    I'm having a really tough time with my wardrobe because I love my 80's pastel clothing but I feel that mostly black outfits allow for more self expression, especially when experimenting with silhouettes. Plus I feel really good in black clothing, but I always end up buying pastel cloths because they make me happy to look at.
    I just don't know how to style pastels in the same way that I style blacks. Also I feel that I have to buy so much more clothing when it's colorful because X item matches Y item but doesn't match Z item so now I need Q item to go with Z item but flippin' Q item goes with nothing else! It's so frustrating.

  • @carter5770
    @carter5770 2 ปีที่แล้ว +26

    this feels kind of vague and while maybe not meaningless I didn't really come away with an idea of what "minimalist" clothing would look like. All of the definitions felt recursive, a timeless wardrobe is built out of minimalist clothes that can be worn regularly without people noticing while still looking nice. You never really define what minimalist clothes are though, are regular bluejeans timeless? what about a pair of corduroys? all of the models and companies you link to seem like they're geared more towards one specific style of minimalism with most of them selling slacks as their primary form of bottom ware for example. are slacks timeless then? I feel like your content has a ton of potential and I feel like I could learn a lot from you but I would appreciate you going into further detail on the tinier details like this in future videos.

    Very interested and wanting to get into fashion/minimalism, but the overwhelming aspect is more of where do i start looking for these clothes? how do i know a good quality brand/designer as opposed to getting tricked into something that will lose its value or end up being poor quality overall

    • @fashionelitist
      @fashionelitist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I recommend researching into certain brands what materials they use and or where it’s manufactured in. If you have a chance to ever feel the garment in hand that’s always an option. Buying second hand designer is always best due to being able to low ball and purchase for so low. Quality can be material used, construction of garment, and where it was manufactured in.

    I've been thrifting since I'm 10 and I love to waste my time on cheap clothing that I don't know what would do, it would melt on the laundry? It would live forever?
    We don't know.
    If you don't have use of certain clothes on your closet, get rid of it. Donate, gift, resell. The extra space would let you SEE better your current clothes.
    A step ahead is to modify your clothes. Not for everyone.

    I've just stuck to my own look since high-school. I'd consider it to be a mix of casual and formal. I like to dress nice and presentable but with without looking like I'm going to a funeral. It consists of loose to regular fit jeans. Buttoned shirts, flannels, long sleeve t-shirts. Denim jackets, bomber jackets and overcoats. I love wearing turtlenecks as it both looks good with my jackets and keeps me warm. And finally simple sneakers or boots. I top off my look with a flat cap if I'm feeling more formal today. I've recently got into jewelry and a silver or gold chain helps give my outfits some more flavor.

    My problems with the video if ya care to know.
    1. I don't believe you should straight out of the gate buy your foundations to your wardrobe. How will you know what you like and cuts and materials that you enjoy. Definitely go to op shops and play with that.
    2. Basics don't have to be boring or not memorable. I feel if this was the case you wouldn't be engaging in fashion in a fun way. Definitely try different silhouettes. I'd remember a perfect pair of black trousers with an interesting cut.

    The video had some decent tips but honestly it was 20 minutes of being told to buy more expensive clothing and void fast fashion..... thats cool but how do I build a timeless wardrobe ?? what are the basics of a wardrobe foundation?? what exactly is considered minimalist?? this is essentially the same as the 1.0 vid imo

    • @fashionelitist
      @fashionelitist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      How to build a timeless wardrobe: buying basics that are rooted in minimal pieces which are basics, minimalism can be easily looked up and can be seen in brands like olive clothing, acne studios, add Seoul. Minimalism like said in the video has no graphics or prints it’s “basic” but I also mentioned the video that key details can make minimal pieces more elevated but still stay in the minimal genre.
      Basics of a wardrobe as stated in the video should be started with the key pieces: shirts & pants are the key items to stay with. There are different types of minimalism but as stated in the video it’s all typically under one veil which are pieces that don’t garner attention Google is also a great tool or Instagram, I also gave a lot of examples if you saw throughout the video. Also I mentioned in the video about checking sales which lowers items price tags down to the 40-60 range and I also mentioned about low balling using second hand websites! Hope this helps!

      I stated it in the video! You need a wardrobe foundation before you start investing into bigger items/styles since most people finding their style will build a whole wardrobe around a style that they won’t stick to and waist money that way. Building in timeless pieces that are “minimalistic” allows you to keep those items for the long term and are interchangeable with most styles you might get into!
