Awesome tour man, my dad worked that mine in his 20's and we still go up to pick through the tailings piles. This was processing long strand asbestos not the dangerous type.
Thank you! I would love to join you sometime if you’re heading up there again. I didn’t get enough time to poke around, crazy storm came through right after my phone died and I didn’t find what I was looking for. If you have Instagram shoot me a message insta:@origin_exploration
The non dangerous type 😂 chrysotile is just as dangerous. Anyone who goes there is bonkers, if the asbestos doesn’t get and thats unlikely, then the bird shit will. A mask is a good start but you should consider the contamination to your clothes, shoes, hair, then spreading that contamination to your car or taking it home for others to breathe in. Type 5/6 coveralls. Good luck!
Good video! Please protect yourself, a P100 mask is cheap. IMO lose the music and the jumpscares and try to move the camera slower so we have time to look
Thank you for the feedback, I’m still learning as I go. I agree about the music. Not gonna lie, I was terrified and working with a dying battery cause I forgot cord in car, so I was rushing to get as much as I could before it died.
its all above ground. you obviously have no idea what kind of place you walked into. You should not have been breathing any dust you kicked up and should have had a mask on. My father and many of my friends fathers worked there and many of them died from cancer from that place....
I knew the risk I was taking going there. Luckily it had rained earlier in the day so the dust outside was minimal. I did have my shirt covering my face most of the time while inside. the only part I thought might have gone underground was the one conveyer because it seems to keep going. I’m sorry to hear about your father and your friends fathers.
@@Origin_Exploration do you really know the risks? Have you ever seen someone gasping for breath, I mean really gasping and just when you think you are safe years and years later, BANG it's got you.
What is the inevitable outcome to life?? Yes I know the risks I take, but at least at the end of my life, I can say I lived… and didn’t just suck air like most people. Quit being scared and go do something exciting and dangerous!!
@@vt3fan4evr that's crazy, my dad worked there for 10+ years bagging and worked the crusher room. Haven't heard of a single case of meso from anyone working up there...🧐
The mine was shut down because the power cost to run it outweighed the material produced. EPA had not labeled it a hazard until the late 90's well over 10 years after it shut down.
@@Origin_Exploration everyone has to start somewhere. It’ll be fun to watch you grow. If you ever get to California, I’m in Sacramento and there are places nearby on the American River to go gold panning….
You are the only person on TH-cam that’s ever made it into that place. I live about an hour from there and really want to explore the whole complex. My biggest fear, besides cancer, is the caretaker that lives on site. Not sure if he’s dangerous or not, but a little scared to risk it. Thank you for the video man, one of the greatest urbex videos from Vermont.
There are many different types of asbestos and the type they were processing here wasn’t the harmful kind. I’m always looking for other people to go on adventures with and I’ve received an invite to go back up there by a local. Hmu on instagram if you’ve got it! Insta: @origin_exploration
If you live nearby man, my wife's aunt and uncle are the "gatekeepers" up there and we go up all the time to pick through the tailings. The ATVS make it waaaay easier to get up there, it's a long walk from the gate 😆
@@thebackyardsender so my wife's aunt and uncle (Butch and Linda) own the lil red house at the main gate and keep an eye on the place. My great uncle Howard Manosh owns the actual mine and my uncle Nick Manosh manages the mine and roads in the mine.

@@idek12343 haha. Went there a few weeks ago and lived. I did see the caretaker walking to the buildings as I was leaving but he never saw me. People make it seem harder to get in than it is
While I don't consider myself a paranoid person, I think I might have at least worn a dust mask if not a respirator once I got inside the structures.
Fair enough
Why??is it so you could be one of the lucky bastards sitting in your own shit, waiting on somebody to stop by and change your diaper??

hope the mesothelioma was worth making a youtube video. Damn dude.
We all die
If you have ever spent significant time in a house built before the 80s you have inhaled plenty of asbestos fibers. Don't think about it too hard.

I thought the same thing 🤦🏼♂️I’m still trying to figure it out. Thanks for the feedback
YIKES. Please wear at least a mask next time, your safety is more important than this video. Incredible footage but Asbestos is terrifying.
Life can be terrifying, but that’s what makes it so interesting!! Thank you for watching!!
I’ve been to this place and was non stop coughing after, definitely made the mistake of not wearing a mask or even a face covering
That's crazy, my dad bagged 100lb asbestos in that exact building with no PPE for 6 years and I've never heard him cough once...
I saw this from the fire tower on the long tail and that was close enough for me
The rocks you picked up by the pound were serpentine
I’m not sure why but I’m not bout to go rub down evey rock knowing this place is shut down cus of cancer good luck bro be safe don’t suck on any
