Southern California Fishing - PERSONAL BEST LINGCOD Catch/Clean/Cook at the Coronado Islands

We embarked on our first fishing trip of 2024 to the Coronado Islands, Mexico in search of Yellowtail, lingcod and rockfish. I was able to catch my personal best Lingcod, so we did a catch/clean/cook. We smoked the roe and gave that a taste also. Let me tell you... it was interesting! never seen roe cooked before. usually brining it and turning it to caviar is the best way for roe.

I've been wanting to fish the Cornados for a couple years now. All the paperwork seems like a headache. I have my passport and Mexican fishing license, The bio bralette seems simple, you can get one for the year. Where my hangup is is the nautical FMM. I see people stop on the way home from offshore a lot. I doubt they are all getting a FMM. What are your thoughts? Thanks

It is a bit of a pain, but in my book better safe than getting your boat repoed in Mexico. I agree and think that most people don't have FMM and are just risking it but it's worth it when you get to go catch some rockfish or Yellowtail during US rockfish closure.
