Amtrak does not run here, so that is not an issue. They run on the Northeast Corridor south of this location. This is double tracked up to the Rossville bridge crossing. There is a siding at Van Bibber up the line in Edgewood. It may not be big enough for this one. Starting next month though, the Howard Street Tunnel will close and CSX trains will be running on the NEC, specifically I031 and I032. The rest will be rerouted around Baltimore via PA while the work is being done. Lately its been curfewed so traffic has been sparse.
These are two trains combined now. PSR more with less personnel. How would you like to be a conductor that had to find and reconnect a brake hose in the night on uneven terrain on one of those.
@@whereisthedollar That happened on this line and in this spot earlier this year. The train became separated and went into emergency. I was stuck on the incorrect side of the tracks for 2 hours while they fixed it. The separation happened about a mile into the train. One of my earlier videos shows that train going into emergency. Unfortunately, I was not able to capture the uncoupling itself.Just a month ago, I'd heard chatter on the radio about something happening with a train becoming uncoupled. The drawbar broke on one of the cars and was under something. It took me about an hour before I'd seen that it happened at the crossing that this was filmed. I was sitting there but it had happened before I'd got there.
In the late 60s I rode this section of B&O once - with my Grandparents on the race track train to Delaware Park...
Brand new csx engine on the front
Huge long train 4 engines
two in one
I'm 55 and I have been planning for over a year to hop a freight train. #1 rule NEVER get ON or OFF a moving train.
There is railroad safety video on here, that shows how to do this properly. It is from 1972. Haha!
i wonder if they have a siding that will hold this train ?if not you know what that means for an amtrak

Only 9000 ft?
220-car DPU coal trains down the James River... 12,000 ft give or take.
9000 feet isnt common here like it is there. Trains are different everywhere. Lets just appreciate that they run and give us something to enjoy.
