Saw Jimi twice in San Diego Balboa Stadium 9/3/68 and at the Sports Arena on 24 May 1969. Awesome shows both. Randy is keeping Jimi alive. Great guitar and bass work....
****ONLY GUY I KNOW WHO DOES JUSTICE TO HENDRIX. REALLY REALLY RESPECT THIS PLAYING. NEVER THOUGHT I'D EVER SAY IT. RANDY HANSEN PLAYS IT AND IT IS BRIGHT AND VIBRANT***
Randy, you are a national, a world, treasure. Absolutely astonishing! Your videos will keep Jimi's music and guitar techniques alive forever! And you are one hell of a guitarist in your own right! Love you!
Think about it, Randy has been Jimi longer than Jimi was Jimi.. He has been playing Jimi's music longer than Jimi did. And he is damned good at it. Pretty amazing actually, and I am a Hendrix devotee since 1969. I saw Jimi live in Hawaii 1970, and am happy to see his music live on and then some.
People don`t realize that Jimi Hendrix`s spirit jumped into Randy Hansen`s body so Hendrix could live on thru Randy. God Bless Randy and Hendrix forever. ----- Glenn Sandberg
@@Oneness100 he said in a video I just watched he's been doing this since 1975 and still isn't sick of doing it. I remember him coming to my town a few times a year in the mid 80's//// I have to see him live..he's amazing!
The only way to hear Hendrix live other than having Hendrix himself is this guy. Even his add lib stuff sounds like something Hendrix would do. No one can come close to Randy when it comes to Hendrix. They on flat ground and Randy is on top of Mount Everest!
I saw Jimi Hendrix in Seattle at Six Stadium a few months before his death...I'm sorry I wasn't impressed. I first saw Randy at a cub in Auburn Wa. the "group" played 2 sets first was doowap type of rock IIRC. Then after their break they did Hendrix complete with Randy playing behind his back, with his teeth the whole thing and it sounded incredible (better than Hendrix show I saw). Anyway I returned to see Randy many many times, around '79 my wife's best friend was Randy's wife. Randy and I became friends, I'd go over and visit and Randy would always be playing...he can play anything, I'd said can you do Joe Walsh and no sooner say it he would go right into Joe Walsh, whoever I'd say he'd be right there. I haven't seen Randy for too many years to count but found this on YT and brings me great joy, BTW, if Randy wasn't practicing he'd be doing finger exercises for coordination and flexibility constantly. God Bless Randy truly a nice guy and amazing guitar player/performer.
Great start with stone free damn!!!! All i can say is if jimi was here i know he would definitely sign randy on as the 4th member of band of gypsies! Salute 2 u randy!!!!!
Wow!!! Randy just keeps getting better. I'll never forget the first time I saw Randy on his first cruise. When he played "1983 A Merman I will Be" I about lost it. FANTASTIC video and audio quality, thanks for sharing!
This bloke's great !! Love also the extra snippets of many other tunes included, even the Flintstones theme at one point!! Best wishes to him, from Alan in England.
1:03.00 🎶"My strat- o- caster's a tan-gled up mess" ! Wow.. that's dedication to the cause. I dropped my '64 live once almost stopped the whole gig, my boys crawled up in my stomach. Twenty years.... I know he made a great moment but still had to be sick about it.Hope I get to see Randy one day soon. He's up high on my list . I've copied some of Randy's licks doing Jimi's music. Sometimes they sound more Jimi than Jimi, fits better, if that makes any sense.
Man * this guy ass kicking guitar player r,h, and band I dig this jimi looking down on u and smiling * thank u , u tube thank u r,h, for playing jimi songs *Beautiful*
Why don't more folks know about Randy Hansen? He has been doing this for over 40 years and is NOT slowing down! I first saw him in Oakland around 1980, playing before Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, the night John Cougar was booed off the stage. Hansen absolutely stole the show. Blackmore didn't stand a chance ...
He comes from the true Hendrix spirit in that he changes the songs a bit, as Hendrix always did live. And he adds in Beatles melodies to solos, as Jimi did. Also I 'm not sure he intended to break the neck on the white Strat. I typed the former stuff during show. At end he says, "I had that guitar for 20 years, so take good care of that neck, all right?"
Wow, for a phone recording the quality is excellent. And of course the band plays with a lot of fire. Update: I think this was recorded was pro gear and mastered. Sounds fantastic!
That's a trick he's done a million times without flaw. Pretty sure he just misjudged it this time. At that point with the headstock snapped off he just decided to finish it off for show. Not the end of the world or the guitar. He can always put a new neck back on it.
Where did Randy’s gap go ? Wonder if it affects his playing with his teeth. Wow, Beginnings . Great job filming . Thanks. Please tell me that wasn’t a real left handed Srat . Seemed spontaneous. Jeez, he’s good.
I was lucky enough to see Jimi Hendrix live several times and to be honest Randy is better than Jimi when playing live. No one could beat Jimi in the studio, but live Randy wins.
You played Hendrix way way longer than Jimmy played Hendrix-ironic-yet true-I will give you a 9 on 10 scale-cuz we can’t rate the guy after better than the original-remember jimmy was only 27-jimmy the voo doo Chile- I really do think -I would like to meet you in person some day-I live in northern ca
He even plays guitar like Hendrix; taking a wrong-handed guitar and flipping it. Left-handed Jimi Hendrix used a right-hand guitar, but he flipped it to play left handed. Randy Hanson does the opposite, using a left-hand guitar, flipped to play right handed. (Look closely!)
i think Randy is about as close to Hendrix as possible. what might be fun on R U experienced is add a looping pedal just for the intro -- or whatever Randy would think would be fun. Although -- its still perfection as it is. He doesnt need any gimmick. Still just an idea. G R E A T being a left handed Hendrix disciple (not at Randys Level) I learn alot from him. More power (of soul) to him
Randy is the best Jimmi we ever can hear ans see
It’s Jimi not jimmi
He just gets better and BETTER!!!! ....HE LOVES

It looks like an accident, a very good guitar died. Hopefully it can be repaired

the them from the flintstones
