Haha, I clicked on this video ONLY because I saw you wearing a suite. Next time I expect a tuxedo (or you being bare chested and wearing a bowtie - haven't decided yet which one would be better).
Our D&D group meets online and uses TableTop Simulator. One of our players has the Kickstarter beta for Hero Forge with the color options. He'll make the players' characters, in full color, and export them (which costs about $8 each, it's the same file that can be used to 3D print), then we import them into TTS. They look great, and are so unique to each player, instead of using generic characters in TTS. He spends hours upon hours making different characters in Hero Forge and posts screen prints in Discord. I've played with the character creation, and it's fun, but I wouldn't go dropping money for digital characters, and I don't have a 3D printer.
Something to keep in mind for those that might want to purchase stl files for 3d printing is that the files do not include supports so they will have to be applied manually in whatever slicer program you're using, with the level of difficulty of doing this being commensurate to the complexity of your design. Otherwise, these are great and I definitely recommend them.
i don't know if they'd addressed it, but one downside is if you live in Arizona - don't leave your mini in the car in summer. The parts can pop apart in the heat. One of the ones i purchased for a con giveaway met this fate .
Heroforge is amazing! I use it every time I make a new character to help me figure out what it will look like! I look forward to the rest of this series dude!
Yep, that's what I've done for all my characters. Color update has been great for that, used to be I'd grab a screenshot of the character in the same pose from the same angle in all the materials to get a bunch of base colors to use, load them all up into GIMP and paper doll it where I'd find the most similar base color to the color I was looking for, cut that to isolate and mess with to get close to what I wanted, then paste onto the same part for the final layer. Color tools have vastly sped up my workflow and have better results to boot
Looking forward to this series. I started using hero forge just when they had started implementing their colored minis and it has been awesome for concept art and such
Any word on a bulk discount purchase option? For example, if a group was to start a new campaign and wanted to purchase an entire party or a DM was planning a story arc with a new faction and wanted to custom make them.
The only things missing aside from extra things like drums and whips is the capacity to change sizes, i made a lot of characters and purchased some stl files and they are great.
I really love Heroforge. I probably will never buy another figure from there, mostly because I only play online anymore. However! Having visual reference for my characters is really neat and helpful for RP
I will say the bronze minis are amazing HOWEVER the plastic are so low quality and how they look on the site is nothing how they look once they come out, too pricey as well for what you get. Just design it on there and go to etsy and get them to do it and you will save money and get a better overall mini.
Bear body, Goblinoid face, Goblin ears, bushy eyebrows, scraggly mane hair, and either shaggy or chinstrap beard gets pretty close to the Monster Manual picture of one at least to give a decent enough base to start with
Worth noting, by heroforges TOS they own the rights to whatever you make on their site. It's awesome, you make a character on their site and then they can copyright strike you whenever you use it in anything you own, isn't that awesome?! This has been an issue for a while, I hope this is already no longer the case or gets changed soon.
No, the only copyrighted part are the components you use to make your hero forge, but not the character. If you were to get the STL files, print your character a bunch of time, then resell them, you will get a copyrighted strike for selling art that isn't yours. It's a massive difference between the two.
Before you ask, I had a meeting for work and after I just rolled into making this video lol.
www.heroforge.com/
I was about to ask. XD
You know what, ted? Just roll with it!
Agreed should do custom outfits for each video to match the custom clothing options of Hero Forge
Haha, I clicked on this video ONLY because I saw you wearing a suite. Next time I expect a tuxedo (or you being bare chested and wearing a bowtie - haven't decided yet which one would be better).
You still looking snazzy in that suit though.
Oh crap. Ted leveled up. He is getting closer to his final form
Oh Lawyer Alt Skin Nerd Immersion.
When we getting the mini?
@@ODDnanref With authentic battle damage.
Lmao I thought the same thing when I saw the thumbnail
Agreed

I'm excited to see what all comes from this series!
If you play on Roll20 then this is a great way to make a portrait for your character if you don’t feel like drawing them.

Did you do something with your hair? Something looks different?

I love Heroforge. I have sunk many hours just messing around with things. It's made NPC screenshots very very easy for DM'ing.
Love this! Just wanted to say, you’re one of my fave dnd creators!!
Really excited about this series. Huge fan of hero forge!
Lookin good bro! 😍

Glad I found this video. Great info.
I love using heroforge because of the various options that it has. I've made almost 30 models at this point, and I'll keep going until I'm satisfied
The only things missing aside from extra things like drums and whips is the capacity to change sizes, i made a lot of characters and purchased some stl files and they are great.
Hero forge minis are great. I kickstarted the color printed. Very immersive program to custom build your minis
Been using them for the token option for VTTs. Made almost every character I have created. Mainly for picture.
nice suit :O
I hope there's a different costume for each entry in this series
You clean up quite nice!
love the suit!
FORMAL TED HYPE
+1 Tie of Ted
Ooo, classy Ted
You should do a video on the updated combat wheelchair document

As someone whose used this extensively and made roughly 30 characters, I'm curious to see if there's anything I haven't found out yet, lol.
Is that a Space Invaders tie from Lootcrate?
Yup!
Ted: So what is HeroForge?
Me: *looking at my 104 miniatures* A program to create character portraits
More suit and tie vids please
That printed mini of you must be old, since the beard didn't have any gray in it
I love hero forge. Probably have 20minis from them.
ngl i heard the phone vibrate and had to make sure it wasn't me
5 part huh?
It ain't over til it's over!

Dapper Ted
But how do you bugbear?
They got literal aliens but not all the fantasy races and I'm not artistically talented to screw around with that stuff

I'll give that a try and hope it comes out good with heavy armor

I have bought quite a few of these. I'm going tell you the truth, they look fantastic........ BUT!C they are RIDICULOUSLY fragile
