      Did you get one for fathers day?? The stainless steel guard comes with the rotisserie. Watch my other videos on it.

    Hey Mike, what weight is this? What do you think the capacity of this rotisserie is, we can’t seem to find it. Thanks!

    • @MikesManCave
      @MikesManCave  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not sure on capacity, but it easily does a 2kg roast or chicken, they stopped selling these in Australia a while ago, but then they brought them back. Just see if they are on the weber website. Let me know how you go.

      It’s very unfair, especially when US market would be way more than Australia.

    • @MikesManCave
      @MikesManCave  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      ?? Not sure what you mean, a Q1200 Weber BBQ comes with a lid to suit. There is no optional lids available for these.

    • @camanda930
      @camanda930 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MikesManCave in Australia you can buy a different lid for the q1200 that has an extra 2” or so of clearance called the high lid. I haven’t been able to find the lid here in the US. I was curious if I would need to track one down in order to use the rotisserie properly. Sounds like I won’t. Thanks!

      @@deanbruce712 I set up for roasting, main burner on full,middle on low. During cooking I adjusted the middle burner to control desired crackling. Mine turned out great. Give it a go, I found the rotisserie better with a loin roll as its more even in size.

    Looks good Mike. Couple of questions.... Do you think the roast is any better cooking like this compared to the normal way of roasting on the Q? In the video the skin seemed soft not crackled was this the case? Where do you get the smoker pellets from and are they any better then using woodchips? Cheers mate love seeing a new video of yours pop up! Cheers

    • @MikesManCave
      @MikesManCave  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Spit roasting is always better in my opinion. Hence its popularity all round the world. Crackling is fine if you have enough heat. Smoking pellets buy at any bbq shop and check out the video linked in the description box. Are they better than wood chips?? Who knows? Is coke better than Pepsi?? Apple better than Samsung? Personal preference. Wood chips are for charcoal bbq. Pellets are usually for gas bbq. Pellets have much more flavours, I have jack Daniels pellets. I have hickory and rosemary pellets and a few others.

      I believe the fact that it rolls around means the juices and fats 'self-baste' the meat rather than running off, resulting in a juicier and tastier cook.

    Hi, Mike! I really enjoyed the video. I'm in Texas and have a Q1200. I like the idea of spit roasting and have put it on my wish list on Amazon.com. A couple of questions: 1) Once you start the rotisserie do you keep the lid closed, only opening to check doneness? 2) Do you let the meat self-baste or do you manually baste? 3) How much flavor do the pellets give the meat? Thanks!

    • @MikesManCave
      @MikesManCave  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Keep the lid closed if you want the meat to cook. Youb can baste if you like, I don't bother can't see a need for it. Pellets add a smoked flavour to make it more like charcoal grilled meat.
