    Black parade has a reputation of being a more pop album with more catchy hooks and melodies. Three cheers as a whole is more an emo rager album. Like three cheers would be played at a mosh pit, while Black Parade could be played on the radio. It’s common for MCR fans to like Three Cheers more just because it was seen as more controversial and experimental. IMHO they are both great for different reasons.

      totally agree. That said, Three Cheers is definitely my number one

      @@lavenderllamamusic me too, this one has so much emotion and really set the stage for what they would do later. This is one of my fav albums of all time. I’ve seen them preform twice and these songs just hit different for me.

    The way i see it: Three Cheers is the album that many hardcore MCR fans would consider to be their number one. It's such a wild ride and Gerard's manic vocal delivery throughout the album, just one big descent into madness and despair. It's beautifully done.
    The Black Parade is definitely more for the casual fan, the theater kid, and the MCR fans who just got into them at a time by discovering Welcome to the Black Parade. It's better for the masses
    While Three Cheers is for the core fanbase, it's MCR finding their signature sound and nailing it. _This_ is My Chemical Romance! The Black Parade was MCR just expanding and experimenting further and reaching their magnum opus, digging into their Queen/Bowie/Smashing Pumpkins influences and making it their own

      I swear i was the only one who loved black parade when it came out. I bought three cheers when it came out. I was like 13 at the time. Loved it as well but when Black parade came out, idk i felt more mature liking it lol

      really love this reaction/discussion! i do think this is an album that really grows on you over time, especially as you look into the lyrics and the loose storyline/themes. it took me a while to vibe w three cheers, but the craftmanship and insane energy and creativity fully won me over

    I think a lot miss the concept of this album. It's a great concept album just like The Black Parade. I do believe that you have to listen to this album more than once to catch on to the album. Once you know the concept it makes perfect sense. Imo it's a better album than the black parade. 💏

    • @areakaextras9025
      @areakaextras9025 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I’m correct, the album’s concept was supposed to be more fleshed out and noticeable, but due to personal issues involving production, it ended up being more about Gerard and Mikey’s Grandma.

      Came here to talk about this. I think a lot of the fan base who discovered MCR through the Black Parade totally missed that Revenge was also a narrative concept album, if not as grandiose. That said, it's rooted in more genre specific influences compared to the Black Parade, and so was probably less musically accessible to as broad of an audience as the Black Parade (this is not a criticism of either album btw, I'm a huge fan of all of their work). I always listen to this whole album in a sitting rather than cherry picking songs. Go into it with the idea that it's a rock opera form of the coolest R rated movies of the nineties and just try to imagine the imagery in the lyrics. Gives a very different experience than just approaching it as a rock album.

    I understand why it'd be a bit less palatable going from The Black Parade to this album! MCR's original fanbase was made up of people who are more into this hardcore sound, the first album was more grungey and even fans of that album were disappointed at how "mainstream" this one sounded! I don't think this album had less bangers, but more, that it was pretty much all bangers which can lessen their impact if you're not really into that sorta thing. Imo *my* favourite MCR album but TBP is definitely their best all-rounder :)

    • @lavenderllamamusic
      @lavenderllamamusic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i don't think grungey is the best way to describe Bullets, but more so just _raw_
      Bullets was rough and raw, elements of post-hardcore and piercing punk with very emo lyrical content.
      Three Cheers is my favorite too, above TBP for me

    • @sp0ngeb00b7
      @sp0ngeb00b7 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lavenderllamamusic uhhhh thank you for clearing that up but I was fully aware, it’s just easier language for someone to understand without over explaining :) “Grungey” to people who usually don’t listen to heavier rock generally just means sludgier/fuzzier production so I just thought it was appropriate to describe Bullets! I’m a thorough fan of grunge and post hardcore/classic emo as seperate genres, and also personally I’d rank the albums Three Cheers > TBP > Danger Days > Bullets, how about you?

  • @KylieIsOverIt
    @KylieIsOverIt 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Personally, I love this album, top to bottom. But I love heavier music. The Black Parade has all of my least favorite My Chem songs, but I can see why people prefer it if they like more poppy music. The musical highs on that album are very high and they demonstrated progression, maturity and inventiveness, for sure. It's fun watching you get hyped, regardless.

    I think musically all the songs are good on here, but musically there are a few that are too much alike so some people might get bored or it’s too much of the same thing going on... if that makes sense.
