My wife and I are thinking of doing this to our back patio. I was a little skeptical about using this product based on some of the reviews I've seen. However, your DIY video really lays the application process out. Much appreciated.
Your video is the BEST! I paint, tile, etc. Putting down the first coat on driveway by stippling with a synthetic brush. I will be applying it by 4” brush over the whole driveway. Going on great! I did notice that you can NoT put it down like paint. The epoxy goes down great with this method. I did a 6” black Decker Over border as it will not get driven on. Looks sharp against the grey & defines the edge nicely. I am applying it in roughly 3’ x 3’ sections, overlapping. It does dry fast. Using knee pads is helpful! Driveway is 10’ x 66’, 1970’s. Have two 5 gal. I called Behr & she said nothing is needed to help bond. Goes over Quikrete crack seal nice. I have zero waste! I think one 5 gallon will cover all on first coat. Second coat goes on smoother as first one fills in the small spaces. Thank you! & best of luck to those who want to try it.
I applied using a squeegee, brush, and roller. The squeegee worked well. I would pour product and spread with squeegee, then go over with roller. Seemed to make the product go further.
Thanks for this video. I’m getting ready to apply Granite Grip to a patio and will definitely use your method for application. Reading reviews I think what messes up some with this is they try to do too much too fast. Doing small sections at a time as you are doing allows you to observe quality control.
Thank you for the helpful video. My experience was: 1. The product stayed mixed pretty well over the 2 weeks between purchase and application. No real settling of particles. I could scoop straight from can. 3. Your tip of stippling with a brush was the key to my success. 3. Roller did not work well for me because I was doing stairs and they had slight dips in the middle. Ended up using only brush. 4. Store the product upside down between purchase and use although for me wasn’t necessary.
Great video Ty for your tips. About to attempt to conquer this today. Took me days after days to prep concrete as it had awful ugly chipped paint from previous tenants.
@nimster64 It is holding up great, my front porch is going on it's fifth winter. Back porch 2nd winter. Not a single issue. I do not salt it, and I broom it instead of shovel snow off.
@@detroitdiyI have a concrete patio that is a combo of mostly paint and in some spots bare concrete, where the paint was flaking up after pressure washing I Can I apply this product over this, or do I need a primer first or best not to apply anything
Hey there where do you live? In what area of the country? I’m asking because I’m in central Illinois and am concerned about the freeze thaw cycle and how this product holds up in extreme temperature cycles???
This is the best advice ever!! We applied granite grip a few years ago and wasted so much money and paint. Did a new application today and this scoop method is a game changer.
No, this surface was already painted. When I did my front porch I used muriatic acid because the cement was bare. Etching the bare cement it important and will prevent peeling.
Yeah I made that mistake on pouring mine right now and it came out blotchy and clumpy 😢 and now I just have to wait for it to Dry inside my house😅 I wish I had seen this video before I did this 😫😵💫

What collor did you use? I am thinking of doing this on my proch and I really like this color.
Hi there, I did my front walk about 4 years ago and needs redoing (heavy traffic and stained). Can you just apply it again with roller and brush?
After a good cleaning yes.
Thank you for the tutorial. How is it holding up? We do get cold winter here in Illinois

@ thank you for the reply this helps my decision. Appreciate your time
Great job on the video. What was your process to prep?
Pressure washing only because it was already painted. My front porch was bare cement where I acid etched that to prep.
@@detroitdiygreat thank you!

If the remaining paint is secure, you can put granite grip over the top.
Does it require a smoother concrete surface or can be applied on rough concrete surface?
It will adhere better to a rough surface, just make sure it is clean.
Do you think this could be applied over a different existing coating after thorough power washing?
Yes, best if old coating is attached well.
Can you let me know what the name is of the color you chose?
Just Grey No.650. Thanks for watching.
Got the same by choice, didnt know yours was the same :) @@detroitdiy

@CAPTAINJ777 I live in Metro Detroit area. It has held up well. Perp is most important.
Thank you very helpful
So no primer before the first layer?
@@babydaddietv3597 no primer, proper cleaning or etching before applying.

Glad I could help.
Does it come in various colors?
Yes, however options are limited.

Want to demo ? Ok i can ❤
Dont use. Terrible coverage. Expensive. And you cant paint over that. $$$$$$$ so thick it covers only 50sf
3 coats minimum!
