I love how you emphasize the tiny little details of the kata. It really helps since I'm currently learning this kata. The small details you highlighted really help me improve my understanding of Saifa.

As a beginner or goju ryu recently here in Japan. Between yourself and the "Miyagi DOJO" channel.. it really helps..I see it straight from Higaonna sensei and then a breakdown from yourself.. it's life changing. I regularly practice sanchin and gekisai dai ichi after work by the river here.. once I perfect those I will surely move up to this... I hear that this kata is deceptively difficult and I can see that.. there are complex movements in here but that's the joy of karate for me... Understanding body movement and freedom..
Great videos. Please keep it up 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

    • @GojuRyuKarateCentre

Truly that is the best mindset - I always laugh when a blue belt tells me they're "done" with Saifa. Saifa still has many secrets for those willing to dig.
Ché tries to honour Sensei Chinen's memory every day - it was truly a great loss to the karate world. If only we had had more time with him. I'm so sorry I never got to meet him, but I can see his genius live on in my husband's work and in the books he wrote. A complicated man, like all great karate men, but nonetheless the fact that his karate survives all over the world is proof of his legacy.
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment!
      Best wishes,
      Zoë

You have created a veritable library of Goju Ryu knowledge that's for sure. Being the Sensei of a small humble club in the middle of England has left us with some gaps in knowledge or misunderstandings passed down from my Sensei to us.
When we get higher up the tree is is less easy to find inspiration from outside sources, certainly a lasting inspiration. I have always maintained karate is a Lifetime of study, at times I have doubted this but after seeing just a fraction of your videos and hearing your thoughts and experiences, I still have much to practice 🙏🏻

      Hello!
Thank you so much for watching and commenting 🙇🏻‍♀️
We have videos for the whole Goju Ryu kata syllabus except Superempei, and from other styles, we only have Naifunchin.
      So our videos cover:
Geki Sai Dai Ichi and Ni
      Saifa
      Seiyunchin
      Shisochin
      Sanseru
      Seipai
      Kururunfa
      Seisan
      Hope this helps!

      Hello!
In our syllabus, we start to introduce the basics from orange, but students are not graded on it until green and blue belt. It takes a while to get the basics of this kata right!

I do have one question your Katas are sport and not traditional??
I ask this a a former practitioner of.
( Sensei DON WARRENER 4 th dan I believe in 1985 ish) Hamilton Ontario Canada.
I ask as I'm trying to rebuild my former knowledge.
I joined the military in 89 and was never able to follow a consistent path of training..

      I like being a traditionalist

    • @GojuRyuKarateCentre
      @GojuRyuKarateCentre  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

We only focus on traditional Goju Ryu kata - in fact we aren't part of the local tournament scene at all! It takes so much time to focus on getting a kata truly right, after all. As you go through our kata videos, you'll get a feel for how we approach kata, as well as our lineage 🙇🏻‍♀️
