Goddam it! I knew my lovely SH4D was in your cross hairs. I agree with a lot of your comments but it ain’t going on Reverb any time soon. (You made it sound epic btw)
I was waiting for this episode, and I knew the Sh4D was going to get roasted. It's a good job the case is black, because any other colour would be charred black after this going over by 'your man Florian' who can smell weakness in an audio tool from 300m and will exploit it without mercy. But here come some paradoxes. Paradox 1 is the killer jams he gets out of it here, with some cone destroying bass tones and genuinlely interesting techno shenanigans. Paradox 2 is that I own one, and despite agreeing with all of its faults here (and some extras you didn't even mention such as when you motion record on any filter setting and then go to the tweak the filter later and get an almighty mess), I use mine loads. It's a wannabe groovebox which does not make the grade, it's a wannabee tone box which does not make the grade, it was thrown together on two rainy afternoons in Roland HQ using the sweepings from the floor of all the other synths they were doing, but I'm keeping mine because it does a job!
I was seriously thinking about purchasing it but already saw some negative feedback specially the convoluted workflow. Your video definitely confirms it, as you normally are quite benevolent in general, so thanks! Still those memes crack me up every time btw 😅😅😅
Well, sold one over here - you and Carl Craig, tbh. It arrives tomorrow, For me the thing is a 5 part groovebox with every inch covered in performance-centered controls that runs on batteries. I hope my Keylab61 can run on usb power because the dream is a portable rig for under a grand.
Thanks for a different perspective on this one. I heard so many channels big this up as a Roland renaissance that I was actually interested, but it appears they aren't getting their groove back quite yet. Maybe they should clone some Behringer synths
Kinda makes me regret my thought of trading a Model:samples+a Dreadbox Typhon for it,thinking I could minimise my set and not really lose anything. Now I’m not really sure 😂 Thanks for the great video!
Lol I love this piece. Been waiting for it to be up here lol. It needs a few updates to make it fire though. It needs to be able to shift notes of record off grid. And the fact that you can’t automate the rhythm section gets annoying but paired with other things, it’s dope
So yesterday, with hard earned cash burning a hole in my wallet and a need to release some G.A.S. I ventured out intent on buying the Hydrasynth desktop (space dictates), after an hour noodling on the ASM I felt zero love for it all (contrary to what all the synth reviewers are saying about it), so I turned my attention to a neglected and overlooked SH-4d nearby, after twenty minutes with it I parted with my cash and left the shop grinning like a goon. Spent the whole day with it and couldn't be happier. Moral of the story, 'only your ears and fingers can relieve your G.A.S.'
Yeah I never quite got what this one was supposed to be. Aside from the "draw your own waveform" gizmo I think the MC-101/707 can do all of it just fine. I know that Jorb was all over the "mod matrix" when this first dropped but I was able to replicate those stunts on the MC-707 as well so... Also I can import samples there. 🤷 Nice video as always and of course awesome tracks! ❤
I knew about this ahead of time from a fellow TH-camr who asked me to keep it quiet for obvious reasons. Knew it would eventually end up on the list like others i own did. Just Force, MPC Live 2, MC 707, Verselab MV 1, Modwave and that’ll be all my gear roasted 😭

Hot take, I really want one of these. I grew up on a RM1x and this looks like a much more synth-driven option for an all-in-one box.
Rm1x sequencer is eons beyond the SH4D's.
Rm1x is legendary!
Please do the Roland MC 505 next! I just got one in new condition. Original box. And with the VHS tape tutorial for it! So excited to jam with it. Got it for dirt cheap too!!!
Great suggestion, thanks!!!
Please add a competitor’s comparison or a separate video about what will you choose of different gears and why,
It will be really nice!
He drops hints and clues all over his videos about that, and he said quite a bit in the Verdict of this video.
@@Jason75913 wow pretty fast thanks
Have you tried the MC-101 or Syntakt?
Goddam it! I knew my lovely SH4D was in your cross hairs. I agree with a lot of your comments but it ain’t going on Reverb any time soon. (You made it sound epic btw)
Thank you!!!
Thank you!!!
Nicely done again as usual! How about getting a Cobalt8 or Argon8 in now that Modal is out of business.
Thank you!!! Great suggestions!!!
... and yet ... great tracks again!
Thank you!!!
Almost bought one recently but clearly hadn't done my homework! Hard swerve from me I think. Happy Friday everyone and splendid work Mr Pilz.
Thank you!!!
I was seriously thinking about purchasing it but already saw some negative feedback specially the convoluted workflow. Your video definitely confirms it, as you normally are quite benevolent in general, so thanks! Still those memes crack me up every time btw 😅😅😅
Thank you!!!
Nice!!! CC is the GOAT!!!
Nice work! Look at you and your best buddy, Roland! 👍🙂
❤️❤️❤️
What amazes me is that no matter how bad the equipment is that you feature on your channel you always manage to produce half decent tunes.
Thank you so much!!!
I spit tea on my keyboard when you said "body shaming option" thanks.
"I like fat bass and I cannot lie..." 🎶
Always a pleasure;)
Thanks for a different perspective on this one. I heard so many channels big this up as a Roland renaissance that I was actually interested, but it appears they aren't getting their groove back quite yet. Maybe they should clone some Behringer synths
Thank you!!!
dearest audiopliz thanks a lot for your videos, really inspirating for me
Thank you so much!!!
Kinda makes me regret my thought of trading a Model:samples+a Dreadbox Typhon for it,thinking I could minimise my set and not really lose anything.
Now I’m not really sure 😂
Thanks for the great video!
Definitely stick to the old setup!
@@AudioPilz Sounds like a good idea ;)
I was so convinced of its bad gear greatness that I bought two of them. Now I have a SH8-DD
Nice!!! Double D!!!
Lol I love this piece. Been waiting for it to be up here lol. It needs a few updates to make it fire though. It needs to be able to shift notes of record off grid. And the fact that you can’t automate the rhythm section gets annoying but paired with other things, it’s dope
👍👍👍
The synthwave jam at the end was great!
Thank you!!!
Does it really not have unquantized recording?
Exactly when suffering from GAS venturing in brick and mortar shops is way better than online substitute shopping.
@@LukezyM yes, it really doesn't, but it pairs beautifully with a midi sequencer that does
Yeah I never quite got what this one was supposed to be. ❤
Thank you!!!
Oh, it's all fun and games until one of your own beloved synths gets 'Bad Geared' 😳
lol
It happens to me almost every week;)
The cat in the sink when you said sync omg I am dying 🤣
😂😂😂
Wow, that's a proper roast. Love it! Definitely will not buy this one. And yet, you make it sound great. ❤
Thank you!!!
What's the Von Daniken-like image at 6.27?
It's aliens;)
Obviously :) @@AudioPilz
I knew about this ahead of time from a fellow TH-camr who asked me to keep it quiet for obvious reasons.
Knew it would eventually end up on the list like others i own did.
Just Force, MPC Live 2, MC 707, Verselab MV 1, Modwave and that’ll be all my gear roasted 😭
Who could it be?;) Great list of suggestions! Thanks!
@@AudioPilz That would be telling 😆 Oh no, here we go again. Question is, which one’s next? 😳
