The sad thing about this is Della assumes Scrooge and Donald are raising the boys together. She doesn’t know her accident caused Donald to blame Scrooge and caused a rift between them that lasted 10 whole years. Scrooge really did try to get Della to come back down, but she didn’t listen. This really makes the boys accusing Scrooge of not doing enough or egging her on really makes it sting more for me.
It's also sad that she makes those logs, believing that Scrooge or Donald are getting them and hearing her say all this stuff, believing that someone or her sons are listening to her, but no one is seeing them, so she's saying all this emotional stuff to no one
Yeah, it was a really terrible thing for the boys to do. They didn't even believe him when he said he spared no expense or give him a chance to explain!!

Apparently one of the creators really pushed for Della to have a prosthetic leg and groups for people with them praised the show for their depiction of it.
Scrooge's reaction to the leg is Wonderful. Recognizing her genius initiative and that she's not really any worse for it, but still: his baby girl got hurt.
The writers had a difficult task with Della. Shes a character that appeared very few times in the comics. She didnt have any character at all. They had nothing to go on. Then she had to compete with the main cast personality wise, so making her likeable was going to be hard. Plus she was built up all through season 1. Needless to say, they had their hands full with this episode. But they knocked it out of the park with her. Shes such a fun and loveable character, who is very relatable. I love her to death.
So, this show is probably going to be the definitive depiction of Della Duck for a *long* time. She appeared in, like, one Danish comic before this, and that's it. What this means is that, if Della starts showing up in other Disney mainline media (like Mickey mouse) - and I'm sure she will eventually - her *baseline* will be this. I wouldn't be surprised if the metal leg becomes a staple of her character design.
my favorite part of this episode is how well they display Della's manerisms and her relation to the other Ducks she's adventurous and silly in the same ways Duey is She's a woodchuck and plan maker like Huey She sees the angles and makes predictive calls like Luey and has anger problems like Donald

I believe that Della cutting off her leg is a reference to the history of Aron Ralston, who fell into a canyon while hiking and had his arm stuck under a rock for over 127 hours and he had to cut it off to survive (there was even a movie based on it titled "127 hours" starring James Franco).
Yeah I've read that one too. His situation is the most prominent, but I believe there are others out there who had to do it too. People in the past, in the recent... The old expression "stuck between a rock and a hard place" somehow always ends up with the stuck part being severed

1. Della is voiced by Paget Brewster, who also voiced Bird Girl (Eh? EH?) in Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law. 2. Della's Lullaby (which still breaks my heart to this day) is set to the tune of the Moon level in the DT NES game; amazing shout out/detail IMO
At the DuckTales panel at D23, we all asked if the NES Moon theme will be incorporated into the new show. Lin-Manuel Miranda was even humming it during his recording sessions.
I love how everything connects in subtle ways. The song actually calls back to S1. In "Terror of the Terra-fermians!" when Huey is panicking about not knowing what is outside, Webby calms him down with, "Whatever it is, We'll face it together."
In case you might not have known: That melody is a direct reference of the original Duck Tales' video game outing "Duck Tales" for the Nintendo Entertainment System aka NES where it's the Moon stage's theme. =3
Here is a fun fact about Della Duck: Her Voice Actress had starred in a Live TV show where she payed a member of the BAU (Huge hint to what show it is)
So I feel extremely bad for Della Like REALLY bad, but I would like to say something most people forget She did this herself, she messed up real badly She left her children to go on a space ship joyride She never deserved this but she ain't no angel

I wouldn't say she's "no angel", because that implies that she knowingly did something malicious with the intent of hurting others around her or smth. She didn't know the ship would crash. I think she either didn't think it through properly, or just... Didn't consider everything, or was blinded by excitement or eagerness. This is probably my favorite episode of the show. Learning about Della and seeing her struggles was so tragic, and yet also so inspiring! I get teary-eyed whenever she talks to her sons on the videos.

@@equinoxomega3600 I meant I liked the last season _besides_ her.
Though I had the opposite issue with her: they wrote her too perfect, she never really felt like a real person.
NO IM LATE BUT SHE DID IT SHE FINALLY DID IT! IM SL HAPPY
I think Della's the counterpart of Rainbow Dash
Hey everyone quick question does the ducktales series have uncut reactions on patreon cause from here on out I can’t miss a single second of a reaction?
Oh she really lets Gyro have it in later episodes
Okay but disregarding the long comment about emotional this episode made me, but doesn't this imply that Della tore her leg off to get out of the wreck?
