INXS were considered new wave in the same category as U2. They were great and the singer passed away decades ago in a hotel room His name was Michael Hutchins.
The days when I would see bands like INXS, Cold Chisel, The Angels, Dragon etc at the pubs and clubs. We truly didn’t appreciate how blessed we were. Australia had it all.
Right there with you my friend. I saw so many top class bands at my local pub in Melbourne. Could you imagine if Pegasus saw Chisel doing Bow River live? With Jimmy screaming and Ian shredding and the harmonica weaving all through it? Damn I miss those days.....
@@skwervin1 yep I’m there too, don’t think it ever leaves you. Lots of great local bands that never made mainstream. The competition was tough back then. As a live audience we all benefited from that. Lucky times, the best of times.
in the 70's 2SM used to have free concerts in Victoria park near Sydney uni. WOW saw dragon, hush, sherbet, air supply. then saw all the greats in pubs and clubs, even worked in clubs when live bands played. it was awesome. aussie music was the best!!!
And I’m the 3rd to say the exact same! 😂 I even still have the INXS KICK: The Video Flick on VHS, containing all the music videos from that album and behind the scenes clips!
i’ve found INXS albums in friends places all over the place, Germany they were huge, playing 80,000 stadiums, Brazil including 140,000 at a festival in Rio, France…
I was in a rock cover band in the early 80s and we were the support act for INXS wren they came to our rural university campus. I will never forget meeting them in the green room after they played. They were awesome!
Just joined your channel and subbed after seeing your Midnight Oil Reaction. I worked with INXS I was a part of the Management team, Michael wrote this about the bond that is strong between 2 people, at the time he was dating Helena Christensen. This song was played as the the remaining members of the band carried Michael's coffin from the Church. Made me cry seeing your reaction. Many thanks for bringing back incredible memories
You sir, have discovered one, if not the finest, most internationally successful Australian bands of all time. I was a young woman at the time of their rising and peak. Their music is intrigal to my youth and there is not one single song they've released that doesn't rock. I hope you dive deeply into their work. You so won't regret it. Enjoy 😉 🇦🇺
Fire. 🔥 More? Yes please. Gosh they have soooo many great songs. Big sounds, love the instrumentation. He was so charismatic and my gosh what a voice. 😍😍😍
INXS was one of the Biggest Australian rock bands ever. Check out their live in Wembley show its on youtube start to finish. Not just one of their best shows, One of the best Live rock performances ever recorded. My old man tells a story about being at the Star Hotel in Newcastle in the late 70s seeing Midnight Oil - another Aussie rock band worth checking out, and their lead singer comes out on stage early in the night by himself. The crowd blow up thinking they are cancelling their show but he says Sorry i know we usually have a local band support us but we found these guys down in sydney and thought you would like them. Out comes a 17YO Michael Hutchence and procedes to blow everyone away
This brought back memories. The Star Hotel was in Newcastle NSW and when they closed it down there was a riot in Hunter Street that shut the town down. Cheers to your Dad mate, I was there too. I 1st saw INXS in a small pub in Cessnock, LoL.
I miss Michael Hutchence and INXS (in-excess). The voice, the passion, the presence, the hits! INXS are one of the greatest bands to come out of Oz and I was so fortunate to have grown up listening to their hits 🎶
At one stage INXS was the biggest band in the world and Michael Hutchence was like the Mick Jagger of his time. You should watch their live concert at Wembley stadium in the London in was insane.
INXS "NEED YOU TONIGHT- MEDIATE" (combo video of BOTH of these songs back to back is a MUST. Don't do the one without Mediate combined. It's truly meant to be listened to one phasing into the other). It's sooo good!!! 🔥🔥🔥
I first saw inxs live at the jump club in Melbourne neither of us were old enough to be in a pub lol I think they were about 17 and I was about 16. I still remember that gig so clearly… ahh the Aussie pub band scene .. pure musical magic!!! I never get sick of hearing their music ❤
Personally, I love the fact that you go into songs like this completely blind. That way you're not tainted by any expectations or misconceptions because of something you might have read. Plus the fact that you then go back and look up details about the song/group when you like what you hear. That's what I want from a reaction, for what it's worth. Great job! Definitely more INXS ... "New Sensation" would be great, but there are plenty of good choices.
One of my favs. My claim to fame is that Michael Hutchence fell off the stage ( on purpose) at the Overflow pub in Perth in 1984, (I was 19 at the time) on top of me, I wrapped my arms around him and didn't want to let go, then I saw the panic in his eyes so I helped him back up 😅

One of my top 5 favorite bands, I love these guys. Keep exploring -- "SUICIDE BLONDE", "NEW SENSATION", "WHAT YOU NEED", "NEED YOU TONIGHT", and plenty more. Some rabbit holes are filled with rabbit poop, some are filled with treasure. This is one full of treasure.
Having grown up loving INXS and adoring Michael Hutchence, I was lucky enough to see them live for the first time when I was about 8years old for their Swing album tour and saw them live every tour for the next 3 albums. 4 live INXS concerts before I was 15. I still can't accept he's dead. Such ridiculous talent. Such a tragedy.
Bought tickets for my brother for his seventeenth birthday so guessing it was 1987…. A trip to London from the West Country was a big thing in those days and it was at the Royal Albert Hall… we were definitely country bumpkins in the big city lol
I just now watched the film INXS: Never Tear Us Apart. Not the doc,but the movie staring Luke Arnold from Black Sails as Micheal. Made me cry. It shows why his personality changed so badly,as well as everything else. Laid it all out there. So well done. The ending is so beautiful. They clear up the horrible rumors about his death in 1997.

The old man in the black hat in this video is the great actor Lawrence Olivier. He obviously was an old man then but, it was cool they had him in it. Olivier was the premiere actor of the stage (with some movies). A true giant.
The band was huge during its time and they did a lot of diverse music. It was not the same over and over. They were very interesting musically.
The singer was Michael Hutchins and he was a fantastic singer and frontman. Sad;y he battled with depression and ended up committing suicide in the mid 90s at the age of 36 ending the band. It was extremely tragic. Especially because by the 90s they had the SSRI drugs for depression and with therapy could have learned to live with it and overcome the grip of deep depression.

Love INXS! Michael’s voice was so fantastic! Glad you found them! More please! ❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
RIP Michael, left this world too soon. 😢🪽🪽❤
Thank you for keeping his music alive.
I was lucky to see these guys over 15 times and saw them on their first UK tour promoting the Listen like Thieves album. Brilliant band live!
Just wow 😊❤
My sister saw them at Longwood College back in the day.
Wow! That’s awesome.
Bought tickets for my brother for his seventeenth birthday so guessing it was 1987…. A trip to London from the West Country was a big thing in those days and it was at the Royal Albert Hall… we were definitely country bumpkins in the big city lol
They were along with U2 arguably the biggest band in the 90s
One of the best bands, ever!
Michael - you are missed. INXS will always be on my playlist.
Yeah brother they have great songs
