"u need this to rev the crap out of your rb" ok sold
I find the OEM Optical sensor to be very reliable when all you need/want is a single pulse. A $50AEM 24+1 trigger disc will give you that (just wire up the +1.) Then strap on a Ross Crank Damper with 36-2 or 12-1 teeth carved into it. Perfect time. Every time.
This is the way!! Oem look as a bonus.
There’s no need for the single tooth disc. The OEM six tooth pattern allows for faster cam sync.
I've got a 36-2 crank and an AEM disc in the OEM Cas. works great and looks stock
Ross... *shudders*
@@HybridTheorykid1 why?
The PRP stuff is such high quality and looks amazing. Great tech vids too, good job.
Thanks Herman for explaining this type of kit, I'll eventually go to this set up on my rb engine, so it's good to know which one.
I replaced my CPS on my 7MGTE and put a 36-1 crank wheel and single tooth cam gear pickup. The timing jitter from the timing belt is pretty crazy when you lock it and rev it up and down at high rpm. Timing with the 36 tooth crank pulley wheel is completely rock solid no matter how hard it changes rpm, its fantastic. Any engine position driven off the camshafts is just rubbish in my opinion, it can never be completely accurate by design, but these sort of kits are a shit load better than OEM setups and have a big bonus of being very easy to install
Agreed
1:24 street kit
4:55 race kit
7:40 pro kit
10:05 double cast bracket
I am digging the blocks.
Timely, I just ordered a kit today.
I wish there were video installation guides.
I’m sure there are, TH-cam it my dude
Nice flex on the rb billet block at the background
bro motive TV singlehandedly turned me away from EVER purchasing a RB motor for any of my cars.
How so?
@@Velocitist price
Don't be cheap
So for trigger configuration, the 36-2 would be generic missing tooth/single home?
Need more Herman videos! So hard to trust many others, but would make a fkn engine bible from the guys of PRP! Still waiting on the 2J main cap integrated girdle though!
U Even know where he got all his stuff from lol 😆 😂 🤣 ideas blueprints ect ect look around the corner his shop is called boost doc lol anodized it an add snake oil lol I've made 1000-1236awhp for the past say 7-10 years along with maintained just did a stroker kit step 3 an n1 block grout filled man visit gs motorsports Irving Texas don't buy stuff u defenilty don't even need an could spend it more on looks or interior or whatever u fancy but what do I know ask him how he came about all these ideas an stuff lol ask him what happened to his best friend boost doc an how that worked out
@@branw341 BoostDoc, been to their website, they have 2 pages of nothing! No info on who was the 1st innovator. From where I stand PRP broke into the US market hard and looks a million times more professional!
@@BUZDRIFT lol 😆 😂 🤣 yea look up public records of lawsuits lol
@@branw341 FFS, you're cracked out! No suck record of and class actions vs BoostDoc, PRP and CRD are the world leaders and hold the records for the RB's, they have about 500% more product than BD and they're always innovating.... But I'm genuinely curious about any info or proof you may have! In all seriousness, I can't tell if you're a troll or a BD fanboy lashing out hahaha 🤣🤣🤣
@@BUZDRIFT definitely not a troll it all started with tommy fyeah bs he isn't a genuine jdm builder he's a TH-cam fan boy if anything u should look up herman or he'll ask boost doc about it use to be all in the old forums I'll see if I can get alotta info together I hate seeing ppl stick overpriced junk snake oil in their rides ur not going over 1500hp so no need for anything prp sells lol easy to prove it stick 87mm over bore, decent pistons, decent rods, drop in basic 264/264 cams no head work needed I make 850 on low boost bosh 1600cc inj cheaper single throttle body intake, simple gtx twin setup I can make 1200awhp all day no parts from prp needed and has lasted me over 7 years in counting my other car has same setup lol I dunno I'll sell yall anodized parts an give u good testing results 😆 🤣
awesome i needed to learn whet these were for
I love these type of videos!
Hi Herman, will there be dual HKS V-Cam system for the RB head in the works?
Exhaust cam timing has pretty limited power improvments. much more useful for CO, HC and NOx emissions and Cat light-off functions.
@@burn4005 the Civic Type R has the VTEC on the exhaust cam, def there have to be some reason.
@@linchester8464 there is a reason, it's in the second sentence of my previous post.
Time for AH to upgrade?
hi. could i send you an rb30, have it rebuilt$$$ with the pro kit an all the other goodies an have it sent back ready to drop back in an running?
Obviously here's not the place to find that information out, you would probably email prp.
Not a good idea, I sent him a block and ended up receiving someone elses block back dodgy as

Awesome product 🙌
What is your best recommendation for rb20 with power fc and eboost 2
As far as I'm aware the PFC doesn't support any trigger kits other than the factory one, if trigger kit is what you were asking for. I wont be pushing more than 300kw out of mine so im keeping my apexi for wank factor and old school love even though i know theyre outdated and i gain everything from a newer ecu and trigger setup
@@Str3ss3dpo3t654 thanks that's what I thought
@@ramdomstash32 yeah pfc is pretty much a tunable stock type ecu
Thanks heaps guys
Rb25 swap and stop wasting your time.
You're welcome.
Can someone explain to me how big cams can mess with the sensor if the timing marks will always be correct and hasn't jumped a tooth on the timing belt ??
I know this is a year later but larger cams typically have more powerful springs. The extra spring force gives a bit of a bounce effect when the camshaft begins to open the valve, potentially in excess of one of the 360 slits in the OE optical sensor. Basically the sensor has recorded another slit when it fact it counted the same slit twice! It will eventually be out of sync with the 6 tooth "crank" sensor inside of the cam sensor generating an error.
I have the pro trigger on my Dato
What ECU are you using if you don't mind me asking? Working on a RB26 swap for my dato as well (240z)
@@brianoconner2501 I’m using a Motec M84

does anyone make billet timing cover? iv got a clear plastic one n its all cracked

One fix all my mates have started doing is called "a JZ swap"

@@MotiveVideo that would be awesome to do!
Does this work with an RB25NEO?
The kits bolt onto any RB.
It "working" or not depends on your aftermarket ECU being compatible with the tooth count you've selected.
SR20 kit when?
Tommyfyeah does not like this. 😂
Haha I came in here to post this aswel 😂
Lol rt. I been seeing his FB beef about his apparent botched resto. Trigger kit was a hot topic of discussion lol
Oh and 802, my comment about turbos got deleted off that video the other day. I guess they didn't like the Garrett criticism
Haha what happend ? Please explain I haven’t got social media

All of our videos offer advise based on stuff we know has been tested and proven, by us or leading shops
Dont get me wrong tommy and his techs are GOOD at what they do, but none of them are on the level of Herman.
Never mind if they work look at the colours 😎😎
No shorts? No sale! Where's Herman's shorts?!?
All that billet!!!!!
blardy amazing!
Standard CAS should be fine for under 500hp and a bone stock head.
It can be fine for 1000hp if you know how to tune around the problem, it thats the point. a you have to leave added margin of error in your tune and tune around it
@@MotiveVideo While I'm not making 1000 mine is actually pretty good but gets a bit wavey up high so lose a bit of power adding a margin of error for timing as you say
Must do mod go 5-0 Ignite
Why that brand over PRP?
@@brianoconner2501 Constant issues with PRP products and service excuse after excuse everybodies fault but his , was recommended 5-0 ignite for the same reason so im trying to help people, also 5-0 because the person behind the brand is a honest business person I cant and won't support dishonest people so people don't end up losing their money in some cases for crap and stuff arounds. So if you worked hard for your money and you can get a cheaper product that does the same job and no stuff arounds it's a win-win
