i will personally play it since i played release warhammer 40k darktide and dont mind bugs in a game AND if you have seen my forum posts, you know im a nerotic, well.... i guess complainer who goes into great detail about my thoughts on things and about bugs i encounter so i would serve the purpose well as a tester and more specifically, would serve well in the roll of testing how tyhe actual loops feel as oppoed to finding each individual bug and error. that being said, if the release schedule is 6 months, full stop i think thats too long since there is gonna be like what, 16 to 20 biomes between both side of the map with like 7 to like 9 on the alpha 2 side let alone the shit on the beta 1 and 2 side of things meaning if we only get 1 biome every 6 months, thats like AT LEAST 42 months for alpha 2 meaning 3 and a half YEARS getting drip fed the important shit before we can even get to beta 1 and 2 which dont get me wrong, again, i will still be playing it but thats too risky and too much for the less invested testers than people like you or me. 3 months is a much better schedule that lets them get their view of everything they need to see ESPECIALLY since previous biomes theoretically would still be accessable and its not like they replace the biome every 6 months or something meaning the previous biomes would still be getting tested anyways meaning they dont need a full 6 months for each biome to be out. beyond that your map of all the biomes you suspect were already done, i agree with and think shows that they probably already have like half of the alpha 2 map done at this point and if we assume 3 months or even 1 and a half months per biome, that still 10 months on top of the next like 5 or 6 months to keep working on more of the unfinished areas of the alpha 2 map meaning well over half a year to do the land portion of the upperhalf of alpha 2 as i DOUBT we are getting much of anything sea wise aside from like the coasts so instead of 600km its probably more like 400 or maybe even less than 300km of map to make which IS A LOT but there is already a lot we can figure is done or close to done enough for alpha 2's purposes as it doesnt need to be brimming with content but just have the baseline to allow for testing the loops avalible adequately.
This is an alpha test for people who truly want to bug report and repeatedly test game loops this is not about content drops like it is a finished game, if they run into unseen problems like devs getting sick or quitting things will get delayed and this is why hyping an alpha test is bad for the community. And the truth is most of you have never tested a true alpha in your life and are going to be whining in your videos about how much is broken and why can't I do more things because you don't understand testing focuses. I have heard you knock Star Citizen for being in alpha for so long and Cloud Imperium Games has been making 2 AAA games at the same time with SQ42 getting it's release date in Oct this year, and SC is a far more complex and game changing than AOC will ever be tech wise. It will be fun to see you get a taste of what SC Community have been doing for years and SC is a sandbox MMO not a theme park with limited content to test.
@@rooster1012 that's the thing though, the duration of the Alpha 2 is going to be how long it takes for them to release the entire Alpha 2 map which is the entire left side of the map and on top of that, even the most in-depth testers are going to get annoyed when they've already tested everything there is and there's nothing left to bug test and the loops they currently have access to are limited especially since it will take more than one biome what's considerably more like two or three to have enough nodes to truly be able to test how Guild Wars and no politics will start to work out and what changes may or may not need to be made if things like resource quantities and how they spawn and when and where they spawn to actually be able to truly understand arguably the most important thing for the game how does it take 6 months to get there when everyone's already been able to get from Metropolis nodes up and more like 2 months at most, eventually a lot of the testers even the most dedicated will stop playing and won't realize when the new update drops or if they do, they won't care to test it and will stop participating in the alpha test which will lead to a lot of server mergers and a lot of need to essentially try to make sure you maintain max level populations so we get a clear idea of what a properly full server is supposed to look like.
I am an Alpha tester and will be Alpha 2 testing this Q3. After several years of development, I am expecting to see a foundation and core structure of the game. I am not looking for a perfect playable or beta level of the game. However, I need to see that we've moved past 1) simple models; 2) unbuilt worlds; 3) general indicators the game can progress to beta. It's time to start putting the idea on paper.
i finally get to jump in with alpha 2 thanks to the kickstarter pack i got all those years ago, i'm so excited to see how the game feels with where it's at
Just as long as we don’t have another stacking speed buff from a quest giver 😂😂😂😂 as fun as that was to mess with it was the most broken thing in alpha 1
I don't know if you can expect a regular progression like that. This is an mmo (one of the hardest games to make), lead by a millionaire guy with no prior experience in game development.
That’s actually an amazing thing to do for the game man. I didn’t have any particular plans for the alpha 2 as an individual other than just trying the game out and to participate in the dev tests like when Steven asked people to test sieges. But now that you bring up your plan to actually stress test and try to break the systems to improve the game I’m 100% down with helping with that as a lot of us will be. And keep up what you got going, you are doing amazing with the content
I think your outlook on the alpha is a healthy one. You've actually got a game plan for truly testing systems, which is great. I'm personally not expecting a release cadence of any kind, or really having any kind of expectations for it. But, I'm also not partaking in it (regardless if it was open and not locked behind a paywall). Once alpha hits I'll actually slow down on my following of the game. This is an MMO I have been following for years and I don't want spoilers. I'm a little scared that any kind of community driven quests will be ruined due to meta gaming the shit out of them by the time the game is released and I won't get a genuine experience of failing them or learning how to trigger certain events.. but thats just the age of gaming we're in. So for me, I'll leave the alpha testers to do gods work and hope Steven sticks to the vision of the game and isnt influenced by people who wanna turn it into a WoW (or any other big, corporate BS MMO)clone. To the alpha testers - Make sure the game is hard - you cant solo pull 100 mobs and AoE them down. Traversing the world stays meaningful and dangerous. Never let them change the idea that the game is fully open PvP or that you can lose resources (I generally don't PvP, but this is very valuable in creating memorable interactions with other players). And make sure its a grind - creating nodes or doing story archs cant be meta gamed, leveling artisan skills actually takes a lot of hard work, and hitting max level stays in the 200+ hour timeline, even if highly optimized or in a group of power grinders or boosters (also no boosted XP for alts or anything). Please and thank you :)
How early access tends to play out is ppl will join and play until they get their fill of the game. Some will stay longer than others but eventually they will quit. However if it's a good game they will return for every major update until full release of the game.
Why don’t they have the server up for a one month for each testing phase of alpha two then closing the server for a couple of months and add other phases of testing and rinse and repeat? Don’t have the server up 24 /7 ,thus the testers will not burn out, also I think the approach is better to keep the tester engaged ,and the community happy.
They will 100% lose most of their testers. Thats pretty much how all modern alphas/betas go. People are looking to cure boredom not participate in a true alpha/beta. What I think they should do is have a tiered system based on a players activity or feedback. Alpha should only be persistent for those that are actually actively testing, submitting bugs, and providing feedback. Otherwise, if you aren't doing these things, you'll only be able to play for specific scheduled events when major changes are made and they need headcount. They can't likely implement this at this point but it would reward beta behavior for those that want to contribute and also prevent people that just want to play a game from getting bored and dropping it.
@@stickyrubbHe said it's probably impossible but I agree that this would have been a better system. But they needed money so they presold a game. Alpha 2 will probably be a failure and people will be very disappointed. My hope is that intrepid doesn't stop making the game, goes into shutdown mode and 2 years later comes out with a finished game based on alpha feedback.
Alpha is a word used alot now. Steam use the word simply to get the game out. An alpha can have a varying range of concepts from bare bones to lots of things to do...
@@HalIOfFamer That system might have worked, but it is way too late for that, and I think policing people's playtime during your testing period is a bad idea anyway. Alpha 2 might not be the success that some think it'll be, but however it'll go, there are still two Beta phases planned afterwards. I'm fairly certain they won't change that.
@@stickyrubb Exactly, what is more realistic is that they would have to implement this once they inevitably have to invite fresh testers in the future. If at all. Can't really retroactively add these limitations at this point.
Star Citizen was "scheduled" to receive major updates every three months. Since that announcement, they have never successfully delivered as originally planned. Either content was removed from the update, or the update missed release deadlines. I dont think Ashes can do what they are saying.
It will take as long as it takes. I get that we don't like to feel impatient. But there is only a problem with it if a similar kind of game comes out before then that captures and keeps market dominance in the MMO genre
*Maybe the 2heads will rage, but not me. I've done Alpha tests before.* *A2 isn't a game, it's a job. Play, Test, fill out Feedback/Bug forms, add systems, content. Repeat.* *I joined A2 to help make Ashes the best game possible!*
Guild Wars 2 got so much right it's hilarious, but then so did Guild Wars 1 which is why both games are still making money more than 10 years later. Can't say that about almost any other fantasy mmo except WoW.
People also forget content is also locked and unlocked by what node is advanced so the content will stretch longer because you have to destroy one node and raise another up
I dont expect this game to be a slam dunk in A2, but I expect them to listen to player feedback during it. We can help make this the best MMO on the market because they have proven they will listen to us.
Players feedback is often very misguided because the people who are having fun aren't complaining. Look at Tarkov. The game was great when nobody was talking about it. Then it got popular and people started having opinions, drove the devs fucking mad and now the game is dying. I think player feedback should be forced. Before you log into alpha 2 and play, you need to get through a questionnaire. How much did you like feature/system X 1. It's shit. 2. It's bad. 3. It's aight. 4. It's good. 5. It's better than sex. Ask those questions about 10 systems every 24h. Add a 6th option that is haven't interacted yet.
Your plan for what you wanna do and test in Alpha 2 is exactly what's needed. Not just doing the usual stuff you would expect, but also do the unexpected and outrageous stupid things to see what impact it will have on the game.
I'll give you an objective perspective buddy. Alpha 1 - 30% finished Alpha 2 - 60% finished Beta 1 - 75% finished Beta 2 - 90% finished Full release - 97% finished First patch - 100% finished This is what you all should expect from this game, so curb your expectations and hope for the best from this game.
wrong alpha 2 when will be done will be finished ove 75% thats already said!Beta are already finished product with some bugs and other small stuff of problems!
Biggest fear for me is burnout, have to remember its an alpha and make the conscious decision to "test" the game not play the game. A casual approach for the majority of players testing A2 would be ideal. but we all know the moment we hit that login screen taking a huge hit of copium over loading our brains with dopamine our primal no sleep mountain dew consuming addicted gamer personalities will take over. All jokes aside I am looking forward to getting my hands on A2 and testing in Q3. I do not have a preference for when wipes/content/updates happen in its development stage. If there's not enough content or things to do/test I'm personally interested in providing feedback to intrepid by the next update there's nothing wrong in hanging my cloak up for awhile until the next big wipe/update.
I think that Intrepid has thought of what you brought up. They know that they will louse some testers, but the ones that stick with it will have plenty of content to release to the public especially when we get closer to the next phases of the game play. I think the river land is likely to the only area released, broken up into a couple city state areas. The updates will later have the other areas included later. I love that you are already planning on conducting some community events, though I’m not sure how this will occur in a way that doesn’t equal chest runs, group and single player tournament duels. Long story short I’m very open to the idea of experiencing it. But with your concerns about lousing as much as 80% of the testers, do you think we will have something like 20 servers that will be merged later to have the numbers for testing threshold? Every 6 months for release!?! Interesting
Regarding content release cadence, I don't see a problem with the first content update happening after ~6 months, node development will keep us busy, but after that, cadence should be way shorter. I think wipes should happen with every new biome or big content update. Tho I agree at some point they should try to avoid wipes to test the systems long term, but this should only happen once A2 is solidified in biomes and content..
My opinion is that people who get into alphas are testers, not players. You are not playing an upcoming game, you are applying to a voluntary job that requires time and energy put into it. Anyone that just wants to "play the game earlier" is wrong to do so, and the devs shouldn't need to cater to these people at all. So while it would be cool as a viewer to see progression and intrigue in the alphas, that isn't their purpose and I don't think anyone should really view it that way
So essentially, it's valid criticism for a tester to say "this loop doesn't quite feel fun enough yet and it's missing features", but not at all valid to say "I'm bored of the alpha now"
The closer we get to A2, the more I am getting concerned about A2's public exposure eventually damaging the health of the game if it's in a state that our expectations lead us to believe
That is because most people think testing a localized version of a Korean game is alpha testing and have never tested a raw unfinished game in their lives.
They have over 200k alpha 2 keys have been sent out. And most of those were people who paid $250-500 to get them so most will probably play it for at least a days. How much people atay after that is conpletely up in the air. I'd expect normal player drop off or even more extreme player player drop-off from the game being unfinished.
My expectations for A2 are pretty grounded. I'm testing the game but the real goal is to make as many friends I can in A2, and join a guild that isn't going to kick me for not being on 24/7 because I can only really play when my babies are asleep. Test the fuck out of the crafting and see what crafting tree is the most lucrative for the least amount of time spent or something that is easy to jump off of once nap time is over.
6 months is a solid timeline, look at escape from tarkov, they get small patches every couple months and then one big game changing patch with a wipe every 6-8 months. With a hard-core community you'll get people coming back for wipes. Most will play to grind for a few months and then it'll get quiet for a month or so, and then it'll wipe.
You know, one good thing about WoW vanilla was that it didn't have huge changes for a couple/few years. It was just nice to play the game and experience it without major changes for a while. Every 3-6 months having new content seems excessive. Just my opinion 😁
It all comes down to what is actually possible to achieve. I definitely don't want rushed updates that are filled with unpolished garbage. So i would say no to all fixed timetable update schedules. Launch them the second they are ready. Not sooner, not later.
I think, they really analyzed the early access of BG3. Why was the launch of BG3 successful? They tested mechanics, class balance and early game experience and held 90% back.
i think A2 will have multiple zones at launch mostly for servers and player capacity. they are gonna annoy all the testers by not having the capacity when they have a rough estimate of numbers due to selling the keys.
i assumed when ashes of creation swaped over to unreal 5 that we reset the 6 year plan and i feel the progress we have made since unreal 5 is staggering especially in comparison to other games and im excited to see where we go in the next 3 years
What’s the level cap for A2? Are players even going to be able to get nodes to a significant level? How would you feel if you can get a node to max level all within a single zone? Is that good gameplay? Or should you have to go to multiple zones and gather resources and do grinds in other zones to be able to build up a node to max level? Are you ok with the riverlands providing everything you need to generate high level nodes? I don’t think that’s good design. One zone shouldn’t have everything you need. A2 is going to be A1 all over again thanks to intrepid realizing A1 was a hardcoded mess that they couldn’t build upon. I can’t wait to see what a Hardcoded mess A2 is. Nice “desert” showcase. That skybox would have broken the riverlands so they slapped it in a small fake dev server with next to no features or systems hooked up and next to no client side features that would effect performance to be able to show the skybox off because of how poorly optimized it is. Why are they showing this stuff off if it’s not even close to being ready? What a mess 😂
The argument of "Its not the job to keep you interested" is fair and accurate, but is countered completely by "Its in their best interests to keep it engaging and diverse with players to provide the best feedback".
Maybe a good idea would be to reward everyone who participates in Alpha/Beta with equally many days/months of game-subscription time. I mean if you log in to the game and play for at least 1 hour for say 15 out of 30 days of a given month, you will get 15 days of gametime when the game launches. :)
Valuable participation should be rewarded, logging in and only for an hour is kinda worthless. Give feedback, report bugs, suggest fixes for bugs, create good content.
As testers, it is important to pace ourselves to avoid burnout. I really enjoyed Alpha 1 testing, but towards the end, got tired and burned out as there really was very little content. I foresee a different experience with Alpha 2 where content will be king and continually updated as we progress through the alpha 2 period. With that said, pacing is important. Personally, not testing every day all the time will be important.
This is why I didn't pre order the game because I don't want to ruin any part of it, only because I've been out of mmo world for a while and want a game to grind and chill on for years to come.
I currently play Icarus and Skull and Bones.....I played Fallout 76 when it was beta/release So am I ready to play the equivalent of that for a number of years just as I played those games? LET'S GOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo
I personally hope the Alpha 2 only goes for around 18 months - 2yrs max. Any longer then this (unless a beta time frame has been announed by then) i feel would be to long and they risk loosing people and interest. In relation to time between patches i think there will prob be 2 types of patches. Major after every season (six months) which could be the addition of bio zones or races or such. Then maybe every 4 - 6 weeks minor patches which are cleaning the bugs and or game play. I look forward to being part of the testing and i can not wait to walk the world looking for bugs and reporting them along with assistng groups doing larger content to find the bugs so when the game is released we have an epic game. Bring on the testing =)
I will 100% be testing. Will i be testing 20+ hours a week after the first few weeks? Almost zero chance until it reaches a point it actually feels like a game. If its the buggy broken mess we exoect ill probably be on quite a bit the first few weeks trying it out but after that probably just a few hours on weekends.
yup this is a practical take why would they give us more broken zones in alpha 2 until they mechanics of what they want to do are at least working in one zone. when those mechanics are dont it be way easier to rollout new zones for us to test one at a time making sure each one works in unison with each other.
Some will be shocked by the Alpha 2 and become bored fairly quickly because it wont be complete, polished and without bugs. The concerns are understandable as far as keeping testers busy and interested until the game is fully complete.
If it is a true Alpha2 (and everything said indicates that it will be) then there is a 0% chance of people dropping out. The Alpha2 should have 100% of functionality and should only want for width. So, for example, several classes and maybe archetypes, may be missing entirely, but the ones that are included, may have bugs, or quality, performance, balancing and/or cosmetic issues, but they should be pretty comparable to the finished product. And all we have heard about the finished product means that is is going to way superior to anything else we have seen.
Expectations just get in the way of a good experience. Even if something is just slightly different or even better than your expectations, your confirmation bias makes it bad. It's not what you thought it would be and told others how it's going to be.
Imo Intreped should consider a server merge plan before starting Alpha 2. They could make a whole event out of it. The world destroys itself again and the players are forced to flee back through a portal.
I alpha tested NW in 2017 and it was a complete disaster our feedback made them gut the game and rethink what the direction it was taking and it still released in a bad state.
The negative effect of hanging every "season" in an MMO would be, the gear grind would become near pointless. You aren't able to focus on niche build items if the meta keeps changing. Unless items are just stupid easy to get in which case that would be even dumber.
Starting with one biome that everybody in the game would focus on at once would make sense, before they release another biome, that everybody would rush into and start testing. If they were to release alpha with, say, 4 biomes, the testers would be spread out so much and results would be a lot lower to come in. In my head, every 3 months sounds good, but I have no idea how much working game they actually have ready to feed us. And I'm thinking 3 months is probably overly long for the public too.. I'd expect people want at least SOMETHING every 4 weeks at least, even if it's not a major patch, but something interesting to interact with. Big missions, different bosses, added jobs, something. Or even use that instead of major patches. Every 4 weeks they release a handful of content, and when they have the gathered data points for the biomes, then they can release the next one.
Shit like this is why alpha 2 will fail and this game will likely fail overall. You people over hyped yourself to such a degree that cyberpunk fans are looking at you weird.
You didn't listen to a word about this being a true Alpha and I bet you have never played a true alpha in your life, you are going to be crying soooo bad.
Im pretty sure 10% of alpha testers being active will give them plenty of reports for them to work with. 20k ppl. The entire reason i wanted to be an alpha testers is souly so that i have a leg up in experience playing the game before it launchs lol.
Heres my take: Those who have bought alpha 2, expecting an early access game will be dissapointed, and might quit. On the other hand those people most likely don't fill in bug reports and other usefull stuff for development anyways. And the only data they provide the team is what to expect for player retention. If 90% of the alpha testers will quit during the alpha then you still have 10k or more real testers left.
If they lose alpha testers - good. The people who drop like flies are the ones who wanted a game and not a testing opportunity. Hoping they do lose a bunch of testers right away tbh so I can get in there to help when they sell keys again. Interim length for major A2 patches is just going to depend. I think intrepid shouldn’t care about tester falloff between content patches. The people who genuinely care about the game will still follow the news and come back when more content is available.
I agree, AOC will be the best experience we had in decades, it is literally a system with some advanced mechanics never seen before a true next gen ...
Edit: guess I shoulda watched a second more I guess he was talking about testers but my point still stands on actual launch :p. Just on the first point of contention about losing 80% of the player base well that number only really matters if you start off with a small amount of players. For arguments sake let's say ashes launches with 3million players 20% of that is still 600k players which in my eyes is still a massive success and the thing is say ashes is actually really good than people will start converting and it will regain players. Fact of the matter is a ton of people play these games at launch because of hype or their favorite streamer is playing it than when the community events fall off from said streamer they quit because they were only playing for the streamer in the first place. Ashes doesn't need to really be the next break out revolutionary mmo to be a success it just has to be good enough to solidify itself as one of the top 5 mmos currently in the sphere. Not really a dig on ashes but the tech just isn't there yet for there to be a new revolutionary mmo that will capture multi double digit millions like World of warcraft did back in the day but that is fine. Ashes just needs to be a great game and have a dedicated player base and I'm sure that would make Intrepid more than happy enough to call it a success. Now my small input to make ashes better. PLEASE let us have an option to walk are mounts around like by holding them by the reigns and leading them around or some type of leash. It would be awesome petting them and feeding them from out of our hands would also be pretty sick (can be a idle animation or an actual interactive) either way would be one of the coolest things for game feel imo that you could add.
It sounds like to me they don’t want people trying to power level and then get bored. They need to be adding new content at least once a month to keep the focus going.
That is not how true alpha testing works it is about testing and solving problems as some will be easy to fix and some will be more complex. They have internal goals like any company but stacking content upon existing broken content accomplishes nothing.
As someone who was in beta of SWTOR and ESO. Only the BETA of those big RPGs was already kinda boring, and it killed my hype a lot. When the game came out, I still played, but not as vigorously as I would have. I was leading guilds, and people in my guild who didn't play beta or alpha were clearly more excited. I was happy for them, and sad I killed my excitement in the beta. This long alpha is going to kill the interest of a lot of people.
That is assured and inevitable with how they are doing the public exposure for the game I think. The real question is how they plan to combat this. The best plan in my mind is that they keep at least half of the content (regions, quests, endgame skills, etc.) or so out of the alpha 2, that way when they are ready for release they can make a big public marketing push to convince people it is something like a 'new' game now, showing off the new stuff, similar to how Blizzard did with Overwtatch 2 before they killed interest in the game by dropping PvE, or how FF14 remastered itself from the flop it was into the successful mmo it is today.
yeah. They have about 200 devs which is somewhere in the ballpark of 15-25 million a year in labor alone if I had to guess based on typical pay for CS majors. It could be even higher or a little lower depending on what average pay for a dev is.
At this point im drowning in copium for release. I just hope i dont burn out playing A2 that when the time finally comes im bored because ive done that, seen that, been there already
Man I wouldn't compare PoE to AoC. Like 200 skill gems combo'd with the largest passive tree of any game that exists. Along with unique gear that greatly change how mechanics work, you can hardly compare anything with PoE in terms of customization.
Testing numbers should not be a problem. They can either reopen the A2 offerings or upgrade the Beta 1 players if they need to. Alphas, in general, have a huge rush in the beginning, only to have it wane over time. It should ebb and flow.
i took it as a joke............ becaue i cant see him saying that with a straight face and meaning it, and him putting down all these other mmorpg communites... like that quote is final fantasy 14 and he hates that game , yes? i know he is coked up on blasted on coupim but man, he really needs to come down, i was hyped for this game 2 years ago cuz i thought maybe it be out in 3 years but looks like it wont be out for another 3 or 4 years......
This game will not see the light beyond 2028 to be optimistic, the reality is that alpha 2 will be launched 40% advanced, less than predicted. Alpha will last 3 years, and beta 1 and 2, 1 to 2 years approx. Release date, 2028/30. This is because it is an overly ambitious project and according to Intrepid it will revolutionize the mmorpg genre. Also add Steven's inexperience in the development of this type of video game genre, the bad decisions and management that delay development much longer. Also, the tab target combat system will end up killing this game, the tab target is too outdated for today.
i've never seen a livestream where steven didn't have a cough... so my conspiracy... is steven dying? is that why he's funding the mmo? a legacy to leave behind?
"same with New World when it was in Beta and Alpha, it was a 90% finished game" what a weird take, New world has been released for 3 years and its still nowhere close to being 90% finished
it cant take so long anymore before they fully release... there is still the very probable threat of burnout... if they keep up that flow of information to the hyptrain, a lot of people are going to be burnt out of the game before they even launched... i say its at most another 2 years. if they dont fully launch within the next 2 years, the game will be dead before launch. i know u are going to make fun of that comment as u allways do, but thats ok and i actually think thats funny.
its going to be a beta for testing..... get over yourself. The most important thing is that this game isn't being created by some huge money driven corportation. Relax, it will be fine and be thankful they care about what the community has to say.
I got excited a couple YEARS ago and paid a stupid amount of money on this non-existant trash. You're currently wondering if A2 testers will lose interest? I've already lost interest. Offering A2 access with a different set of crappy cosmetic items every month for around 3 years straight is a straight up money grab.
Graphik its crap look another Graphiks Unreal 5...... how want stev make sure they have the best graphik ? and orther things i mean^^ give enough games where come up they have a lot more better graphik and better combat attack effects... They need updatet the graphik and another things

i will personally play it since i played release warhammer 40k darktide and dont mind bugs in a game AND if you have seen my forum posts, you know im a nerotic, well.... i guess complainer who goes into great detail about my thoughts on things and about bugs i encounter so i would serve the purpose well as a tester and more specifically, would serve well in the roll of testing how tyhe actual loops feel as oppoed to finding each individual bug and error. that being said, if the release schedule is 6 months, full stop i think thats too long since there is gonna be like what, 16 to 20 biomes between both side of the map with like 7 to like 9 on the alpha 2 side let alone the shit on the beta 1 and 2 side of things meaning if we only get 1 biome every 6 months, thats like AT LEAST 42 months for alpha 2 meaning 3 and a half YEARS getting drip fed the important shit before we can even get to beta 1 and 2 which dont get me wrong, again, i will still be playing it but thats too risky and too much for the less invested testers than people like you or me.
It's time to start putting the idea on paper.
i finally get to jump in with alpha 2 thanks to the kickstarter pack i got all those years ago, i'm so excited to see how the game feels with where it's at
Is it possible to buy a key today?
@@danialmoser2573 No they haven't been selling them or cosmetics for something like 3 months but i think you can still win one in competitions.
We may not have Ashe’s, but we have each other 😂😂😂
I think your outlook on the alpha is a healthy one.
To the alpha testers -
Make sure the game is hard - you cant solo pull 100 mobs and AoE them down.
Withholding the game from players who paid 400 dollars is a great idea if you want to completely destroy Intrepid studios' reputation.
One thing I admire about Narc is he's willing to say he's wrong and change his mind.
It will take as long as it takes. I get that we don't like to feel impatient. But there is only a problem with it if a similar kind of game comes out before then that captures and keeps market dominance in the MMO genre
*Maybe the 2heads will rage, but not me. I've done Alpha tests before.*
*A2 isn't a game, it's a job. Play, Test, fill out Feedback/Bug forms, add systems, content. Repeat.*
*I joined A2 to help make Ashes the best game possible!*
Going the way of GW2 combat was the right move. It will be interesting to see it in action.
How much did you like feature/system X
1. It's shit.
2. It's bad.
3. It's aight.
4. It's good.
5. It's better than sex.
Ask those questions about 10 systems every 24h. Add a 6th option that is haven't interacted yet.
Good points in the vid about the release schedule for AoC and gate keeping.
Your plan for what you wanna do and test in Alpha 2 is exactly what's needed. Not just doing the usual stuff you would expect, but also do the unexpected and outrageous stupid things to see what impact it will have on the game.
I'll give you an objective perspective buddy.
Alpha 1 - 30% finished
Alpha 2 - 60% finished
Beta 1 - 75% finished
Beta 2 - 90% finished
Full release - 97% finished
First patch - 100% finished
This is what you all should expect from this game, so curb your expectations and hope for the best from this game.
thinking A2 will be 60% complete is........ a take.
@@whatwouldericdo it won't be any more than 60%. But will we get even 50%, let alone 60% is something to be seen after the Alpha 2 release..
@@jassimsalam A2 will only be part of a single biome. Nowhere near 50%.
@@whatwouldericdo not talking about biomes alone. The overall systems and concepts I mean.
wrong alpha 2 when will be done will be finished ove 75% thats already said!Beta are already finished product with some bugs and other small stuff of problems!
If there's not enough content or things to do/test I'm personally interested in providing feedback to intrepid by the next update there's nothing wrong in hanging my cloak up for awhile until the next big wipe/update.
i've started with the guild 2, came across archeage and fell in love with it and will most probably play aoc. it can't be as broken as the guild 2
Dev's certainly feeling like they will be judged like a fully released game. Alpha 2 going to be what? 100,000 players?
If you want to test it hardcore mode, and create a content about it here on YT, I'm all for it.
As long as it updates more often than Star Citizen and it’s functional then I’m here most/all of Alpha 2 🐦🔥
I think, they really analyzed the early access of BG3. Why was the launch of BG3 successful? They tested mechanics, class balance and early game experience and held 90% back.
i think A2 will have multiple zones at launch mostly for servers and player capacity. they are gonna annoy all the testers by not having the capacity when they have a rough estimate of numbers due to selling the keys.
i assumed when ashes of creation swaped over to unreal 5 that we reset the 6 year plan and i feel the progress we have made since unreal 5 is staggering especially in comparison to other games and im excited to see where we go in the next 3 years
Temper expectations. Alpha 4 is when it will really start coming together
Depends on how many are KS backers
I currently play Icarus and Skull and Bones.....I played Fallout 76 when it was beta/release
So am I ready to play the equivalent of that for a number of years just as I played those games?
Well, 'IF' they do lost a lot of testers, it would be a good practice for their server merger plans and see how it goes.
imagine paying $250+ and then quitting after a month
yup this is a practical take why would they give us more broken zones in alpha 2 until they mechanics of what they want to do are at least working in one zone. when those mechanics are dont it be way easier to rollout new zones for us to test one at a time making sure each one works in unison with each other.
i can’t wait to finally play this bastard game
Imagine spending over $100 on an Alpha Key and don't play it
Some will be shocked by the Alpha 2 and become bored fairly quickly because it wont be complete, polished and without bugs.
I love the diversity in tuning your character! no two characters will be the same!
Imo Intreped should consider a server merge plan before starting Alpha 2. They could make a whole event out of it. The world destroys itself again and the players are forced to flee back through a portal.
Waste of development time and money just server wipe like every other company does.
3 months per update will keep testers, 6 months will lose them but is a more realistic time line…and that is both expected and ok
New World wasn't 90% finished when it released, much less when it was in beta.
It's looking like a fully fleshed out game , I am getting excited for A2!
Shit like this is why alpha 2 will fail and this game will likely fail overall. You people over hyped yourself to such a degree that cyberpunk fans are looking at you weird.
Just curb your expecations pls. I'm excited for A2 but I don't wanna get overly disappointed
Keep up the good work!
The people who genuinely care about the game will still follow the news and come back when more content is available.
wow major updates were only once a year and it was fine
Narc consistently acting like star citizen and AoC are different situations is pure copium and a meme at this point
Am i the only one who heard "Butt stuff"? 6:17 🤣
I agree, AOC will be the best experience we had in decades, it is literally a system with some advanced mechanics never seen before a true next gen ...
Talk to Ashes of Relation!
Do it.
ArenaNet should simply buy this up and call it Guild Wars 3.
A2 players: Wait, it's only the Riverlands?👨🚀
Steven: Always has been 🔫👨🚀
Well we have seen other biomes.
6 months is a good time frame imo
They won’t have enough money to support 200 devs in alpha for 6 years.
It’s got to release within a couple years max id think.
yeah. They have about 200 devs which is somewhere in the ballpark of 15-25 million a year in labor alone if I had to guess based on typical pay for CS majors. It could be even higher or a little lower depending on what average pay for a dev is.
At this point im drowning in copium for release. I just hope i dont burn out playing A2 that when the time finally comes im bored because ive done that, seen that, been there already
bro hit the threadmill
how do I get a kEY
Man I wouldn't compare PoE to AoC. Like 200 skill gems combo'd with the largest passive tree of any game that exists. Along with unique gear that greatly change how mechanics work, you can hardly compare anything with PoE in terms of customization.
we don't need more than 1 biome if the gameplay is good.
Persistent alpha was a big mistake and a marketing ploy to sell more keys.
Testing numbers should not be a problem. They can either reopen the A2 offerings or upgrade the Beta 1 players if they need to.
Alphas, in general, have a huge rush in the beginning, only to have it wane over time. It should ebb and flow.
"we may not have AoC but at least we have each other" hits so hard.
i took it as a joke............
becaue i cant see him saying that with a straight face and meaning it, and him putting down all these other mmorpg communites... like that quote is final fantasy 14 and he hates that game , yes?
i know he is coked up on blasted on coupim but man, he really needs to come down, i was hyped for this game 2 years ago cuz i thought maybe it be out in 3 years but looks like it wont be out for another 3 or 4 years......
Fr, man
you know you're fucked when you compare your copium to star citizen
This game will not see the light beyond 2028 to be optimistic, the reality is that alpha 2 will be launched 40% advanced, less than predicted. Alpha will last 3 years, and beta 1 and 2, 1 to 2 years approx. Release date, 2028/30. This is because it is an overly ambitious project and according to Intrepid it will revolutionize the mmorpg genre. Also add Steven's inexperience in the development of this type of video game genre, the bad decisions and management that delay development much longer.
Also, the tab target combat system will end up killing this game, the tab target is too outdated for today.
i've never seen a livestream where steven didn't have a cough... so my conspiracy... is steven dying? is that why he's funding the mmo? a legacy to leave behind?
if they make this Alpha 2 a long time the interest will drop completely. People including myself will move on and not bother with AOC anymore.
Yeah I legit think alpha 2 should last 6 months, then 3 months for each beta for a total of 1 year for release. Any longer and game dies.
Lol
Yumny YT Narc content
"same with New World when it was in Beta and Alpha, it was a 90% finished game"
what a weird take, New world has been released for 3 years and its still nowhere close to being 90% finished
May the 4th be with you!
THIS GAME WILL BE OUT
it cant take so long anymore before they fully release...
there is still the very probable threat of burnout... if they keep up that flow of information to the hyptrain, a lot of people are going to be burnt out of the game before they even launched...
i say its at most another 2 years.
if they dont fully launch within the next 2 years, the game will be dead before launch.
i know u are going to make fun of that comment as u allways do, but thats ok and i actually think thats funny.
aoc will be released in 2090
Yes, they r so what else can we do hahha
its going to be a beta for testing..... get over yourself. The most important thing is that this game isn't being created by some huge money driven corportation. Relax, it will be fine and be thankful they care about what the community has to say.
noice vid
I got excited a couple YEARS ago and paid a stupid amount of money on this non-existant trash. You're currently wondering if A2 testers will lose interest? I've already lost interest. Offering A2 access with a different set of crappy cosmetic items every month for around 3 years straight is a straight up money grab.
It's alpha, ok, but this game already seems outdated not only visually but in mechanics and gameplay
Ain't fucking buying an alpha lmao.. They can pay us to test their products, time is money. They wont release the game until 3 years from now on
It will never launch. Look at the Star Citizen, same bs.
I think this game gonna be trash, prepare to be disappointed
Graphik its crap look another Graphiks Unreal 5...... how want stev make sure they have the best graphik ? and orther things i mean^^ give enough games where come up they have a lot more better graphik and better combat attack effects... They need updatet the graphik and another things
Ahahaha looks like you miss the new world Alpha the game was fucking empty before the 360 system reboot
