I was waiting for that jacket to come off. After the tease for the reveal of the first and last letters, I was left both relieved and disappointed that it was a "Grumpy" t-shirt. 😂
I live 5 miles from that Guitar Center. While it can be cold at night at this time of year (45 degrees), it can be pretty warm when the sun is blaring down on you in the middle of the day.
OMG .. memories I worked there in 1989.. Zach Wylde walked in first thing in the morning pulled a wad of cash out of his boots and I sold him 3 sets of emg 81 n 85s for his 3 Les Paul's he used while recording ozzmosis ..Zack is a super cool dude from NJ..I was originally from Staten Island..we hit it off.. Great memories..also sold Jason Becker alot of stuff while recording with David Lee Roth...another great guy...Dam ...this video takes me back...love your channel 🎉
Carvin used to be right there around Mesa Boogie. There was also a shop that sold mostly Peavy. Long ago, after checking all that out, we could head over to the record shops on Melrose. Everywhere was littered with fliers for local bands. There was so much live music.
I definitely see some of my work on the wall in Guitar Center Hollywood! (I work for PRS, and I build all the slab bodies (and my work ends up on a lot of wood library PRS! I build the swamp ash and korina backs for those ;)
i purchased my first electric guitar at Guitar Center Hollywood in 1985, but not this store. The original Guitar Center was a single Mom and Pop store located across the street to the left corner. I worked my ass off at a local Park during the summer to earn money. Ibanez Pro Line and Fender Sidekick Reverb amp. You could wheel and deal back then.
I live in North Hollywood, Google map.I think it's great you are in town. I would like to suggest that you visit Imperial Guitars. They have 3 stors locally. The 2 best locations are in Sherman Oaks and in Burbank. They are about 20min apart so you could visit both. Also you have to make a pilgrimage to Norman's Rair Guitars in Tarzana right next to Sherman Oaks. And don't forget LA Vintage Guitars in Studio City and in Burbank. Hope to bump into you at NAMM. Have a great time in LA. And thanks for the great content.
7:32 The green and gold Rickenbacker (4th from left to right). That's the same model used in the video of "Wherever you will go" by The Calling. As a kid, I've always wondered which guitar was this one. Super unique.
It's worth stopping there just for the handprints out front and the Vintage room inside. There was both a Mesa store and a Carvin store across the street decades ago.
Let’s goooo! Kaiden and Glen are tearing up the US!! Glen clearly left his farty mark already!! 💨🤣🤘🏻Nice of you to wear your Sam Ash hat to honor them at GC!
Have fun at NAMM! I've been before as a spokesperson for a modular synth company and met plenty of cool people. Also just a warning to your friend, you probably shouldn't wear a jacket over that shirt in California. People may mistake it for something else.
I bought and returned that Reb Beach Suhr. You probably didn't see it but the back was awful full of spots. It looked like the Koa Wood had a disease. I posted it on the Suhr Facebook group and quickly got taken down. Then John Suhr contacted me about it telling me that instead of sharing it on Facebook I should've gone to them directly for a replacement and then supposedly he was gonna get it recalled but after more than six months it's still there at Guitar Center and nobody is buying it. Such a shame. I ended up getting a 2006 used one in mint condition and beautiful Koa wood for 3k instead of five. I did much better.
Wendys? Youre in California, you gotta hit an In-N-Out. Try some mexican taco shops too, the more "mom and pop" it looks the better the food. LA has some great ones.
OH MAN!!! Van Halen's hands... SUGGESTION FOR NEXT TIME: bring a large sheet of paper and make a stencil with a piece of chalk or something. You know...like we did in kindergarten. Then you frame that in your practice room. aw man... Dude I want to book a flight just to do that...
At least it's a place you can still go and play a guitar before you buy it. In the 80's there were 11 or 12 guitar stores in driving distance from me. 3 within walking distance. In the early 90's it was down to 4 or 5, none in walking distance. Now it just Guitar Center, 15 miles away, thats it. Since I don't like buying guitars off of a screen, I'll go to Guitar Center. But to be honest i have better luck at yardsales and flea markets these days.
I get almost all my guitars from offerup/Craigslist/FB marketplace, but I recently for a crazy deal on a schecter from MusicGoRound. I was checking out there stuff and they have pretty killer deals
It's a sad sight, unless it's a huge one like Thomann. Music maker in Dublin Ireland where KDH is from for example, used to be filled with guitars all over the walls. There's only a fraction now upstairs. He did a video about the shops closing a little while ago. It's sad to see.
Not exactly like how it was in the 80’s…a lot of private equity bought up the clubs and turned them into high rise condos, then wonder why the spirit of the music scene is mostly gone
@@funkingitup1805 Isn't the VAT higher than that? A friend with a guitar shop in Texas had Europeans fly in for the weekend, pickup their preordered Diezel or Mesa amp and fly back with it for less than the cost of buying locally.
Time comes for us all. Those guitars are like 30 years old now, and so do the prices! Such as my wine red 81 Les Paul Custom that was “a lot of money” when I got it 10 years ago for 2k on the button. Now…lol, lmao
Welcome to my TH-cam channel. No no, don’t take your shoes off. Okay yeah.. actually do.

tbf, they're Irish.

Rair???
I think the Sherman Oaks one is temporarily closed for renovations. I’m like equally distant from that one, Hollywood, and Pasadena’s locations haha
Why did Steve Vai's left hand have an extra digit?

All I can say is I like this side of you, KDH.
The Mad City Boxing Gym at 3:12 used to be Peavey’s store too. Been like a decade since both shops closed, though
Those Suhr Guitars looked gorgeous.
They’re after our lucky charms 🗽🇺🇸 Welcome to the States boys, hope you enjoyed your time here. 🫶
That Sam ash was great. 😢
Can't wait for the NAMM coverage guys! 👍
Have fun over there. Cheers from freezing cold Germany

Celluloid heros is one of the best things the kinks ever did.
Hollywood looks so cool! Would love to ride a Harley through the streets
Glen should get a guitar center hat to immortalize the moment.
Seeing this, now I need to go here just to put my hands in Ed's handprint
You should check out Imperial Vintage guitars while you're there. It's in Burbank, not far from Hollywood.
Come by my booth man! Love to meet you! Fellow Irish lad. No. 1839
Not built for that weather?
It's WINTER there! LOL!
Sweaty bollocks here tho! 🥵
“Look at that guitar” “OMG Look at that guitar” Relatable 🤣

Don't worry it's okay now. We elected him!😂😂 The grown-ups are back in the room!
Does Steve Vai have 6 fingers on his left hand?
I saw that they had a Flying V 2 I wonder what you would've played on it, those guitars are so interesting
it's wayne's world reboot!

I think most Americans hate Guitar Center. I know I do.
Love/hate
They try passing off new guitars that have been purchased multiple times and seem to have factory seconds or something similar.
That's a pretty bold statement... Most Americans? 🤨🤨

Yeah please say hi
Why does Steve Vai have six fingers? 🤣
fart or not, Hollywood already smells like that
LA Native here, I absolutely loathe the Hollywood GC. Mainly because they’ll have zero problem selling you a beat up guitar for retail price.
Yeah you do have to haggle and then be willing to walk away if the salesperson isn’t willing to make the sale
