      Yes, I really struggled to get the plug out, but I thought that I need to twist it. There was no secret at the end, just scqueeze the rim and it will get out.

    The cabin heater on our 2008 Peugeot 308 1.6HDi doesn't get fully hot as it should, only slightly warm air. The coolant level and engine temperature are stable. Do you have any suggestions? Could it be air in the system and what's the procedure for fully bleeding the system? Thanks.

    • @moremolecules
      @moremolecules  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Was it always like that or just recently started. If the collant has been changed recently or at least since you noticed the not so warm cabin air, then there could be some air introduced. I have a video for the 1.6HDi how to bleed the system. th-cam.com/video/CSmm2SCpPCs/w-d-xo.html
      It is a bit more difficult on these engines, as one needs a header tank. If it has always been like that and no recent coolant change it could be that the heater matrix is partailly blocked for example. That is quite a bit more effort to remove and clean.

    • @Telstar_1
      @Telstar_1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@moremolecules Thanks I’ll check out your other video. The cabin heater temperature has been like this for a while, so I may try bleeding the system 1st to see if that helps. Otherwise it sounds like a bigger job! Are there any recommended additives for the coolant system to unblock and flush out like you have with central heating in a house?

    • @moremolecules
      @moremolecules  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Telstar_1 Unfortunately, I have not heard of any additive that might help. It could be an air bubble and the heater matrix is at the top, so simple undoing the top tyre valve-like cap with a tissue to mop up on a cold engine. Run it and do it again on a cold engine. Fairly easy to do and could potentially solve the heater matrix. Depending on how much air there might be you may need to do it a few times.

    • @Telstar_1
      @Telstar_1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@moremolecules I ran the engine briefly to warm up a little. I reached the lower valve and opened and only hot fluid coming out, no air. Topped up the expansion tank. I can't locate the upper valve - can you please advise.
      The big pipes from the top and bottom of the radiator are cold, and radiator is cold to the touch? I expected these to be hot? A mystery.

    Hi
    Not sure f you can help with my PEUGEOT 3008 2013 model.
    I had to change my thermostat and after it was changed the heat gauge moved rapidly from left to right.
    I was then told that my computer box was faulty.
    I subsequently discovered that the thermostat wiring was different to the orignal.
    It has been months since and i left the car as is. Not sure what to do further.

    • @moremolecules
      @moremolecules  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would have thought a new thermostat (correct wiring) would fix that problem. I doubt a different wiring of a thermostat would damage the ECU. Worth a try to replace the incorrect wiring thermostat with proper one and see if that fixes the problem.

    • @moremolecules
      @moremolecules  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, unlikely it is the thermostat, most likely a blocked heater matrix that is underneath the cowling on the left-side in the car. Difficult to take out, but they do get blocked. Needs taking out and blasting with a higher pressure (tap hose) to clear any debris inside.

      @@moremolecules alright i see, well if its hard to take out my self without any lift etc i guess i need to leave it to a mechanic. The mechanic i asked told me it most likely is the thermostat.. my car have passed 335 000km so it might be blocked as you say. Thanks for a Quick reply!

    • @moremolecules
      @moremolecules  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Timothy, you need to bleed the coolant system. Blowing cold is most likely air in the coolant system (somewhere), could be in the heater matrix. I am not too sure of the procedure for the 2017 model, but this is for my model: th-cam.com/video/CSmm2SCpPCs/w-d-xo.html

    But how does one diagnose where the coolant is leaking? I'm losing coolant on my 1.6hdi, and I could replace the part/hose if I could find the leak.

    • @moremolecules
      @moremolecules  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You touch everywhere where the coolant flows and try to see where it can be leaking from. Difficult to do I know, but not much else can be done.

    • @oloyang431
      @oloyang431 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@moremolecules I looked around the hoses, the radiator and the thermostat. So far there are no signs of leakage. Now, I'm not knowledgable enough about the cooling system and what components might fail so I'll just ask, no matter how silly it might sound 😁 Is it possible the expansion tank cap failed and it's causing coolant to evaporate? Also, I've read somewhere that it takes time for 1.6hdi cooling system to pressurize. I took it for a 20 min ride and when I removed the expansion tank cap there was no hissing at all. Is this normal or not? I'm thinking of taking the car for a really long ride, so the system gets pressurized, because perhaps that's when the leak occurs. I'm just brainstorming here.
      I'm just hoping it's not the head gasket... Though there are no trails of oil in the coolant, and it seems to me there is no coolant in the oil, though I'll know that for sure when replace the oil in a few days. I should also mention that sometimes on a cold start there's a funny smell coming out of the exhaust for a couple of minutes. Could it be that coolant is getting into the combustion chamber due to a cracked engine block? Would a pressure test point to that direction if the pressure drops and there are no signs of leakage in the cooling system?

    Great video thankyou for your time 👌 . Was this just a small leak ? as my neighbour has tapped my shoulder to have a look at his tomorrow leak is from the same area , i quickly looked but all i could see so far is a big leak underneath when engine running im guessing pipe gasket or pipe burst .

    • @moremolecules
      @moremolecules  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it was a small leak, weeping from the cap. I think I may have disturbed the bleeding valve while I was doing some other stuff, basically pushed the valve with another pipe and this disturbed it and started weeping/leaking. For 1 week or so, the collant had dropped with ~200ml or so, so it is somewhat small leak.

    Hello how are you? I just saw this video again because I have a leak in that exact place, bu instead of that, from there emerges a little hose that goes to the reservoir retourning the coolant. Did the rubber gasket change stoped the leak? Maybe I dont have to replace the entiere hose. Thanks.

    • @moremolecules
      @moremolecules  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi DieselTips, I'm alright, how r u?
      Yeah, the extra o-ring fixed it and I later realised that I may have knocked it with the air intake pipe. I'm not too sure if taking the whole thing out, drying and putting it back together was also enough. It has not leaked since at all and I have bled the system a few times, so it was a permanent fix.
      I have not seen the system with a pipe coming out of it. although it makes sense for additional kind of self bleeding.

    • @moremolecules

      I am not the greatest expert, but you have to plug a diagnostic software to see what is going on (PP2000 or diagbox). 10L is too much, mine is ~5-6L/100km depending on conditions. Unplug your MAF sensor and see if that makes a difference, it will go in default mapping rather than relying on measuring the incoming air. Also check www.berlingoforum.com/
