You know, there was a time I would have went after box sets. But looking at GB 1984, GB II 1989, the DVD box of the REAL GHOSTBUSTERS, and AL, I find I won't watch DVD extras. Oh, I might be interested. But these days, you can go on TH-cam and look at what you're curious about. I don't find myself needing to own the DVD EXTRAS once I have seen them on YT. No. 4K is not something I need once I have DVD. Sorry.
Totally understand. Many people are happy with DVDs and that’s awesome! That’s why the DVD format is still the most popular. I do like a lot of bonus features myself. Especially having them all in one place. I just like learning about the film making process but I know I’m unique. But anyway you enjoy movies is great!
@@megamikethemovieman Yea. I think we're all to some extent victims of the digital age. Sometimes I watch a film or episode of something I already have on TH-cam. Mainly because I can use my Chromebook. I know you like 4K and special editions. But I just don't see it lasting long against the convenience of DVD and TH-cam. But that's just my opinion. 🤷♂️
Great point about rights issues. That's a big killer of potential box sets. I love the big steelbook sets but they're costly. My wish is that when they give us sets they stop using flimsy cardboard. The boutiques do a pretty good job with this, but the studios are really inconsistent.
Ya I definitely don’t like the flimsy cardboard feel. Studios are all over the place with quality. Boutiques do often a wonderful job but then they are very costly.
Boutique Labels are killing it with boxsets right now, but studios definitely need to step it up, I do agree there. Sony still does awesome work though and Paramount tries sometimes, so at least we have that.
That was a good point you brought up. Directors work w/different studios. Getting the license and other legal issues can be a headache🤕. I would like to own a box set of Indiana Jones & the first 3 Star Wars movies.
Not as many boxed sets? Are you serious bro? Just this last 2 weeks I've ordered: 1-Enter The Video Store:Empire Of Screams 2-Mexico Macabre 3-Toxic Avenger Blu-Ray 4-Toxic Avenger 4K 5-Danza Macabra 6-Black Emmanuelle 7-Mexican Gothic 8-Villages Of The Damned 9-Bollywood Horror I've already received a couple of them. I spent like $1,000 in all!😭 And you want more! LOL!😂 And I think there's a handful more on the way. The trouble with these kind of boxed sets is that they're usually limited, 3,000 or 5,000 and FOMO kicks in lol!😆 Yeah it sucks that the Rocky and Superman boxed sets are not really complete. And even though I bought it that Halloween 4K box set was a joke the 3 worst Halloweens and the most expensive. I held off on buying the years old Halloween Blu-Ray boxed set because I thought once the new trilogy ended they would release a boxed set with ALL of the Halloweens on 4K. But did they? Of course not! So I bought the 4Ks separately. But bro seriously you want even more boxed sets? I love them but for me sometimes there's too many at the same time like now probably because it's summer. You can't imagine the amount of Blu-Ray boxed sets I've got. Anyway good topic and cool video Mike!👉😃👈
I just want more consistent quality from the studio box sets. Boutiques have been doing a wonderful job recently. But for studio 4K boxsets in particular, the quality can just be all over the place with still an expensive price tag.
@@megamikethemovieman yeah the mainstream movie boxed sets are sometimes not as good as the boutique labels but that's more the studios trying to be cheap and charge a lot. Oh well it's the burden us collectors must bear to keep physical versions alive!🙏

Good point. I would like complete sets.
Yep Boxsets can be awesome if done well.

Ya studio quality is all over the place. Very inconsistent quality from studios at best. The boutiques are great but then are often very expensive.
Good point mate.... Good video.
Thank you so much for watching movie friend. What do you think of boxsets?

Me too.
Cutting corners is when companies try to make more profit.
Box sets are good if you like the series.
Ya and there’s probably a balance between quality and price. It’s just all over the place at the moment from the studios.
