling herself "Supergirl".
Helen Slater Portrayed Supergirl from 1984 Flim Before Melendy Britt voiced She-Ra in the Secret of the Sword (1985),Terri Hawkes and Stephanie Sheh Voiced Sailor Moon in the anime movies and Tara Strong Voiced Bubbles in The Powerpuff Girls Movie (2002),with Red Boots,Blonde Hair,Red Cape,Blue Clothes,Heat and X-Ray Vision
Helen is, and will always be the woman who changed my life in the sense that even today Supergirl is my fave comic book character, I love blondes and would love to meet her in one Comic Con. I would die happy there!
Supergirl gets a lot of heat, but it was a genuinely good and entertaining film. People shit on it becasue the scale was much smaller and more intimate than the Reeve films, but I felt that made it very unique and fitting for the "innocent girl in a strange place" vibe they were going for. Also, the musical score and production design were incredible, plus this movie EASILY has the best flying scenes in all of the "Super" franchise. Sad we never got a Reeve/Slater team up movie, but that shouldn't take away anything from the Supergirl film.
I agree, I love the movie so much. I would have loved to see her and reeves team up, I wish they done that :( instead of just showing the poster in her movie.
I adored "Supergirl". Also, she was fantastic in " The Secret of My Success". "Who are YOU calling a bimbo?!?" Wonderful...for as soft-spoken as she seems, comedy seems to come naturally too.
I came here because I watched her in the movie "12:01" which has remained within my top 10 favorite movies of all times. I developed a crush on her as Lisa Fredericks. I'll have to check out her other movies when I can.
This movie and Helen will always be close to my childhood and heart. The scene in The Phantom Zone with Peter O'Toole always fascinated me when I was young. (I was born the same year the movie was released.) 😊
The first Caucasian woman I fell in love with, you will always be my super girl and Billie Jean. She has been immortalized by the movies, in retrospect I now know that it wasn’t just her youth & beauty but also her kind demeanor and personality. At 60 she still looks beautiful and speaks softly. Thanks for all the wonderful memories Helen 🙏🏿❤️
Helen Slater was my Supergirl until Laura Diane Vandervoort hits Smallville. It was Helen´s first movie ever. Thanks to Lynn Stalmaster i know her. I had a crusch on Helen and collest many movie´s with her. Helen also aged superfine like fiune vine. Ilove Helen the same as Laura. Also she is super nice and a good human being. I have a hope that Laura carries the torch forward! Because they both are the best ever !

Tracy Eddon...!! I know Tracy Eddon! (Her Work, I mean -- ) She was also, a few years later, Sophie Aldred's stunt double, used to be the BEST Stuntwoman workin' in The Business back in her prime --
Did she get her dates wrong? According to Wikipedia her 19th birthday was december 82, around six months before filming started and 18months before the premiere
The Salkines messed this movie up, they did Reeves dirty with Superman 3 so he didn’t want to be part of supergirl and the script had him in it. Then they edited the movie that it ended up incoherent. There was multiple versions of the movie.
Happy Birthday Helen! All the Best! You are the most under appreciated actress of our generations!
She has such a calm and pleasing voice and attitude.
To let you know how perfect she was for Supergirl, she was the first girl to audition and just seeing her, they already made up their mind; she’s the one!

She will always be Billie Jean to me. I must have seen that movie 50 times.

Just finished watching it on TH-cam and ended up here😂.
aww and her brother Christian played her brother
Such a gorgeous woman! And what a lovely, soothing voice! 🥰
She's amazing, there's something special about her, it's a crime she only got one outing as Kara.
Two. She did motion capture for her brief appearance in The Flash movie.
She's sooooo pretty even all these years later. Doesn't look like she aged much. :)
