Pike, walleye, carp, musky, trout used to be stocked in that part of the river too!
Thanks , I’ll never understand why they stock trout where there are pike and musky lol
Is still trout in it. Browns for sure I released 8 in October I didn't use for bait that were all 14-16" and very much alive . Trout are like candy to flatheads
Nice to know there’s some in there
Spillways are always a blast
That day was a really good day of fishing . After I fished the spillway I went down river and caught over 50 smallmouth the rest of the day and hooked into my first musky that jumped and broke me off .
@@412Angler see i want to get into some muskies and pike
Spring I’m going after them
Looked like a great day of fishing !
It sure was , second video of that day to come !
Great video !
Thanks !
Looks like a good day of fishing
Sure was
Looked like a good day !
It was
that place has always been snag central for me fishing the bottom. nice to see someone bang out a few. I have always caught trout downstream and have got a few pike down at the bridge downstream as well. I like wading from your right were it turns into the river and walking down. there are a few deep holes tho so be careful. I fell into one in April 1999 and almost drown.
Ya it was bad when I first started with that bomber long a so I quit using it , that was early in the morning . The rest of the day I walked down by the bridge in the water and caught about 50 smallmouth, they were all small but still caught fish . Never heard of trout being caught in the river , I hooked into my first musky there that day too and got broke off . Went up New Year’s Day for the second time and was the only one there all day and got my first pike . I’m ready to go back up again asap
Is 50+lb flatheads in that river along with damn near wvery other species in nw Pennsylvania
Crazy to think that’s waterway has that many fish and fish of that size in it . It’s not crazy big like the Ohio river or anything
It is insane for the size of the river. I can cast across the river in 95% of it but it's loaded. Especially with flatheads my 8 year old son caught 6 30+ pound flatheads this past summer right there In sharpsville and another 5 out at big bend end of river. Biggest I got last year was 45.5"x28.5". Last year"22" we got 3 fish over 48" easy 50+lbs . I've said for the last 5 years a state record flathead is gonna be caught in shenango river. We release all flathead even in the lake and big bend end where they are safe to eat. May-end of June it's best big bend end of river july- November weather permitting outflow end is better for flatheads
@@pyrodave6407 crazy , it’s a bit of a drive so I don’t get there too much , but definitely a great place .
Nice video
Thanks
Is that by the old gate house? ty
Don’t know , that was my first time there

Awesome man! I live 10min from the dam. Find me on Facebook maybe we will link up sometime. I fish that outflow a lot!
I’m considering going up maybe tomorrow or Friday, not sure yet.
@@412Angler they have all 7 gates open to I believe 2’ last I checked. Was going to go this past Sunday morning but too high
I’ll have to check , might go up might take the kayak somewhere closer not 100% sure yet . I usually never know until the last minute where I’m for sure going lol smh
