I've watched quite a few of your vids and I really like them.I used to train 11 times per week.my schedule was 2 boxing lessons of 1 hour duration for each..6 weight training of around 40 minutes duration for each..3 Shotokan Karate of 2 hours duration for each..I trained for around 16 years and wore my body out..I now have osteoarthritis everywhere.. I've always kept doing my weight training..The Karate and boxing had to stop through pain..But I've been stretching and started my Karate again around 10 months ago and although it's really hard and painful I'm really enjoying it..I was always going on at my students about being precise with their Karate which is why I love your vids..Thank you.Regards David
@@ohmyskill2847 No not always .We warmed up at each lesson and did some cool down at the end.But when I did weights I did not warm up properly at all ..
I'm started at 45 years... it's is very hard to streching and my joint mobility is also not so good.... but day after day will better... after two years later at now i have the blue belt... but my goal is the black. Osu! I just started practicing kyokushin and I’m having a really hard time doing the Uchi hachiji dachi stance. Are there any stretches or exercises I can do to be able to perform that stance? Does it matter if I’m naturally duck footed.
Only warching this cause of insomnia. But it is Interesting. My sensei says, standing to low, is not good. It makes you moving slow. My sensei also says not to position your feet to far fron another. Cause it makes unstable stances - but train to stand low is good, cause there are times you have to position low to strike.
Hi, Could I just ask, could you clear up the meaning of 'jiyu-dachi' for me please? I see the term banded about a fair bit but struggle to see what is actually going on. I usually see it done as a 'not-quite' zenkutsu dachi.' Thanks (Your videos are fantastic by the way, thank you.)
Hello, I wanted to try to practice karate, but I have only kyokusin style near where I'am. Would you say that kyokushin style is fine? Or i should somethink else?
@@arpasdairy I left Karate and started Taekwondo around 3-4 months ago, still on Yellow belt lol. (in the gap between leaving karate and starting Taekwond I was doing horse-riding lessons.

The translations of the names are great! I have a dictionary, but it is so hard to find a lot of karate terms in a general dictionary :-)
Thank you - this is very thorough. There is another stance which seems to be used a lot - a “cat stance”.

In all of these stances which is the defensive and offensive?
Ive seen several people referring to training as "playing" and to themselves as "players", does someone have any idea why?
