  • Are you now running more than you used to now that the gyms are closed? Or have you started running and haven't done much before? Maybe you already have a pain in the knee or the hips from the increase in running volume. Then check these essential leg stretches out. These are my must haves for any runner or someone starting out running to maintain their mobility and prevent the niggles and any major injuries down the track.

    Seriously this is the best set of runner stretches I’ve done! The quad stretch is amazing! Both easier on my knee and a deeper stretch! Thank you ❤

    Getting back into running after a few years off. Running has been so painful and I'm sure I'm high risk of injury. These stretches are now so easy and you explain them so well. Thank you for simplifying!

    Your a life saver. I got a cramp in my hamstring. I wanted to quit running so fast and just give up working out in general. But I understand know that stretching is key towards a healthy body

      Right there with you. Took up jogging again in October and it felt like I broke my arse for 3 months. Starting it again now and doing it properly with these stretches after each jog. Too old to get away with not stretching much anymore!

    They was all felt like they helped alot whilst doing them tonight, had few aches etc in hammies & calves.. will try them out tomorrow before & after my next run see what happens👊

    I am so guilty of not stretching. You make it possible. Question though, my apology if I missed it. You said to hold each pose for two minutes, right? How many reps per leg. Ty so much for this!

      1-2 mins per leg, 2-4 sets per leg

    would have been nicer and easier to follow along with the stretches instead of having them just explained (alternating each side, staying the poses for 1 minute, etc.)

      Before it you are really tight! And then say 2hrs after when you are seizing up

    Embarrassed to ask this but should I stretch before, after or both? I’ve tried running a few times and end up with sore knees and shin splints so bad I can barely walk for weeks.

    Awesome thanks, Tim. Very helpful! Do you think we should aim to build up to holding all these stretches for 2 min? Also do you think sprinters should also be doing these stretches on a daily basis? Most sprint coaches say that it's an advantage for sprinters to be on the tight side.

      Yes but not too tight! These are good for the runners and 1-2 mins. Not every day, aim for 2-3 x per week full session

    The stretch at 5:30 causes me knee pain on both sides. Is that normal?

    I usually do long distance but my track coach put me in the 4x4 relay and anytime we do 400's my bottom hurts so bad idk if thats normal can i prevent it because it really hurts my glutes after i do an all out 400
