Benny Goodman! Another historic, monumental video, you sure outdid yourself with Billy, Jim, one hell of a video. You've picked up from your last historic episode yet a lot more magic and some new mystic with this Legacy of Mr. Les Paul.... I can not believe the 25 guitar picks from Django Reinhardt, I finished a podcast episode a few days ago talking about Django in my Top 10 influences then I watched this today, was floored, man I never even heard about that stuff, very cool. Hat's off to you for putting a chunk of your heart into THIS VIDEO, you did really really good brother Benny. The joke book, the cool stories you brought out, everything about this video is way beyond top notch................. Top 10 Les Paul videos ever seen,,,,,
I'm 61 y/o and JUST learning electric guitar for the first time. I know just enough about prominent names in the industry to be totally awed at this video! When Jim pulled that mailbox out I was blown away with feeling of awe, chills up my spine, and a tear in my eye! This was incredible! BTW, I just saw Billy perform here in Syracuse NY a couple months ago. So much respect!
That’s awesome sir, go at your own pace…learning the guitar yrs back was the most rewarding thing I’ve done…you’ll always have a best friend in a good guitar, best of luck, God bless you and your family
I'm 61 too, But I started playing guitar in the early 80's. A few years later I was in a "band" (Just some friends jamming) and we played for most music from ZZ-Top, SRV and Jimmie Hendrix. I had a Cheap sunburst Les Paul clone. We also went to Germany to watch a ZZ-Top concert. Since a year I finally have a Gibson Les Paul in Sunburst.
Thank you so much for this wonderful look into the history of "The Man"! Without him, we wouldn't have the tools for the music that brings so many people together.
He was so important to life as we know it now. cheers to les. Thank you so much for watching. Please subscribe and join the madness if you haven't already 🤘😜🤘
You know you did good when you got Billy Gibbons to remove the shades! 😎 Been waiting for you to release this since you showed bits and pieces. I had no idea there’s such a cool treasure of history right next door to NYC. I’m glad this entire thing happened the way it did. Totally awesome the way it all unfolded. Thanks for saving a piece of music history (and a bunch of great coincidences that led to the restoration and this meeting) - or maybe Les made it happen from up above.
I am so very Happy that it was you guy's that got to Make this Video . Every Musician Knows we are just passing through and all of this stuff shall be rearranged , Be in thrift stores and in Peoples collections and Sold for Less than a Hundred Bucks , But you guy's got it Now :) QC
He's a treat and imagine all of that sitting in that amazing museum in Mahwah with all of Les Paul's legendary artifacts. It's like a trip to mecca. Everyone has to do it once
This was absolutely fantastic to watch! Beautiful and sweet stories about the Legend himself. Thank you so much for sharing this with us! God bless and rock on 👍😎🎸
Awesome! I met Jim back in 2010 and he use to tell me about all this LP stuff he had. I knew it was going to be a daunting task getting it all somewhere to display. Im glad Mahwah created a permanent spot in the museum for all to see. This is extra special for me as I grew up in Mahwah and was fully aware of Les. My father in law was part of the "jazz" scene and was friends with all the players from Bucky Pizzarelli to Lou Pallo. I got to meet a lot of them before they passed away. It's become an era etched in time. Thanks for posting this. This was really special.
Fantastic video! You had me glued to this from the first second! Thank you, thank you, thank you for caring so much about a real hero of electric guitar and now a legend. R.I.P. Sir Les Paul.
that was one of the best music related videos I've ever seen Hiding the mailbox was so brilliant of Les Paul, he really loved you thanks for looking out for him 💖
I have never, in all the years I’ve had TH-cam, commented on a video, until today. I teared up at the end watching this. What an amazing story of friendship. The fact that people can not only touch but actually play guitars, cables, and amps that belonged to Les Paul truly aligns with his spirit and personality. Having Mr. Wysocki tell the stories himself is just priceless. There is no dollar value you can put on any of the items displayed there. Art, especially music, is meant to be shared. I know of so many collections that are locked away in someone’s house and are only displayed to the owner to feed their ego. I am really happy to see Les Paul’s historic artifacts being shared with people who truly appreciate his legacy and worldwide cultural impact. Growing up in Venezuela, I fell in love with the guitar after seeing a Les Paul, and I now own several. Next time I’m in the area, I will plan a visit to the museum to pay my respects to The Man. This collection couldn’t have landed in better hands. Thank you for sharing this us Benny, and to Mr Wysocki for keeping the legacy alive, (and to Mrs Wysocki for not throwing history away! 😂)
You aren’t the only one! He got me at the “I found you” part too. I wonder if he really knew what he’s meant to all of us, all music lovers, and thus to the world? I wish I could have known him, and been pushed to learn to play by him as well! Maybe I’d be a lot better than I am lol!
The part that really got me was that, for the first copy, he meant the actual manuscript for the book. What an amazing gesture. And the mailbox! Holy crap, I didn’t see that one coming! What Les Paul created went on to become not only amazing musical instruments, but also objects of veneration for many-art pieces that became cultural staples, transcending societies, geography, and cultures. His invention of the solid-body electric guitar revolutionized the music world, giving artists new creative possibilities and inspiring generations of musicians to push boundaries. I read a comment here from someone that just started playing at 60. I applaud you, sir. It is never too late to allow more art into your life and music into your soul. If you own a Les Paul, there’s a little bit of his soul that resonates around you every time you pluck a string. It is just such a magical instrument, and there’s no other way to explain why we are so drawn to it. The power of music never ceases to amaze me. Les Paul became such an icon and ambassador of goodwill. Even now, though he is no longer with us physically, his legacy lives on in every note played on a guitar bearing his name. He wasn’t just an inventor; he was a visionary who transformed the way we experience music. His influence isn’t confined to the past but resonates in the present and will undoubtedly continue into the future, as both seasoned musicians and newcomers alike pick up a Les Paul guitar and create art that moves the world.
Holy smokes! What great stories of Les Paul. Honestly, I have goose bumps hearing those great tales, and seeing The Wizard's gear and memorabilia. I'm glad to hear the story of the white guitar that I've seen in the background of so many of your videos. I recognized it as having the hallmarks of Les's handiwork the instant that I first saw it. Jimmy's an awesome, generous guy, just like Les was. I laughed my butt off when they pulled the mailbox from it's hiding place. Les knew that Jimmy would find it one day. I imagine that Les was laughing his a$$ off as he hid it there. Thanks for sharing.
History being made before our very eyes is rare in these times. THIS IS HISTORY!! Thanks for posting this one , and may Les’s legacy live on in infamy. 😎👍

Seeing as people love to complain about pretty much everything these days, I'm gonna join in and complain that this was only 22 mins long. That has got to be the best tube vid I have seen in a long time, it was frigging awesome! I could have watched a documentary length of this content.

What a wonderful video... testimony to an absolute legend of music, guitar and invention! Les Paul was an immense inspiration to so many. Billy Gibbons is just as much of an inspiration to me as well. To see and hear these great stories and memorabilia being shown to Billy was a real treat. Thank you!
Thank you for this video of part of Les Paul's past history. Billy Gibbons is one of my favorite pickers also.I just put 8's on my Les Paul Custom for the first time to explore the feel and sound. I've been an advocate of light strings since at least the mid 80's when I played 8's on my Fender Stratocaster, (which had double humbuckers instead of three single coils, and string lockdowns with fine tuners at the bridge end). I fell in love with the Les Paul sound back in '69 when I first started playing guitar. Listening to Allman Brothers while heading up the Florida Coast in the wee hours of the pre-dawn mornings to surf at Ft. Pierce or Sebastian Inlet from Hollywood, Florida. I finally bought my first Les Paul Studio model in 1991, and I loved that guitar. When I got the Les Paul Amber Sunset Custom in the beginning of 2018, I also bought a full stack Marshall DSL100H to play through, (not UK made, but as close as I could afford at the time). She still rocks. I watch as much on Les Paul as I can find.
Great upload..greetings and appreciation all the way from that little big nation The Netherlands. [EDIT] Did you guys pop the question if Billy does own an early Moderne?
@TheNeuroticGuitarist I am thrilled on your behalf to have experienced any part of this video. Benny I am truly happy for you. Once upon a time I played Mr Gibbons's white troll hair explorer. Maybe 1 percent of the thrill this must have been for you. Straight awesome!
What an incredible video! So much history, would be such an honor to hold or play anything that Les played or personally built. The greatest guitars ever built! Just incredible!!!!!!
