I love how high effort this ROM hack is. Truly impressive.
I think it's sad. The rom hack version is better and more heart care and love put into it than the official version.
Especially since Xbox. PS and Switch fans are stuck with the sucky version.
This is a cool romhack, but thats not true lol. It’s significantly easier to improve someone else’s work than it is to be the one who created it to begin with. Absolute insult to the artists and minds that created megaman, and all the sprite work and assets that allows this romhack to even exist in the first place.
@@Swillo No. It is true. For one, this improves upon the performance to get it working as smooth as possible for the SNES (It is well known for having a rather weak processor compared to the Mega Drive and even the PC Engine; base Mega Man 7 slows down a lot!), Two, it uses amazing tricks to get the Wily Capsule fight to look as good as it could (Mode 7 supports no real BG planes, as the scaling and rotating sprite IS the BG; the use of palette swapped "scrolling" is well done). Lastly, not all the sprite work is ripped from the base game. There are some original sprites and animations made as well and they all look fantastic.
It's not a hack of any kind. It's just a variant of the universally hated Mega Man 7 with different maps.

Ha! That Shademan layout is basically a homage to the original castlevania game and Wily 2 having parts from Parodius: Non-Sense Fantasy in its design. (Edit: Oops a bit wrong there, I found out Wily 2 is actually copied from the Gradius series which Parodius closely parodies.)
The "Weird Al" Effect!
Half the stage is basically a Castlevania Homage. The beginning is like the first level in the original game, the part with the birds and other enemies (especially with how you enter it) reminds me of the second part of the level with Frankenstein. The ending is a clocktower, which is a semi-series staple of Castlevania.
Multiple enemies look to be borrowed from Kirby, too. It was most notable on the cloud stage, which is fitting since Kracko is such a staple.

Wow this is crazy. At first it just seems like remixed stages and gameplay, and then you get to Spring Man and it's COMPLETELY different!
Nice Shademan Stage changes. Went from Ghouls and Ghosts to Castlevania. Both are great. Great job on the run too. That shield is redic with how much it opens the door to SPEED.

This is the most insane hack I've ever seen. 7 was already my most favorite Mega Man game, but all the nods, references and nice touches may make this this ultimate Mega Man experience.

This game is emblematic of a lot of both the positives AND negatives of this sort of ROM hack; on the one hand, it shows clear expertise with the game in question, and really sets out to make a whole new game out of pre-existing assets and ingredients; on the other, it goes so bugger-nuts with abusing the game engine and pushing what can be put in the game and thrown at the player to the limit (especially in the latter half, in this case) that clearly at some point the creator(s) forgot that actual human beings were going to be playing, let alone people who might not appreciate a game that all but necessitates save-states every five seconds or so just to even progress forward.
I didn't use savestates at all, actually. The game tosses E-Tanks, W-Tanks and S-Tanks at you like candy, to the point where the final level literally parodies that by having heaps and stacks of them, literally giving you infinite lives and E-Tanks and autorefills before the final battle. The weapons are also all pretty good - once you get a couple, the buster becomes useless.

Also, OP forgot games like Gunstar Heroes and Contra Hard Corps exist. He doesn’t know how fun those types of games are.

Minus infinity is a difficult, chaotic mess where everything is a glass cannon and that's why i love it, EP feels far more balanced (aside from self burning lol) but it also leans far more into gimmicks which is why i love it just as much

Wily Stage 2 literal Gradius/Tohou stage (and speaking of Gradius... Shade Man's weapon literally is Gradius' Ripple/Pulse Laser), Wily stage 4... literally Actraiser's Death Heim with some of the Act 2 background effect/Tanzra fight... this hack really is something else... pretty cool, and also it has a bad ending... but you really need to take your time during the Forte (Bass) fight to lose the match and make sure you reach his 2nd phase were he puts his Treble (Gospel) Super Armor to make things slighty faster.

Yeah, it's sort of an overheat meter. You can have HP past 28 up to 56, but it'll slowly tick back down to 28.
@@nethowarrior3294 Oh, I see! Not penalty damage but a sort of temporary overflow, like what Crisis Core did with their meter bonuses.
It's a benefit for the player for sure, but sure would have been interesting to see a sort of penalty mechanic, like Mega Man losing power if he didn't get into direct light to continue powering himself or something.
