    You can adjust the baseline setting of the Encore. It is set at the factory for course. You have to take the cover off and re=set the grinder set collar to set the baseline for the machine for fine grind, but requires some disassembly.

    Excellent video, Goran. I like your new setup for this production, very nice editing by your team mate and better quality video output. Regarding the Encore grinder, the testing is instructive for out of box performance producing the espresso , as well as the useful user comments. Thank you and the team, amigos.

    Hi Goran, thanks for this. I've got an Encore and recently bought a new Gaggia Classic Pro. Yes you can brew espresso but. Lighted roasts come out okay but medium or darker tend to clump up. Single bean coffies are really hard to dial in. I'll be trying to get along with it until I can upgrade. Got my eyes on the Eureka Mignon Facile. I very much like their build quality and steppless grind adjustment. They're priced about the same as the Sette 270.
    Cheers

      @tmb-themajesticbeanchannel1746  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's right, you can do it but it gets annoying not having the grind range. It's also pretty slow when grinding for espresso, compared to the Sette. The Eureka grinders should also do a good job 😊

    It seems as if you use extraction time as a proxy end point instead of just going for taste. Maybe it tasted good or bad or in between, but we’ll never know. I think people measure time because they may be insecure on what actually good tasting espresso is. Cover it up with foamed milk, sugar and cinnamon, and it all tastes good. BTW, I use a setting of 5 and shoot for around 45g of espresso. Takes about 30 seconds. It tastes okay to me, but I’m no expert.

    Great video! I think the Encore is a great grinder and I pair it with my Gaggia as well. There is a Baratza Encore Stepless Mod that can help with many of the issues you pointed out. I recently upgraded to a Rancilio Rocky Dosing Grinder however, as I wanted something out of the box that felt Espresso oriented.

  • @paulshepherd7568
    @paulshepherd7568 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    You need to open the machine and make the adjustment to the burr ring holder as per recommendations just one screw to move. This resets the range and makes it a reasonable expresso machine.

    • @tmb-themajesticbeanchannel1746
      @tmb-themajesticbeanchannel1746  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The purpose of the recalibration of the burr is to gain the ability to grind finer and has nothing to do with adjustment range. As you can see in the video, the problem isn't grinding fine enough, but rather being able to fine tune the grinds.

    Tests of coffee grinders are quite superficial. Tests are done in a few minutes, do not show how the machine works when it has been in use for a while. One machine that gets good reviews is the Baratza Encore. It grinds just fine, but surprisingly rotates with the coffee, both in front of and behind the machine. After let's say 8-10 times it is also full of coffee inside that has not come out. If you knock out the residual coffee, you should have plenty of space, because here the coffee bounces out everywhere. The plastic cup, which is claimed to be antistatic, is probably not completely anistatic after all. If you are considering this coffee grinder, be prepared for a lot of coffee grains on the kitchen counter

    • @tobyearth

      @@tobyearth I have now used Encore a bit longer. It has gotten better with time. For a while I considered dropping the grinder and finding another. I see how it goes. In all cases, there is coffee left in the grinder after each grinding. This builds up over time. It comes out by pounding it lightly on the bench occasionally.
