It didnt, but i still need glasses

I use to have that chart memorized, always wondered why they never changed it.
Because they lazy to reprint the new one...
It depends on the eye doctor. Many eye doctors now use digitized high-res displays, and are able to put any letters or numbers they want on the electric chart. Even the so-called "gold-standard" ETDRS charts, which are different from the "Big E" chart, can be memorized.
When it comes to studies of human visual acuity, the International Council of Ophthalmology requires the use of the Landolt Ring. It is based on the same principle as the letter charts, but it uses only a single shape, which is a circle with a gap (like the letter C) presented in various orientations. The person being tested has to correctly identify whether the gap is pointed up, down, left, or right. It is most commonly used in Japan and Europe. The International Council of Ophthalmology considers the Landolt Ring to be the purest research standard, and requires all studies of visual acuity to be calibrated against it.
but why. glasses is for you it's not about to satisfy doctor. letters there to help you understand how sharp is your vision.
@@armandconiglio9620 that is because letters are shit. Our brain is able to recognise them much better and then when you look onto light & buildings it is all wrong.
@@lolerie Yes, definitely. The letters can even be recognized below the resolving limit of the eye, because of the exterior form of the letters. My favorite vision chart is the Tumbling-E, because of of its grating pattern and the fact that astigmatic errors manifest when looking at the E's different orientations.

But what ever you say there is no treatment of myopia i am a boy my age is 13 and i am suffering from myopia since 9 years. But i feel sad and more sad coz why i Lost my god gifted eye
look for the biochemistry of the photoreceptors of the eyes and you'll be amazed that is the same with the molecular components of the carrots. Anyways there are so many different types of nearsightedness so eating carrots cannot magically correct it. It's like saying vitamin E is good for the skin so it can magically eliminate acne.

@@nestorenriquez3284 I'm not saying that carrots can correct myopia at all, but rather improve the quality of your sight in dark environments. So it helps cope with night blindness
@@adolinesiam2007 I have reversed myopia from -2 both eyes to -1 both eyes.Its posible. I have taken triphala , amla , eye exercises to get -.25D reduction per year. So it took me 3-4yrs to go from -2 to -1
I wear glasses and have never seen this before. The "better or worse" part of the exam my doctor has always used a slide of the eye chart or the actual eye chart on the wall opposite his chair.

I was also intrigue at that hot-air balloon when I went to an eye check-up. It is my first time and I am 24. The image I saw is a field with that balloon in the middle, the optalmologist seems to adjust something so i see the balloon became blur or sharp as it tries my eyes to focus on which image it will go clear. (Sorry for my english btw).
After that, she wrote something and proceed to get my eye measurement. Then found out I have myopic astigmatism.. that's the reason why I always feel dizzy, having headaches, and having a hard time seeing from far distance.
Now I know why
that's unfortunate, astigmatism still can be corrected using glasses though. So always remember to wear your glasses when you wake up every morning
haha me too, i am 15 years old and my optometrist told me i developed astigmatism and myopia through my childhood. i will be choosing glasses later today :]

IT REALLY is not. First of all cylenders must be added first, they usually are not. Second of all letters are a bad test. Try building or some scenery. Or even just letters on a book.

Around age 50, that was when my prescription on one eye changed enough that it warranted new exam. I went online to order the glasses but I started to notice that the visions through the new eyeglasses from both eyes do not line up. My left vision becomes dominant and wiped out the right vision while my right pupil would ‘cross’ to the left as if in an attempt to focus. How can I tell if it’s my eyes that’s at fault or my glasses or the prescription?

Prescription probably it doesnt cost much I advice you to check with another eye doctor,
Actually some eye doctors in big hospitals just delegate the eye test to Lower people or Inexperienced personnel and then give you over prescribed or underprescribed glasses, properly talk with the test taker and ask him to give a slightly underprescribed glasses in case of myopia. Like its ok if there is a little blur on the last line .

I went to the 1st ent doctor because im having headaches and put me snellen chart, left eye is 20/20 and my right eye is 18/20 so he prescribe me eyeglasses because it was eye strain. The headache is gone but i got sinus pressure so i went to another ent doctor for 2nd opinion he put me autorefractor he said my eyes okay no eye grade and check all my eyes, nose, throat, neck. I have sinusitis. Because the 1st ent doctor didnt check my nose ear and throat. The 2nd ent doctor gave me meds for sinusitis and nasolfo nasal spray im better. I also stop wearing the eyeglasses for a week. But i put it back im wearing it now for 2 weeks cause when im looking at far distance without the glasses sometimes it makes me dizzy and my left eye sometime i see eye floaters. Sometimes i experience dry eyes. Should i believe the 1st ent doctor or the 2nd ent doctor? Thanks

How much can be the difference between reading shown by autorefractor and snellen chart letters read with help of glasses inserted in phoropter in incrememts of 0.25D?
It has been 10D for me but not on the same day. Part of the difference for me includes dry eyes, over accommodation without glasses and convergence insufficiency.
When I was in class 7th I wanted to get rid of my glasses
But today I am 19 and I wish my vision could be corrected with glasses but it can't because I have keratoconus.

If you spend a lot of time reading or in from of a pc you may need to remove the spasm of accomodation which can be big. That is done with atropine or phenylephrin. Then you need to measure your accomodation and use beta memetics to increase it. And then you can use contact lenses for some time to stabilise your vision, usually second month contacts are correct.
the letters I read don't get randomized and I memorize the letters.

Now, I use my own Snellen and Test Lenses.
That is how I got my 20/20 vision back, from 20/50.

I have PD VALUE of R 30 and L 31.5 But My glasses PD value is 31.5 each will it be a problem??
You’re good. Any variance between 1 to 2 millimeters in a PD is deemed, in general, an acceptable measurement. However, this depends on the individual. I’ve seen some people with a PD of 33 in the right eye and a 30.5 in the left. What is more concerning is if a patient isn’t properly measured, and the PD is way off, then this can cause distortion in your vision, double vision, nausea, headaches, and prism. But 31.5 in each eye is fine.

You need to freeze accommodation to get accurate measurement.
If you use an Auto Refractor.
Use a trial lens kit for accuracy.
Exactly, I work as a software developer snd every time I use a auto refractor it says -1.5, but when the doctor freezes my accomodation it is close to 0
@G E T R E K T Exactly, this is why so many people end up highly myopic. I see poor 7-9 years old children wearing mild prescriptions of -1 while usind the mobile phone and reading. They will sadly end up with prescriptions of -6 as adults because the optometrists tell their parents to wear the glasses full time 😢 12 years ago I ordered three trial lenses kit to check what is the minimum prescription I need to be able to see perfect at night for driving when I am tired. It was -0.75 for my left eye and -0.5 for my right eye instead of -1.5, when I am relaxed -0.5 is enough. I ordered the glasses on zenni website with -0.5 and only wear them at night when I drive. When I read and use my phone I use lately +0.5 glasses, I feel my eyes much more relaxed and maybe I can fix my accomodation stress 🙂

Yes that can happen, because the image is no more than 18 inches from your face which can be really close for some people without glasses on. I have the same problem but you will find that opticians disregard this.

NO!!! Even some opticians will admit this.
I remember my mom told me to eat raw carrot for a year because she "heard" a child was magically cured out of myopia 😂😂😂 she also purposely undercooked carrots which made them taste bad. I hate carrots ever since.

If green appears clearer, then it means that you need more minus power in your prescription.

Re Hot air Balloon test - the video totally fails to say how it measures your eye. Projecting an image into it, does nothing itself.
It always makes me embarrassed getting new prescriptions knowing damn well im failing every test

Probably way too late to ask this but is there no test in a regular eye test to test for astigmatism because it seems that it's contributing to my bad vision and wasn't looked for whatsoever
I thought testing for astigmatism is a standard procedure when getting your eyes tested? I do have astigmatism and the optometrist tested for it during the Snellen Test. I had to look at circles somehow and tell them how distorted they looked. Also whether the image gets sharper or not.

In Turkiye, our images are more realistic but the same ones anyway! Especially the house one lolol i’ve been usşng glasses since i was 7 so the eye doctor is like my second home dude. I just know whats gonna happen everytime so the doctors don’t even need to tell me what to do.
Oh it doesn't. For me difference between objective test can be anything between 1 and 10D. The last time that happened I was treated straight out like I was lying.

I never been eye dr.Pluss I won't be able afford it.same with a physical. I am 41 and never had physical as adult because I can not afford treatment and I would reject all treatments and just let the problem kill me like my friend.he never went to dr. Till he was older.he had diabetic and had no insurance our money pay for treatment he just let him self die.Nowadays,you need a lot money and great insurance for all this and not everyone like me have insurance because I can not afford that pluss I tryed getting state they denied me every time.If my sight changes,well I am screwed lol

I went to doctor a month ago, he prescribed me -.75 on right eye and -1.0 on left eye..
Then I went to shop for ordering eyeglass, I also took the eye test there and it turned out -1.25 on both eyes, things were sharp as hell, perfectly clear.
After wearing that glass for some times my eyes felt little sensitive.. so I went to another doctor again.. then he prescribed me -1.0 on both eyes.. I mean wtf.
What should I do?
Docs generally give -1 or -.5 D lower than your prescribed value besides -1D isn't high enough to cause alarm.Mine is -6D

@@kdreamscosmos4279 dude eye power is variable, I seriously suggest you to watch Jake steiner on you tube and learn more about eyesight, and depnds on doctor but normally they don't undercurrect myopia so alway take glasses -0.25D lesser than prescript or -0.5D too.....
Like if the doc says wear -1 in both eyes then -0.75 glasses would be the optimum
@@kdreamscosmos4279 and dont do close up tasks on the day of eye test, unless you want your eyes to be tired with ciliary spasm and get overcorrected glasses and you with overcorrected glasses we think that because these are new glasses thats why my eyes must be adjusting the headache is good and headache will go away in few days and book your power is increased so much .

I am longsighted and that used to be my experience. The last time I used one I made sure NOT to focus. To be honest, the Snellen chart gives me a better result as my vision is a bit unstable.

Myopia happens by some intense close up work, what is the root cause of astigmatism?
No, it does not. Were you even taught at school? It never happens due to that. It is purely genetical and caused by wrong eyeball form and so cannot be corrected (even by lasers, that is just a hack). Astigmatism can be fully corrected by lasers since that is caused by the part lasers destroy.
@@lolerie how myopia n hyperopia not be corrected? I confirm that I got myopia by doing some closeup work for one hour, 3 years ago. Doctors too blindly follow what is written without having proof, brain and experience
@@Krishna13847 for one hour? Are you trolling? Again, miopia progresses until you are 25 or something. So that has nothing to do with eye strain. There is this thing called spasm of accomodation. You can get 0.25 or more just from morning to evening.
@@lolerie I am not trolling, it was the first time I played a phone game for an hour so much closely. And why it can be corrected? I tried to clear the blur for two years, but the myopia increased and finally consulted a doctor
@@Krishna13847 did he gave you anything agasint accomodation spasm? But 1 hour is nothing. I spend 13 hours behind the screens. So... I got bad accomodation spasm and then fixed it. It is almost as bad as it was 4 years ago now, while it was 2 times worse with spasm.
