- I recently was able to get my hands on the oldest build of Gran Turismo 1 that has ever been discovered, to date. Older than the Test Drive Demo Disc even!
So, how did I acquire it? Well, there's a guy I know who regularly sells pre-release games on eBay. He knows I'm interested in specific game series like GT, so whenever one of his friends / contacts wants to sell something, he lets me know it's available before it goes on eBay, to see if I'd be interested.
This was a weird disc - all it said was 'GT Demo' on it. It also seemed to be an official PAL (European) disc too... I thought it was going to be a demo of the North American version of the game before it arrived, but it actually turned out to be a Japanese build, and the earliest ever found!

GT2 and GT4 fusion jazz are the best especially Mr. 4WD and From The East
Early fusion sound. Trix, T-square, Casiopea and spin offs, spyro gyra, tribal tech, naniwa express, jun fukamachi, lots of great stuff out there and some super elite players. Still new stuff being made with the same style.

@@BLCKCSTLS Of course it is. GT1 was in development for over 5 years. It's just a matter of getting that build if it still exists... at around the same time "Fighting Force" released on PS1. I played the hell out of the demo and the full version (mostly coop with my dad, good times) but never found stuff from preview builds which i had seen printed in magazines. Over 20 years later, it finally surfaced and i got my hands on it.

I have a suspicion that Motor Toon GP 1 might be using early GT codes. In fact, there's also a chance that Motor Toon GP R (the bonus mini game you got after beating Motor Toon GP 2) is a beta GT, before this demo.
I mean, what are the chances that they worked with the physics engine first, and in the meantime, releases a kart racer using these codes, then adapted it to become the 1st GT?

Hooo awesome news! And wow, didn't expect a new build to be found, that's great. Didn't see anything out of the ordinary, besides the lack of countdown sounds (was it that way in Test Drive? maybe.) and the red FINISH text instead of white (again, i forget how it is in TD). I'll be sure to check it out when i get my hands on it in the future :D

I've been watching you for years, now. You're probably the most underrated channel on YT.
This is super interesting to me. I remember reading a preview about GT in CVG back in day, and they claimed the Japanese version was slightly inferior to the PAL release. Watching the video, it's evident that there's some frame drops, especially when going over grass. They also weren't a fan of the jazz music in the Japanese version!

The car colors are so different in this. That blue on the Mitsubishi GTO is neither the Mariana Blue Pearl in the release version or the version in GT2 and the subsequent games after that

What emulator settings did you use? Honestly the basic line graphics and models of the cars are fantastic in this video lol. If they re-released GT2 with car model graphics exactly like this, and just updated things like the environment and performance, I would buy the shit out of that. I bet it would sell like hotcakes.

@@nattila7713 He didn't use the widescreen hack turned on unfortunately (maybe he's using an actual console, and thus couldn't even use widescreen hack at all). For retail GT you can use widescreen hack as well as 60 FPS code, PGXP for perspective correction, and NegCon for adjustable analog controls.

Semi related, is there a version of gran turismo 2 where the 1982 toyota starlet is labeled correctly and the paint colours are accurate? In my pal version its called a turboS despite the kp60 starlet not having a turbo, and the name of the solid green it comes in is called "jetliner silver metallic" guess they made a mistake and the name and colour is actually for the 1987 starlet?
Maybe datamine this disc? I mean if other games AND modes was kinda locked. Or it was on hard drives of developers but they just put part of code in this version. They cant make license part just in some days.
P.s. Yeah. It probably built for presentation on that old built but other code wasn't even put. So no reason to datamine.
