      In most cases yes. I agree. But this wasn't how it worked out for me. I learned French especially to communicate with my in-laws. Never got a smile or a word of encouragement. Always got told I wasn't learning fast enough and even sometimes implying that I didn't even try hard enough. I somehow never gave up and today I speak French at near native level fluency. Never get stuck for words or expressions.

    • @BxrHavik
      @BxrHavik 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@kingvoltzxix3633 Yes lol. I was fine until I learned of all the things that have been changed. I've been trying to figure out how its possible. I know for a fact that things were different, I'm not just misremembering like idiots try to say just because they themselves don't remember things like that. Things were one way and then they were different. I personally believe in Quantum Immortality. because my family isn't the same family I grew up with, they are just different. They have different memories and don't remember fundamental things in my past that definitely happened. Quantum Immortality could easily explain all this by saying that my consciousness was transferred to an alternate world with the people having slight variations in memories of my past and theirs and movie quotes, peoples names, etc being slightly different. However if this is the reason for the Mandela effect and everyone who experiences it is someone who has died and been transferred to an alternate reality, then why is there residual evidence of the old world? This seems impossible. However there is recordings of the Oscars of the host saying show and movie titles and quotes from those movies the way they were originally. How could they possibly get get something like that wrong? That would be all over the news the next day, you don't just get things wrong at the Oscars lol. Star Wars is another big one that people remember being "Luke, I am your father." and there is undeniable proof that it was like this in the movie Tommy Boy (1995) when Tommy Boy is talking into his fan on his office desk saying "Luke.... Luke.... I am your father.... lo la lay lo" Richard his coworker / friend then walks in and tells him to get to work and then Tommy Boy says "That was Star Wars..." and Richard saying "I know." So we have the quote, the person saying it saying where the quote was from and Richard agreeing as if this was common knowledge. Thus proving that this cant be just written off as a misquote or saying its something else. There's so many examples of this were there is residual evidence of the old world, but how? This makes me think that it might not be Quantum Immortality, because there shouldn't be residual evidence if we were transferred to an alternate reality. but if its not that, then how come my family are completely different? And its not like they just say things that I experienced differently. The family I grew up with has said things one way and then now they have no memory of these things. For example my mother told me when I was young that when I was born I came out blue because I had the umbilical cord wrapped around my throat and they called me the miracle baby because I should have suffocated. However now my mother says that never happened. If Quantum Immortality isn't the reason for the Mandela effect, I can't easily explain this and other things people say I've done that have never happened. The only way that I can explain that and residual evidence coexisting is that we live in a simulation and the inconsistent timelines is a glitch; however this is a bit of a stretch for most people, myself included lol.

    When I was trying to describe how to pronounce Tagalog words to my friend, I kinda came up with these rules:
    1. Vowels never interact with each other (two vowels next to each other means they’re pronounced as separate syllables)
    2. Consonants also never interact with each other (same as above) EXCEPT for “ng” and (technically) “ts”
    3. “ng” is considered one letter and is read as how you’d think to read it
    4. “ts” doesn’t naturally exist in the Tagalog vocabulary, but it’s supposed to replace the “ch” sounds in non-Tagalog based words (e.g. kutsara, tsinelas, etc.)
    5. Every vowel ends a syllable
    6. A consonant only ends a syllable if the next syllable starts with another consonant, proceeded by a dash (pag-asa, tong-its, etc.), or is at the end of the word
    7. The letter “C” doesn’t exist in the alphabet, hence the soft C sound also doesn’t exist (e.g. face, hence, etc)
    8. “F” and “V” also don’t naturally occur in the language, hence why Filipinos tend to mix up “F“ with “P“ and “V” with “B”
    9. Vowels generally only have one sound: “A” (ah), “E” (short-e like “Sell”), “I” (ee), “O” (short-o like “Short”), “U” (oo)
    Those pointers got my friend reeeally close in pronouncing Tagalog words very decently. He even managed to very convincingly sing “Hallelujah” by Bamboo in karaoke lool

    It's a type of language that you really have to learn from childhood. Some foreigners living in the Philippines for a decade couldn't even get it right till now. If you really want to learn the language, you need to start early and maybe, watch a lot of Filipino shows (no matter how cliche it is) LOL. and of course talk Tagalog with some people too. I think so too because if the language connection is that big I would be able to understand Spanish and not just recognize and associate with some words and phrases. No offense to my fellow Filipinos, this is just an opinion based on my observations and experiences as someone who is from Zamboanga City with half of my relatives having Spanish names and surnames. American culture just does not encourage Americans to speak multiple languages. I just can't pick my wife and family's native tongue up or Tagalog. I just can't hear it. You can get by in the Philippines without understanding or speaking any of the many languages there, but life is just much easier if you can speak at least Tagalog. At least you will never hear, "I have nose bleed" or, "I've run out of English".

      As I said, and this should not be dismissed. There are strong (very strong) reasons and historical backgrounds on the mechanics of American culture. One of those historical-cultural dynamics is to control Americans, to control the citizenship. One way to control people is to control their language. American educational system discourages multiple language education. Even though Spanish, French, and German are often offered in high school, it isn't encouraged and made very difficult for students to pick up new languages. You should also consider the reason those three languages are offered as electives in the first place. There is a long history behind Europe's involvement in American culture.
      You should also take into account the fact that Americans don't travel when you look at the total numbers. Taking the numbers into account, only a few Americans travel or even know what their own country looks like on a map or a globe, let alone knowing other languages.
      In my personal experience living for 6 years in the Philippines, I could find no one interested in teaching me the local language. I found it very difficult to even have an English conversation with Filipinos in general for extended periods of time, let alone teach me their language. I don't say these things to criticize Filipinos in any way. In fact, it is more of a commentary of how our American system of separatism and nationalism.

    • @HollowDolly
      @HollowDolly 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@ZebraFacts I appreciate your info and at the same educating us a little about the system there. That's a shame that it isn't encouraged. But I actually laughed at the bit where you said about "I have nosebleed" and "I've run out of English" because it's so true. 😂😂😂

    • @ZebraFacts
      @ZebraFacts 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@HollowDolly I laughed at myself when I figured out that the person that first made that comment in my presents, their nose wasn't actually bleeding! I am known to take a lot of things literally, as I did when I someone said they were having a "nosebleed". To top it all off, I only said a few words to that person.
      When I am talking with my Filipino family and friends, in the Philippines, I always keep in mind that even though they speak very clear American English, they may only be able to do it in short spurts comfortably. So, I usually don't say much at all. Except for one brother-in-law. He loves speaking English, and when he sees me, we talk for hours at a time. Being that he is older, we talk mostly about when Marcos was in office and how he feels that the most positive thing the Americans brought to the Philippines, was a structured educational system.
