Hey Boba, love your content, hope to see you grow as the DCU does as well! Quick question, what are your thoughts on fancasts for Ethan Peck as DCU Batman?
As long as they cast Glen Powell as Hal Jordan Sydney Sweeney as his love interest, Carol Ferris John David Washington as John Stewart and Jason Momoa (who previously played Aquaman in the DCEU) as Lobo
Hoult is arguably, along with Brosnahan, the best actor in the Superman cast. He'll make an incredible Lex. Hoping he is one of the overarching DCU villains and not just a Superman villain. I'd love to see Hoult's Lex appear in Waller and other DCU projects - like a guest appearance in the Batman film where Lex is expanding his empire to Gotham and keeping an eye on Batman.
Personally, I think casting the villains is even more crucial than casting the heroes. Not only they're more complex, but screwing that role might ruin the entire plot. It isn't hard to sympathize with the guy who's trying to save lives, but the villain needs to convince the audience he's a serious threat.
@claudiacarvalho9562 I could not agree more. It's not only about threat but the villain has to have believable motivations that you can understand. The best villains believe that they are the hero of their own story.
The source was also right about Eve Teschmache being in the film, their mistake was thinking that Apex and Ghost Man would be the Authority when they were actually Mr Terrific and Metamorpho

@@cynicalthoughtsthat's part of hearing the news of the writers. Not that it's guaranteed to be an amazing script now but we know with this group it won't be awful. This is a great team of writers.
Really excited for new Green Lantern live action content. I cant tell you how excited I was back in 2011 when the first film came out. I was a big fan after reading a lot of the Geoff Johns run a year or two prior. And while I don't outright hate the film, it definitely wasn't this Star Wars-esque space opera Ryan Reynolds said it was, sadly. Had some cool moments on OA, but not nearly enough. So much lore they can dive into with the GL series. As excited as I was back over a decade ago!

Homelander actor Antony Starr is an obvious fit for Booster Gold IMHO. Seeing these same comics panels that come up in these videos I now cannot unsee him in those images. It would be natural for that to not be announced to contractually not overshadow the upcoming season of The Boys.

I think anybody that has any interest in The Watchmen should at least check it out for themselves.
I think the DCU Arkham series is going to be an episodic anthology of short films centered around the different rogues, potentially by different directors. The leaked “movies” (Pyg, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, Clayface) would be from this and it just got lost in leak translation

While I'm a fan of King's work, with the exeception of Nightwing/Grayson he's known for tearing characters down. Thats great in an Elseworlds type of story. I dont know how that will work for cinematic universe building.
All I want to hear from Lanterns is that Glen Powell was cast as Hal. That's it.. lol. He can do the cocky smartass Hal. Everyone should go watch him in "Everybody Wants Some" lol. He's fucking hilarious in that movie. He can pull off Hal. He also looks the part too. He's young enough to stick around for a decade or so. He's also around the same height and age as David Corenswet so it's almost perfect. You could easily give him an inch lift in his shoes and he'd be an inch shorter than David like Hal is to Superman.
As long as they cast Glen Powell as Hal Jordan Sydney Sweeney as his love interest, Carol Ferris John David Washington as John Stewart and Jason Momoa (who previously played Aquaman in the DCEU) as Lobo
But which question? We have two. I wouldn’t oppose either. And it would probably be a more grounded mystery. IE discovering if there will also be a more minor but very human antagonist to chapter one alongside whatever fantastical villain we will get.
I know people really want reveals and pictures from the Superman movie. But I kind of love how well they've kept things contained. My personal ideal is them keeping so much hidden until they are ready to drop a trailer. Would make the trailer all the more effective. At least I think so. But I get that people want to know!
And honestly after how obnoxiously that one Superman image was picked apart people don't deserve an early glimpse right now. Gunn tried that and his reward was endless bashing about every tiny detail about the suit.
I Think Green Lanterns sounds cool and High hopes for Booster Gold! (IF) there was a ClayFlace movie what it the character was NOT muddy and gross. What if he changes his face in a "Mission Impossible" mask sort of way?
On John Stewart being in his twenties, if this is true it could speak to another DCAU influence… his romance with Hawkgirl. Who was of course Shayera Hal and we *might* be getting Kendra, but still… Fingers crossed! Stuff like getting the Question would also be sweet, especially if it’s Vic Sage; I’d love to see his passing the mantle on to Renee Montoya like in the comics, if they wanted to do some legacy characters’ actual arcs (the best part of the New Earth comics’ era). That goes extra for the Robins on the Gotham end (and maybe even Batgirl), and while I’m *not* willing to cling to us getting a proper red-haired Wally West as the Flash? Well, I can still hope right? I remember the Apex thing, folks thought it was Lex Luthor a year or so back; if it’s Jack Hawksmoor, that might be even better though because making him non-Caucasian could really be subtextually used to inform his particular set of morals… I’m confident the Authority will shape up nicely. So, my only question is which Jenny we will get given the original founder was the spirit of the 30th Century and all - it feels like compositing both of them might be the easiest way but I dunno, it doesn’t sit right for me.
all this talk of the Reevesverse getting cut down in favor of the DCU really rustles my jimmies tbh. I just hope Reeves is given pretty much full carte blanche to do whatever he wants with his movies at least.
@@AnonymousGrogu ya that was the first red flag. Gunn was going about how Reeves pitched the show as a DCU project, but pretty much all indications were that it was originally intended to be a part of the Reevesverse.
@@AnonymousGroguI’m sure Reeves handed Arkham over to Gunn because A) HBO came up with the idea and pitched it to Reeves. It wasn’t his concept B) Joker and Riddler are the only rogues in Matt’s Arkham right now. HBO canceled a GCPD show in favour of having more Batman villains in a new show. So Gunn’s DCU would benefit from a Arkham series more. C) There could be an Arkham breakout at the end of Part II. Otherwise how does Joker leave and become fully formed with the clown gimmick? Maybe he felt with Joker/Riddler out of the asylum, it makes the series useless with no rogues gallery.
@@shauner8754 I thought it would be a perfect way to introduce members of the rogues gallery into the Reevesverse without Rogues being fleshed out in a film only. It would allow us to get a deeper character analysis of the major players prior to the 3rd film, or even the second depending on how The Penguin goes. It didn’t have to be Reeves’ concept of a show for it to brilliantly fit in with the universe by fleshing out more characters. In my opinion, it doesn’t matter that they’ve only introduced the riddler and joker so far because the show would’ve been able to bring a lot more involved in the universe. You don’t have to agree, that’s totally fine. The DCU will have more fantastical characters, so I understand that point of view, I was just excited to see a larger rogues gallery in the Reevesverse.
My only concern is that with focus on the question and greens lantern, they may not focus on the detective aspect of Batman as much. However it may be for the best as bravery and the bold should be primarily focused on the relations between the bat family and such
I mean I'm sure that part of Bruce won't be ignored it just won't be priority one with the charachter or maybe it'll be done more subtly in Brave and the Bold.
Jake Gyllenhaal should be the question, they could really have him investigating the centre and him discovering the cults that it's started but not knowing its something supernatural , and him ending up discovering about the madness it causes
For Lanterns, how soon is too soon for Manhunters? I’ll admit, it’s a bit of recency bias since i just rewatched the 2011 animated series, but i don’t think i’d hate it if the feel for the universe fit the storyline by the time we get there, and can always still take some time in universe to get back to where it’s impactful to our characters or team/s
Hey Boba, thinking on if the current rumors on Ultraman are actually true, could Gunn's superman recently shared image been actually Ultraman and he is just trolling the entire planet (divide people's opinions about the character like it might be in the movie). I know, I know, far reaching here, just having fun over the internet. Would be quite funny if the real superman suit is different actually.
Tom King is heavily involved witht the DCU as a whole. Definitely not the person I'd appoint but hopefully his contributions to film are better than that of his comic book/ graphic novel writing.
@@The.Usurper his graphics novels are almost all highly regarded though. The only reason people seem to have an issue with the guy is because of his batman run. Honestly I don't even really get why people still dislike him after all the other great work he has done since then.
@@Joshcoshbagosh I've enjoyed a few of his runs but the number isn't equal to that of those I have personal disdain for. To each his own tho, I'm glad you enjoy his works. Personally I feel like he tells stories that generally don't fit with the DC characters he's utilising, but instead of recognising that he just keeps writing them. He loves breaking characters over stories, when it should be the other way around. I think the ideal scenario would be for him to create his own indie universe, where all the people who love him can go read him, but he isn't performing character assassinations left, right and centre.
@@The.Usurper I mean his graphic novels are generally all standalone already. I just don't know whats so bad about a lot of that stuff frankly. I mean Up in the Sky is fantastic, and I have heard only great things about his stuff like Woman of Tomrrow(being adapted for the movie), and Mr Miracle.
@@Joshcoshbagosh I think alot of it comes down to reader preference and King's style of writing. He's not your average writer and takes alot of risks. He explores aspects unexplored before and isn't really satisfied with the "standard comic book stories" most readers are accustomed to. This means that he can tell some incredible stories, but it also means some of the risks he takes don't work out and the stories can suffer as a result. For every complaint about him (most of which are valid) is a compliment (most of which are valid). I think it's just a matter of weather or not you think he's worth the risk. Some people like having a few wild cards in the deck, others don't.
Oof, Lindelof worries me, ALOT. He completely missed the point of Watchmen, as a concept. There were bits of that show i liked as it was airing, but as a whole, that show was another mess, typical of a writer from the JJ Abrams camp. The finale came around, and there were just a million "mystery boxes" that were never going to be explained. Tom King, less so, but he needs a good editor who understands his pitfalls as a writer. He creates some total nonsense when he's left to his own devices. I do think Mundy is a good choice for Lanterns (and i actually *really* dislike Ozark, though I can appreciate the way it was written), I just hope that Gunn is keeping a super close eye on what they're doing and essentially acting as the "editor" for all 3 of them. I'm honestly pretty sure Lindelof is only attached to Lanterns because of some contract that was written up back when Abrams was "planning" his GL Corps show under the old DC. I just can't see him as a writer that Gunn would pick himself, unless he came in with some amazing pitch, but that's one of Lindelof's biggest problems; big ideas, but poor execution. I also worry about the combination of King and Lindelof, they both LOVE to get ridiculously political at every chance, and i mean "modern day"-political, not like "political thriller"-political.
Tom King especially plays fast and loose with characters. To the point where it feels like he adapts the characters to fit his ideas, rather than working stories from a knowledge of the characters. I know that Geoff Johns has burnt his bridges, but at least he has an encyclopedic of the DCU. I would like to see characters that are recognizable and not have him write a character assasination.
Finally we are looking to get good DC movies because the past DC movies have been trash especially the Batman Joker oh my God those were super trash like all the Zack Snyder movies.. but finally James Gunn going to make me love DC movies. Can't wait.
He can keep his new DC - that universe had some awesome people playing the heroes. That i... killed it and for me, my family and most of my friends and colleagues, DC does not exist anymore. Cut that crap. We have enough of directors or regisseurs stomping all over the place, fulfilling their personal gagaland and showing no empathy whatsoever for source materials, established characters or the fans. Last season of Game of Thrones, the last 3 Starwars movies, the Witcher series, now this... - sorry, it's enough! We don't want or have to accept every BS the movie companies or single folks there are throwing at their audience nowadays! 😡😤😓
I agree Whenever King is involved you can expect heavy-handed decisive political messaging and wild bastardizations of popular characters. I fear Hal and John will be unrecognizable by the time we see them on screen. I'd love to be wrong.
King's work outside of his batman run is actually consistently highly regarded. HIs limited stories such as Supergirl Woman Of Tomorrow, Superman Up in the Sky, Mr Mircale, and and quite a few others frankly are all widely considered fantastic. Besides, it's well known that King got screwed by editorial on his batman stuff. But ya its funny that people still think King sucks even though he seems to almost exclusively write bangers unless we are talking about Batman
Batman isn’t that dark a character tbh… early Reeves Batman yes - but older matured Batman? No. This Batman should be like steeped in fantasy - we’ve already got Reeves grounded version.
@@firstlast9846he is a dark character even when dealing with fantasy characters in live action Batman really shouldn’t have underwear his whole thing is fear it would just be too funny thinking criminals will take the underwear serious it’s perfect for Superman tho it just feels rightz
Damon lindeloff shouldn’t get work, jj Abrams goons have ruined so much stuff. Everything they touch turns to crap, hopefully it’s just a name credit. Because they named 2 projects the guys worked on meanwhile he has been involved in so much garbage over the years lost is so old that it tells you something
@@RyanG0899 Well i mean Tom king is hit or miss, the JJ abrams crowd is like a machine gun of misses. I mean I hate Toms batman run so much but that supergirl story is good. And the Earth one green lanterns.
I’m sick of Chris Pratt. I really want other actors to get a chance to step into character for the DCU. No more Dave Bautista and Zoe Saldana too. Zoe has been in how many major franchises? Enough already.
Superman needs to make as much as MOS did (668 million) to be a success. It's hard to see it doing that, but that figure is what Robert Myer Burnett feels it needs to do and ITA. None of this low balling stuff of it's OK if it just makes 500 million. In a time of dwindling BO returns (January to April saw the lowest BO in almost 30 years) and the bad image WBD has, Gunn's Superman is likely set to underperform.

Hoult with a Ferrari - he is the Super-Man. What a great Lex, the man who prides himself on being the best encountering an alien.
If Hal is supposed to be closer to 30 then I could believe the rumors a bit more of James casting a Gen V actor (Patrick S.) as Hal.
Remember, the "D" in DC/DCU stands for "Detective".
Jake Gyllenhaal should be the question, they could really have him investigating the centre and him discovering the cults that it's started but not knowing its something supernatural , and him ending up discovering about the madness it causes
I've been thinking Josh Hartnett age 45 would actually be a great Batman for James Gunn
No way , too old for that
The question would be awesome if they start off with vic in season one then season 2 we get Montoya becoming the question
We are so back with not knowing absolutely ANYTHING about movies before they come out with Superman 😤
Tom king...oh well all my hopes for lanterns has just gone straight down the crapper.
John should be the young GL Green Lantern 87
Nicholas Holt is Drip Luthor.
That Arkham Asylum show being switched to the DCU still pisses me off, lol.
This is why James gunn shut down DCULeak source
idk if you’ve answered this before but who would you want to play the lanterns in the tv series?
Chris Pratt should be Steve Lombard.
I wonder if they'll set up a relationship between john stewart and hawkgirl
Tom King especially plays fast and loose with characters. To the point where it feels like he adapts the characters to fit his ideas, rather than working stories from a knowledge of the characters. I know that Geoff Johns has burnt his bridges, but at least he has an encyclopedic of the DCU. I would like to see characters that are recognizable and not have him write a character assasination.
I’ve been waiting for u 🥹😊
Good news roundup.
First:) how’s everyone doing
Finally we are looking to get good DC movies because the past DC movies have been trash especially the Batman Joker oh my God those were super trash like all the Zack Snyder movies.. but finally James Gunn going to make me love DC movies. Can't wait.
Too bad there is nothing on the Batman DCU thoughts on what will happen?
How would a clayface film happen like I’m not sure that’s true cause I can’t see people buying tickets to see it
I wonder if that new frontier rumor was true
What if Grant gustin will cast as booster gold
Pee loo its how it supposed to be said.. and Im rooting for the guy in top gun for booster gold
I want Henry Cavill as Batman in the DCU internet will explode if that happens
god you are so good
I still believe lobo will be in the movie
Damn im EARLY early
Hello there!
Booster gold one of my fav characters thank god he’s not gunna be ruined by Chris Pratt
Ryan goslin Gunna B his Booster Good 👌🏿👊🏿
No way because he’s not a household name and he’s not a box office draw
@@BrutalVengeance89184.. Well who's your "household name then BV.. Should be good???? 👂🏿👂🏿👂🏿👂🏿

$1 says Chris Pratt is DCU Batman
Nope
Heck ye boba video
im afraid gunn may make his movie too much like the new 52, i just want classic shit
Will you be doing the acolyte breakdowns?
Dcu might run into the same problem as the mcu. Too many projects going on at once. Gunn needs to slow down the announcements.
God I hope it's not Chris Pratt
Niceone Boba
I think Tom King having such a big part of the DCU is a red flag. His work isn't well liked at all.
Don’t believe everything comic twitter tells you. A lot of people like his work.
DC is going to be the new MSHEU
You’re lying because the new DCU will never be the new MSHEU , ever
The weakest Lanterns ever. When i.t comes to the Lanterns, casting i.s every thing
if they can get him to do it, Zack Snyder would be *perfect* for the project about the Question.
HE ABSOLUTELY WOULD NOT 💀 The Question would require a writer and director who are actually talented.
Zack Snyder needs to not touch another dc project every again
ugg...Tom King 🤮
what Tom King stories have you read?
DCEU is just dead, can’t even be asked anymore
Besides Pattinson I want to know who’s going to be James Gunn Batman and he better not have underwear ! James can’t do dark very well …
Batman isn’t that dark a character tbh… early Reeves Batman yes - but older matured Batman?
A lot of comic enthusiasts will say that the Dark Knight Returns is the definitive Batman, which paved the way for the character we have today.
Exactly. Add Tom King to that list, too.

She’s an actual good actress duh

@@WriterusAeternus it’s totally past my time arguing with a nerd, yes.
More fake news. Lol😂
Most of these movies will never see a ray of light... Especially after Superman fails to make more money than Man of Steel....
@@randyodonnell7579 Gunn’s Superman will not underperform because there are rumors that both of new Jurassic film and F4 will be delayed
Another box office flop in the making😂😂😂😂
Shut up you mindless Snyder bot
