- Out of all the video games out there, Gran Turismo isn't really associated with easter eggs. They're more synonymous with series like Grand Theft Auto. However, over the years, GT's creators have given us a few little easter eggs which haven't really had the coverage online that they probably warrant.
Oddheader and I have teamed up to bring you 20 of the best easter eggs and secrets that the Gran Turismo series has given us over the years!

Hi all. Thank you for the amazing response to this video, and thanks to everyone who submitted new easter eggs for me to check out. Part 2 is already in the works.
Firstly, just to clarify that the narrator of the video is Oddheader. He's a great guy, awesome to work with, and is very knowledgeable about video games and easter eggs. However, he's not a big fan of racing in real life, so he didn't know how to pronounce all the names, e.g. Benetton. Also, some words are said in his regional dialect and accent, so might sound a bit different to how you say the same words. Also, I think we'd all struggle to pronounce some of the Japanese names in this video. Cut him some slack. :)
1. It has been suggested that Nodoka Kinsho may in fact be a woman, not a man. However, I can't find any photos of him/her, so it's hard to say for definite. I did find this Twitter account, which is run by a man, who's an artist, but may not be the one who worked on Gran Turismo: twitter.com/qn_kp
3. To clarify, Kaz's Lancer is an Evo 5, while Tommi Makkinen's real-life Winfield Lancer is an Evo 6.
13. AutoArt actually originates from Germany, rather than Japan.
14. It has been suggested that the faces on Trial Mountain are a result of mirrored textures or Pareidolia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareidolia). I still think it looks rather intentional to me.
19. This man's true identity is still up for debate in the GT community, it seems. Some say that it is Hideo Kojima, while others say it's more likely to be Daiki Kasho, while other names have been suggested too. It's likely we'll never know for sure unless the developer / designer who put this man in the game ever reveals who their real-life inspiration was.
dude the black versions of the 5 race cars also had a smaller horsepower output maxed out than the standart versions
@@petrospago3515 Yeah, it's likely because they have high milage due to them being used cars. You can give them an oil change to get some of those horses back though.
@@MattJ155 no even with oil change the max horsepower in the black versions is about 100 to 150hp less than the original version if you have them try it for yourself

@@petrospago3515 Oil change will never fully restore your engine to working order. Unfortunately, since GT4 doesn't have an "engine rebuild" option in its auto shop, you can't get the car back to like-new condition.

The "face" at #14 isn't really much of an easter egg. This would happen unintentionally, but there's a simple explanation: A cheap way to map textures to look seamless is to flip one side over, and repeat continuously. In other words: You just found a seam of mirrored textures.
I still remeber discovering it since week 1 of GT5 release and posting all the pics on Gtplanet, most probably mirrored textures but still they seem oodly specific
Correct, it's just mirrored texture seams and a case of pareidolia.
Happens a lot in GTAV as well.
Even in GT4 there are in Amalfi... And one type is not casual 🤣 it is in "3D"
Also looks as if it has a body and arms though, even the white below looks like its wearing shorts
I remember that cat in GT5 in Japan I found it when I was young and just exploring.
i remember that gran turismo 6 has a ps3 (a fat model) on the rear seat of the infiniti G37 (the car from license tests IA with Gold) you can see that by changing to cockpit view and look at back
And it also has a sony tv above the console

Don't know if they count as easter eggs but I think it's cool how you can get the pace car in gt4. Also the big sign that says Hmmmmmmmmmm in Laguna Seca was always funny to me

Another interesting thing to notice is the localisation differences: GT3 European version for example uses British English instead of American English (words like "Tires", "License center" are replaced with "Tyres" and "License centre" respectively). However, these is one instance in the tune shop, where one of the parts contain American word instead of British. GT3 also doesn't feature any Opel cars on European version, only Vauxhall cars, but on American version, it's the opposite.
The last truck in GT2 Laguna Seca looks more like the one of benetton team... You can recognize the colors of the logo (upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/54/Benetton_Formula_logo.jpg )
I remember as a kid loving GT2 at my friend's house then GT3 when I got a PS2. So many fond memories. I then got GT5 a day early. I got the Collector's Edition. Played it so much. I just find it relaxing to play but also helps me focus. I can hardly focus for long on anything. Always had this issue.
But I do remember realizing quickly it would take too long to ever get every trophy, let alone 100% the game with all the variables to be able to get all cars too. But I'd love to see what it looks like. Maybe it's on TH-cam or through hacks nowadays. I'm sure there were region specific cars or online only, special limited time events only, etc. Especially GT6. That game is GT5 on steroids. The most tracks and cars ever in a single game.
My cat literally jumped into my lap when this video was talking about the ninth and tenth Gran Turismo Series Easter Eggs.
I saw this video a long time ago but it suddenly popped into my feed again possibly because of my interest in gt7 vids at this time. I'd like to add another that most don't know about. In gt sport, if you turn right before the start finish straight instead of following the track to the left, you will find a parking area in front of the Australian national motor racing museum. The museum will be to the right as you enter the area and if you position your car to look up the driveway, you will see a Nissan bluebird raced by George Fury in the mid 1980s during the Australian touring car championship. This car was a predecessor to the all conquering skyline gtrs of the early 90s. The bluebird has never been featured in any gt game but there it is, perfectly rendered for display.
Actually, I don't know why nobody noticed this on GTP forums, but the nessie easter egg on trial mountain is present since Gran Turismo 3, it's just harder to notice. Also, there is a honda nsx from gt1 hidden on the tokyo route 246 on the parking lot right behind the exit from the pits
As well as a KENT cigarretes ad board in the background :)
Not sure if you can call this a Easter eggs but in New York (Forward) you can find McDonald's and TGI Fridays buildings after the first corner. Another Easter eggs is there's a Bandi Namco logo at (I think) Fuji Speedway at the start, only in GT4 and GT PSP. I think you can still find it in GT5 & 6 but I don't know. This can also be found on the Lexus BANDAI DIREZZA SC430 (SUPER GT) '06. Lastly there's a tall tree at Trial Mountain, after you exit the tunnel head for the hill and you will see a tall tree. Just had to point that out.
You can find a Sonic The Hedgehog and Sega Sammy logo on Fuji in GT6.
I'm pretty sure 17:25 is just a coincidence, because of how textures usually work in 3D games, the texture is mirrored after reaching the right angle. Because in nature only human/animal faces (and other body parts) ale like this, this may look like a face to a human.

You don't need to get within a certain gap from the bronze time to get kids' prize...any time that's above bronze counts, as long as it meets the preset "deadlines" for each test :)
Did you also know that if you beat the 24 hours of LeMans it will give you the Sauber Mercedes in this matte black color
for the Trial Mountain, is too sad that We'll never see Nessie or the Monkey, since the location has been changed in GT7 to be now an American track instead of the Scottish as many supposed was
would be wholesome if they place a Sabine Schmitz related easter Egg on the Nordschleife in GT7
What blows my mind about the GT5 daytime clubman glitch thing is that we have CFW/emulator and GT5 hacking tools but nobody has figured out how to recreate it yet
Hideo Kojima is good friends with Kazunori Yamaguchi. And since Hideo is usually one that likes adding Easter egg and memes, both probably said to add him in GT Sport.

The christmas Songs of GT5 became a Tradition for me...
the last years i always played a bit GT and mostly listen to smooth jazz during the holidays.
The symbol used for the kids prize is the Wakaba, which is a sticker Japan requires new drivers to put on their car within a year of getting their licenses in order to warn others that they are inexperienced and may drive slowly/cautiously. That’s why it’s funny to see the Wakaba on people’s cars in the US because the drivers probably don’t know what it means.
PS I’m only at 2:58 so don’t roast me if it is explained later. And I think it’s ok and cool to have that sticker on your car, it is a nice design with roots in JDM culture, but it’s still funny.
I scanned through replies, and didn't see mention of the kangaroos at Bathurst. At least as old as GT6, they are in the orchard, left side, along the Conrod Straight, ... then in GTS they are a bit further down the same section, under a tree, ... and in GTS they're animated ... I lub dem

Great video. In GT4, in Amalfi track, there are several devilish faces on the rocks!
The "creepy face" is all but a texture connecting with itself. Note how it's symmetrical.

Hi guys! I found a another easter egg! If you take the Mclaren 4/5 B and add the two numbers from the Mclaren, you will get the F090 and If you take the F094/s and you add the two numbers from the F094 you get 16 from the Willams FW16. Also the S stands for Senna

The reason for the r34 is simple. They used the toy car as a 3D model scan and it got put in without a change.

There actually seems(?) to be an outside easter egg to the easter egg: In the car anime "éX-Driver", there is a young boy driving a Caterham Super Seven, going by the name of "Souichi Sugano". I think it was said Kousuke Fujishima(the character designer of éX-Driver and general vehicle nut mangaka that made "You're Under Arrest!, "Oh! My Goddess!" and now "Toppu Uno") named him as reference to the creator of the Initial D series :D

So there's a VERY strange easter egg I found in (I think) GT4 in the MR race at Deep forest. And what it is, is if you race that particular race with a formula car, once either you or the other cars hit a certain lap, they all SPEED UP to formula speeds. It's crazy. I wish I could remember exactly what it was. But I know the track is right and the MR race is right. As far as league or GT version or lap, not 100% sure.
in GT 4 (or GT3 i dont remember) - track Tokyo 246, there was a droid next to the start line, on the left side
i think you forgot that you can see the scea building on tokyo r246 in gran turismo 3 and 4, maybe 5 and 6, on the main straight before the light turn to the start finish line

And I absolutely love how they "fixed" the R34's bottom end haha. PD has been using scale models to make their cars ever since GT1. Though nowadays, they must receive a good amount of CAD data from manufacturers x)

That Winfield Evo is actually an Evo 5, not 6 - the inboard foglights (even though blanked) are the difference. There wasn't a TME Evo 5, only 6. Yes I know I'm a massive nerd - and I'm an Impreza man, so I expect an Evo afficiando may correct me :)

in the set of gran turismo 4, it also exists the mazda Rx-7 LM race car, that it can be in a specil black livery. this car can be obtained by RNG winning the 4h roadster race. I was lucky and got it in the first try. The black version also removes most of the livery in the car, here you go a pic of the car (sorry for bad quality)

I found an interesting Easter egg if you want to call it that in GT Sport. If you zoom in on the bottom left or right corner of a cars front window you’ll see they either edit out or replace the vehicle VIN number. On the Lamborghini Aventador and Aventador SV they left the VIN in. However it’s the same VIN on both cars. Google the VIN which is ZHWEC1473CLA00064 and you can find on a website which il link at the end the very car that was used in the game. Apparently the real Aventador has had 3 recalls lol. It’s the only car I’ve seen in game with a real VIN.
