Howard Jones. I never saw him perform,but in 1985, I was 14 years old,and we went to NYC. We stayed at a hotel near Radio City Music Hall,on the night of the second or third MTV music awards!!! We made our way,as close as we could,towards the red carpet/limousine thing. We saw Cindi Lauper,The Fat boys,Howard Jones,Banannarama,Billy Idol,Thomas Dolby,and my brother remembers seeing the Beastie boys,too,although I do not recollect that. It was like being on tv. MTV. 1985.
Sheryl Crow has a song called "Members Only" about a Member's Only Jacket. That is cool that he wore a mullet. There was a whole line of battle jackets! I saw a Devo hat in the crowd.
I looked up the song, pretty funny! I'm sure you'll enjoy seeing all of the wild costumes throughout the cruise theme nights. Those Devo hats (referred to as Energy Domes) were literally ALL over the ship, LOL!

I saw Howard Jones at the Arizona State Fair back in 1985 or 86 when I was attending college there. Saw a lot of great 80s concerts: Howard Jones, Adam Ant, Lionel Ritchie!
Those are all great concerts! We'd love a chance to see Lionel perform, such a legend! That's a great idea to host a class reunion on a cruise... it would be such a blast!

Hey, thanks Al! Yes the music on the first night was the best, so the cruise really started off with a bang! The weather was surprisingly chilly while we were in California, but once we arrived in Mexico it was perfect - sunny and warm! We came home to cold weather in Kansas, but we enjoyed those few days of sunshine on the cruise.

I sooo wanted to go to that 80's Cruise my friend and I looked at the Prices they were like. $4000 each ( wow) but I am sure it's worth it. Especially we wanted to see KW .Finally Kim Wilde visited USA ( Kids in America / You Keep me hangin on) and I couldn't make it what a bummer

Yes, the prices are about double what you'd pay for a standard (non-charter) cruise, but if you added up all of the concert tickets to see these amazing bands plus the fact that all food and drinks are included, it's actually not a bad deal. We utilize the payment plan and pay over a year's time, and after the first cruise you get a discounted rate for pre-booking the following year. Like you said, some of these bands rarely (or never) tour in the US - many are European, so it's a rare opportunity for us to see them perform. Kim Wilde still looks and sounds fantastic, and she put on a killer show! Sorry you missed it - we'll be posting concert clips in future videos soon! Anyway, thanks for watching!

nice! i got a bit of gout going down my chest, haven't been feeling too good these past couple days. been stressed out with the kids and grand kids and everything, expecting me to be Betty crocker and uncle Sam at the same time. i need a new nebulizer, tomorrow im going to go get some new things at the wesley mall in wesley. i cant believe its spring time and daylight savings already. i need to remember to put eggs on my list for tomorrow.

Ha ha, there you go! The only show we missed was L.A. Guns. We felt bad, but that was such a concert-heavy day and we were totally exhausted from traveling. I loved seeing all the energy domes throughout the week. DEVO was such a treat! Aren't we the luckiest people to get to share this awesome experience?!

Hey Ryan! The 80s Cruise is a charter, so they utilize the Royal Caribbean boat and amenities (food and staff) but with themed decorations, activities, and concerts. The food is typical cruise fare, but it's not much of a focus because we stay SO busy we barely have time to eat! The bars have themed drink specials like "Funky Cold Medina" and "Purple Rain" etc. Such a fun week!!

Thanks!! It is an absolutely exhausting week but also the most fun! The only problem is that now we're totally spoiled - all other vacations will be hard to measure up to The 80s Cruise, sigh. This was probably our only time sailing from California (next year we'll be back in Florida) but we really enjoyed it. Seems like the waters in the Pacific are calmer because this one was WAY smoother than last year!

I was at Goodwill the other day and they had some stuffed animals from the 80s. They smelled like they hadn’t been washed since the 80s.
Yuck! I try not to buy stinky ones, but most stuffed animals can be salvaged and washed if you ever want to rescue them. 🧸
