I was a fan from the beginning of the 80's, and had all their albums , on vinyl, at one stage ( from Shaboo Shabbah up until KICK). I was devastated when I heard Michael had died! I remember the breaking News, informing all of Australia what had happened. It was so heartbreaking! I was one of many, many fans that watched the funeral when it was shown live on tv.
May he forever rest in peace! 🕊️🙏❤️🇭🇲

INXS was one of the Biggest Australian rock bands ever. Check out their live in Wembley show its on youtube start to finish. Not just one of their best shows, One of the best Live rock performances ever recorded.
My old man tells a story about being at the Star Hotel in Newcastle in the late 70s seeing Midnight Oil - another Aussie rock band worth checking out, and their lead singer comes out on stage early in the night by himself. The crowd blow up thinking they are cancelling their show but he says Sorry i know we usually have a local band support us but we found these guys down in sydney and thought you would like them. Out comes a 17YO Michael Hutchence and procedes to blow everyone away

Personally, I love the fact that you go into songs like this completely blind. That way you're not tainted by any expectations or misconceptions because of something you might have read. Plus the fact that you then go back and look up details about the song/group when you like what you hear. That's what I want from a reaction, for what it's worth. Great job! Definitely more INXS ... "New Sensation" would be great, but there are plenty of good choices.

In - X - ess is how it is pronounced.
They were basically a rock band of the mid 80s to the mid 90s and were from Australia.
The old man in the black hat in this video is the great actor Lawrence Olivier. He obviously was an old man then but, it was cool they had him in it. Olivier was the premiere actor of the stage (with some movies). A true giant.
The band was huge during its time and they did a lot of diverse music. It was not the same over and over. They were very interesting musically.
The singer was Michael Hutchins and he was a fantastic singer and frontman. Sad;y he battled with depression and ended up committing suicide in the mid 90s at the age of 36 ending the band. It was extremely tragic. Especially because by the 90s they had the SSRI drugs for depression and with therapy could have learned to live with it and overcome the grip of deep depression.

My all time favourite band. My family thought someone had died I was crying so much when Michael died... Someone did die I said. I retreated to my room to listen to my INXS tape over n over..so dramatic I was. But still even today it makes me emotional.

1988 was around the time this came out. Michael Hutchence was one of the most charismatic and known front men of the 80s and early 90s. Sadly, he ended his life. They had quite a few great hits.

You think ‘88? I dated someone 88? I dated someone in sophomore year. Now, I did live overseas and that may be the difference. But in ‘86-‘87, I was a sophomore. My boyfriend was a huge fan of INXS and I knew their music in ‘86 because of him.

My dad took me to Tower Records on Sunset Boulevard in LA for my 16th birthday in 1989. I got two records: Debbie Gibson's Out of the Blue, and Inxs' Kick, which features this song. I have always been madly in love with Michael Hutchence. Inxs (in excess) is an Australian rock band comprised of the Farris brothers and their friends. Anyway, this was always one of my favorite songs of theirs. The world is bereft the beautiful and oh so talented Michael Hutchence. 🖤

I saw them live twice before they became the biggest band in the world and they were mind blowing even back then. You just knew they were a juggernaut. These days, my Aussie Rules football team plays this song at the beginning of each home game. The whole stadium sings along and it's breath taking.

Having grown up loving INXS and adoring Michael Hutchence, I was lucky enough to see them live for the first time when I was about 8years old for their Swing album tour and saw them live every tour for the next 3 albums. 4 live INXS concerts before I was 15. I still can't accept he's dead. Such ridiculous talent. Such a tragedy.

I just now watched the film INXS: Never Tear Us Apart. Not the doc,but the movie staring Luke Arnold from Black Sails as Micheal. Made me cry. It shows why his personality changed so badly,as well as everything else. Laid it all out there. So well done.
    The ending is so beautiful.
They clear up the horrible rumors about his death in 1997.
