When I played Civ V as a kid, I was hopelessly hooked(the UI design, unit art, the glorious brass-filled music, the technologies and city expansions) but couldn’t shake the feeling that some things were missing The era-centric music which Humankind looks to be bringing is definitely a huge check mark from me, I look forward to exploring and discovering what I love in this game too :’)
Now Humankind just needs unit replies in native languages too for full immersion ! (sadly, y Zhou speaking english to me just breaks the immersion the music soundtrack created for me).
@@guilhermesavian5445 To be fair the SFX sounds are so awesome as well that I don't pay as much attention to the soundtrack as I should either. I never thought I'd be listening to a 4x game soundtrack for fun but here I am 😂 The progression from neolithic to modern makes the game so immersive and exciting. Some of the tracks honestly feels like boss music and it makes your civilization feel so epic. Incredible work!!!
@@Emanuele246gi two different genres but if you have to suggest any civ, I think Civ5 is better than Civ6 specially with "brave new world", I have around 3k hours in Civ5 and close to 500 in civ6, imo both civ4 and 5 are better games than civ6 for a multitude of reasons. Amongst the Mighty perfectly captures the feel of the industrial revolution. I'm not a music person, so I don't really know the terminology, but up until the time that song plays, all of the music kinda has the same feel to it. Amongst the Mighty immidiately tells you something is different. It's... rythm? is just so different from all the prior pieces you get used to when you play. It's got this energy to it that screams "rapid change." But at the same time, it's got elements that link it to the music you would have gotten used to. At the beginning it uses the lovely vocals, as if the old culture is trying to find its way in this new environment, and then the fast paced into immediately slows down and we get a section that sounds much more like the earlier music (the longer draws on the strings, the woodwinds, the vocals go back to how they normally behave), like the some of the world hasn't quite been touched by the winds of change, or perhaps as some effort to hold onto the past by those caught in the midst of it, but then there it is again. Progress won't be stopped. Can't be stopped. It picks up again. This new world that we find ourselves in that completely uprooted everything before it is here to stay. But then, at the end, the same energy is there, but it feels less chaotic, like people have come to understand it and accept it. Some of the past has been integrated into the present.
I really like Eudaimones 47:18 :) it’s outro is so deep I can’t even explain it how happy it makes me. This game has really good musicians and the composer did a hell of a job
The music with choir that gives me goosebumps when playing the game man. Dang what a great history game, makes me really put in that some role then and look at us. We're here behind the laptop. Can't believe it all happened, and we're living now our life in peace.
The game itself is hard to take a break because it's easy to lose track of the time. Now you put on one of the best soundtracks I've seen, the breaks doesn't exist or you do it with headphones on.
Arnaud you ruined my spotify wrapped it's nothing but this soundtrack and it only came out 2 months ago. I demand you continue making music as long as you POSSIBLY CAN. I love your style and your arrangements.
So glad I preordered the game a while back. Definitely worth it. Amazing game + amazing soundtrack = playing too much and ignoring my coursework for class.

Oblivion, Skyrim, The Witcher 3, KIngdom Come, Civ V and VI, Assassins Creed II, Cuphead, Cyberpunk, Detroit BH, Hotline Miami and this goes to my list of the best game soundtracks ever created. Folk instruments + Choir + Orchestra = BEST GAME OST AWARD 2021.
Its great just one small sidenote,I played all Civ games and the best music, by far, is from Civ 4. It directed me into classical music and I don't think I would got into pure choral music without it.
the end of 'Videte Gigantem' and 'Dues Ora Movet', and then the build-up song 'Mercury'. Wow. Could be the best pieces of music I have heard in a video game (since 1990)
Perfect music to work and to write to. I am amazed at the artisan quality of these soundtracks. I feel fortunate we live in a world with both Amplitude Studies and SuperGiant exists at the same time.
Thanks Ivanna! You have all the links in the description, but here it is for Apple Music/iTunes : music.apple.com/fr/album/humankind-original-game-soundtrack/1578911803
An awesome soundtrack by any standards, but works particularly well for this game. The way the music fits perfectly when you choose a new culture, giving you a sense of progression through the game and keeping things fresh. I tip my hat to all those involved.
I'm sometimes wondering; why Denis Villeneuve didn't take Mr. Roy (perhaps along with Paul Ruskay, who did soundtrack to Homeworld) to make Dune soundtrack? Everybody in cinematography industry in US seems to be too reliant on Hans Zimmer... :P Anyway - always good to hear the top notch quality music, even in game being (finally) a worthy contender against the Civilization. :D
As good as Amplitude's 4x games can be, I'm at a point where I've listened more to the games OSTs, and just can't get enough any of them. I hope G4F continues making this quality of works for a long time coming.
I absolutely love this soundtrack!! Haven't had a chance to listen to it all yet, but does this include each of the different culture's songs? It doesn't seem that way but it would be amazing to hear them too. Amazing job by Arnaud Roy, I can't imagine how much work went into composing all of these! Thank you so much!
The 'citera' at the end of Oracles is absolutely masterful. It's an old Hungarian instrument, which means it probably came from Mongolia originally. It makes my soul want to hunt down people from horseback armed with an early shortbow.

I've sunk hundreds of hours into this game, and it confuses me so much to find out how little people actually still play the game (800 regularly), since its pretty much civ 6 but so much better in every single way.
I came back to play it recently. I think the problem was a rocky start. A lot of people, included me, were allured by the outstanding idea and art behind the game, but left after finding the execution was swallow. Now going back to the game I think it is really fun, and the game has been explored a little bit more.
