To add more to my grievances around how Eric and Shelly were killed, in the comic and original movie they weren't just murdered but were completely brutalized. Here, they suffocate via plastic bag asphyxiation. Wow, even their demise is underwhelming.
It's just so clichéd. First, showing enough of all three acts that it feels like I don't need to watch it. But that's just a bad excessive trailer edit. As for the content of the trailer, also not great. The cinematography is flat and uninspired. The color grading is both oversaturated and flat in different spots. It looks like a 2000s early digital feature that used its color timing to try to mask the budget shortfall. It has the generic setpiece finalé. The action looks like a hundred other movies most of the time. The lines are terrible. They're unoriginal and corny. "You were so brilliantly broken." Sorry but cringe. "I killed you. You did." That's placeholder dialogue that made it in because they couldn't come up with a witty line. I guarantee it is. Guarantee. This just looks generic, uninspired, and derivative. I just don't like the trailer and I don't expect much from the movie either. That way either I will be pleasantly surprised or it will suck and I'll have been prepared. Seems like the most logical thing to do
The first 2/3 of the movie is gonna be Eric and Shelly meeting in rehab, running away from rehab, then doing lots of drugs and having sex. He doesn't put the face paint on until the end of the movie. I agree, whyyyyy is there a spirit world? There's a spirit world in Avatar: The Last Airbender, but it makes sense in ATLA. A spirit world doesn't make sense here. Eric trying to kill a bunch of forgettable goons to save Shelly's soul from hell doesn't make sense. This movie looks awful, it's just a cash grab. They could have just re-release the film in theaters, they could have made a ton of money that way.
That part where he shoots through himself to get the guy at the back instantly reminded me of an amazing anime called Daily Life with Monster Girls where Zombina unloads unto her boar attacker and then complains that she's gonna gain weight with all the bullets in her body being a zombie. Lmao😂
Slight correction Because I have the memory of a goldfish, I forgot Michael Wincott's name and when I searched "Crow - Top Dollar" the search gave me a completely DIFFERENT Top Dollar from "Wings of the Crow"...so yeah, wrong actor for the WRONG Top Dollar.
The thing is, history of cinema has shown over and over that you can put the best actor(s) of a generation in a movie, but if the story, plot and characters themselves are poorly made, at best that actor/actress is only going to make more evident the lack of quality in them. They can't make a movie great by themselves.
Well, that's the thing about Hollywood. They look at what they have but they don't look at what's available. Like you said, there are 27 people who were brought back by Crows. I didn't even know that. But Hollywood is so scared to use them because that requires reading and caring for the source material. And let's be honest, they don't care for that. Even the Marvel movie and TV Show writers say they never read the Marvel comics which is despicable. Anyway, cool video. I'm subscribing.
At the end of the day, opinions are just opinions. Though I'm not fond of the reboot, I'll just watch it with an open mind. At least I still have the original in LD and 4K Director's Cut to enjoy if the reboot turns out bad.
Though The Crow, 1994, movie took liberties with the story and characters, it kind of failed at the gothic undertone. The first movie make it an overtone and created the "Devils Night's" event to try to create more tension. While both. Graphic Novel and the Movie, have their strengths, many fans argue the graphic novel edges out the film. With its depth of storytelling and exploration of dark themes, the book offers a richer experience. Lionsgate's adaptation is said to be a "visceral reinterpretation" of the original, aiming to resonate with both long-time fans of the book and newcomers to the saga. So, I will set my reservation on this movie on neutral. But as this is a Lionsgate Film the budget will be low (in the ballpark of 50 million) and was filmthe physical shooting locations spanned between Prague and Munich, bringing a diverse European flair to the movie's backdrop. Which is why this does not have a Detroit feel. FYI the original book never had a location outside of a gritty urban location.
Yes, him and Shelly are recovering addicts in this movie. I am one myself and i absolutely hate this decision as it betrays who Eric and Shelly are as people. The short hair, tattoos, lack of city aesthetic, terrible outfit (or lack or), what seem to be lame and boring villains, and the fact that they basically showed us the entire shitty movie in the trailer have completely turned me off of this and i won’t even watch it for shits and giggles. Just like i haven’t seen the Edward Furlong Crow movie.
this remake looks like it was made in 2016, it just sucks because the original was so gothic, grungy and just so perfect this reboot is so sound cloud rapper basic action flick
Eric and Shelly (the new ones) behave more like horny teenagers discovering sex for the first time, than a romantic couple. You felt the, as you put it, poetic and romance between them in the flashbacks Eric has throughout the film.
Eric Draven is more of a cut, slender, effeminate character. Him being all built and buff is lame. Also, the music in the original film is so iconic and really captures the Gothic darkness of The Crow comic. This new versions music so far is Way outta touch with this story's theme.
i mean... Eric himself has already looked like a Goth Joker from the very beginning, so i just think the insult falls flat 🤷 it's better than Edward Furlong and no, i'm not EVER gonna let that go. as Peter Griffin from Family Guy of all things once said, THAT HAPPENED AND WE ALL LET IT HAPPEN. the remake doesn't look all bad to me, i just think they showed a little too much. i saw the original back in february 29th of this year because i heard a remake was coming, this just gives me more faith that bill skarsgard will be fantastic.
I dont even compare it to the original. Just watching it as a trailer for a movie, it just feels cringy all over. Then when you start comparing it, well ya... not great at all

Eric looks like a rejected joker.
No one will ever touch the lead that Brandon Lee gave us RIP.
It cant rain all the time.
We live in the golden age of media corporations. Every piece of media is a just a potential cash grab. Not an art, uninspired, banal.
Let's play it safe by making a sequel to an IP. But let's change everything that makes it what that is.
Sounds like a modern movie to me.
I think they should have done another chapter to the overall story, not a shitty remake of an amazing classic

Am I the only one who thought Eric in this movie looks like a goth joke from that shitty suicide squad movie
Oh yeah, they 100% Leto'd the crap out of him
Man, I think EVERYBODY sees exactly that.
Brandon died making this movie and they just couldn't leave his memory alone :( So cruel.

I have so much to complain about as far as this movie goes. The Crow is my favorite movie character ever
The tattoos don’t bother me. He looks how everyone looks nowadays.
The second part of your comment describes why people dont like them.
Omg, the nipple tattoo is cringe.

Agreed 100%. They went full Leto Joker with this.
I disagree, Skarsgard is a great actor and I think he can pull it off.
I mentioned Skarsgard could kill it as the character, I just think the script might sink what could have been an excellent performance.

They are crapping all over Brandon Lee's death too as far as I'm concerned

It looks so generic even the crow city of angels salvation and wicked prayer had their own distinct characters story style and tone.

The supernatural aspect reminds me of the crow 2 but that was more voodoo
Or the fourth film which essentially featured The Devil...really REALLY wish I was joking 😅
that CGI bird is Trash. The OG is the only one with a real Bird. Magic the Raven.

I have a
Feeling it's going to be like the fourth movie where the intentions were there and even the story was okay, but the execution was trash.
Sounds accurate
@@kyletheotakureviews2424 Behind the scenes on the fourth movie everyone had the best of intentions trying to pay homage to the first
I basically agree with your take. Ill probably watch online while reading manwha at the same time 😏
Yeah I wasn't impressed either and I was called toxic for it like the Halo show is trash
Your analysis was well said. I also felt the same looks rushed and not creative at all.
Yikes that’s sad
Dude looks like Florida Joker, I’ll pass and wait for the 4K blu ray of the original dropping in may
Alrighty, 100% adding THAT to my wishlist later

I will say the aesthetic is an acquired taste and it can be argued it's a product of it's time. Personally I think it adds to it's charm 😁
