Please show us how to clean the Baratza Encore ESP. Most reviewers neglect this aspect of grinder ownership and it's really important. In fact, I'd love to see a comparison of espresso grinders with regard to ease of cleaning.
@@kunalmishra9463 Grinds collect on the burrs over time. I just got a Turin DF64 (recently upgraded) single dose espresso grinder that has a bellows to push out the grinds. The owner of Espresso Outlet told me it shouldn't require opening up to clean the burrs as long as you follow instructions and use the bellows properly. That grinder set me back $375 on special sale, but it's worth the money to not have to constantly clean the inside of it.
@@planetag310 Yeah I've got a Timemore 064S coming to replace the Encore ESP I have and while I sorta understand that grinds collect... if you run a purging grind through (~7g worth of beans) prior to your measured out 18g, wouldn't you just be replacing any stale beans that exist and have collected on the burrs with new, fresh grinds?
just bought a non ESP Barzata from Seattle coffee. Wish I had known this upgrade was in the works. Definitely would not have spent the $$ for the old one.
Nice video. I just bought a second baratza encore coffee grinder. My old one had a larger gasket. The new one has a gasket like the one in your video. Is this correct?
great video and was just about to buy this grinder but it looks like it now only comes with the dosing cup and not the grounds bin which isnt great if grinding for non espresso drinks
nice review but Im guessing there is no dose control, i.e you would need to weigh out your beans for the hopper or if you filled it it would just keep going until it emptied or manually switched off?
I just got mine is model 485 not ESP three weeks ago (August 2024) from Amazon. The assembly parts are same but does not came with the small hooper and the small catcher that I don’t really care. However the problem was after setup and started grinding, the hopper self rotated while the blade circling and the beans were not getting any touch from grinding. Then I need to use my hands to hold down the hopper to make it stay in place for working. Isn’t it stupid that I need to holding it down in order to work? It is very frustrated that the machine doesn’t work properly as advertised.
It's part of the "shim kit", which was included in the grip bag that came with the machine along with the QR code. Look up the video on TH-cam called "How To: Shim Your Encore ESP" this will give you a visual demonstration and more information.
this sounds lame but i really wanted this grinder but the looks are just not something I want on display in my kitchen.. it looks like a food blender. i know its a great grinder but come on.. modernise the design.
It comes in black too! I have one, don't care what it looks like, works great! Fantastic coffee of course and easy to clean. Has absolutely plenty of range for espresso. Thoroughly recommend!

As someone who has just gotten into espresso... why is cleaning the burrs an important part of grinder ownership?

@@kunalmishra9463 just curious why did you so quickly replace the ESP?
Terrific tutorial- makes we want to order one immediately!!

You can buy the M2 burrs and do the upgrade yourself.
Fantastic video. Clear. In depth.
Do you have a recommendation for a French press setting on this grinder?

Just got one of these. I’m so excited!
If you turn the grind setting with the beans in the hopper doesn’t the manual say it hurts the device?
What about the front button?

FYI The QR code does not work; at least not on my iPhone...
You didn't show any gasket is a gasket absolutely required I have no idea. Where I put mine
For me the espresso range 1-16 grindes too fine, as a result my Bambino is chocking. It only can work with 20+
"for espresso, set to 15" sets to 10.5. (useful video, still ;) )
And how to clean?

Love how he didn't even grind espresso
What about the fellow opus

you lost me at calling a dosing cup a catch cup lol - but good video nonetheless

Compared to most, this one is a beauty queen.
Especially with a single dosing hopper instead and dosing cup instead of the stock hopper and catch cup
Agreed! A few of them look like some kind it weird microscope
Personally, I like the design of this grinder; to each his own 😂
